Replaced the oil, air filter and spark plugs on a John Deere JS63C push mower. The mower sat for four years before I did the basic maintenance on it.

So i have an 07 grand prix with the 3800 motor and its leaking oil pretty bad i think it maybe from where the oil filter is im not sure though but was thinking to replace the housing unit that the oil filter is screwed into do you know what that is called? also do you think it would be hard to do???
WHAT IS THE MAINTENANCE KIT PART # THAT WOULD HELP
This was really helpful thanks
You never did take the top cover off and that’s what I’m having trouble getting to let loose and I don’t want to break it…
Take the gas cap off, pull up and to the side.
20oz of oil
Good job! Thanks for sharing this guide! I'm about to put b&s sae 5w30 in ours since I bought 3 minis for tuning up our old rider. Poured a whole bunch of money into potentially fixing it up, but realized I needed to just spend spend spend on an engine that's prob on its last legs. Sooo my bro bought one of these for my mom's house. Didn't know how to change the oil on a walk behind since we've always had a rider. SAE30 is recommended by JD, but 5w30 is compatible for all temps, which I need atm for leaves in the winter lol. Thanks again for helping me locate the drain plug! JD keeps all their owners manuals on LOCKDOWN! Buncha turds lol.
Great video I have to change my gas tank on my John Deer js63c thanks
Thanks for the great video. I have a 2007 with same issue
Damn Boodle! Start up ONE pull!!!! You da man and thanks for the video
Where is the fuel filter on this model, in the gas tank?
I have one of these and, surprisingly, the supplied tube works very well for draining the oil if you dont want to use the drain plug under the deck.
Can you tell us where the gas was leaking from on the gas tank?
Nice job saved plenty of $ doing it yourself..
Excellent video I have an 06 pontiac grand prix the exact same color. Thanks for the video
Very helpful. I have one similar to yours that doesn't run but I bet with this service it will. Thanks for the demonstration.
Thank you
@@boodle2039 It did fire up. Thank you.
@@MilesFarms Awesome to hear. :)
So you don’t recommend the oil that comes in the kit
The oil works fine, you just have to measure it out. Briggs and Straton kits typically give you an 18oz bottle of 30W oil designed for their small engines, which you can find the oil by itself at places like Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc. Unless you have a severe case of sludge, 98%+ of the oil you drain should be gone and you can fill it completely with the 18 oz bottle. If you're not sure, do most of it, check the level, and top off if needed. My annoyance was that I don't have any other machines that use 10W-30. And the 14oz remaining in the bottle isn't enough to fill it for the next oil change. John Deere has pretty much left the pushmower industry, so they stock primarily full quarts because that's what their riding mowers use. It makes sense, from a business perspective, I just got annoyed with it. Hope this helps :)
What’s the gap supposed to be for the spark plug?
According the manual, .51 mm Thanks for watching :)
