How about taking your Sawyer filter and keeping it inside a ziplock bag? Immediately after you use the water filter put it inside the bag and put it somewhere inside your jacket, preferably as close to your body as possible. Also, how about bringing a couple of packs of disposable hand warmers with you too. The survivalists on UA-cam almost never mention hand warmers and they're some effective tools to warm up with, take up very little space and don't weigh very much either. Why you don't bring a roll up Sawyer water bag or two or three or something similar kinda baffles me too. A filter or two and a couple of those bags will easily fit inside of a gallon ziplock bag with room for other things.

A collapsible stock,muzzle break,pistol grip actually do not make a rifle an assault rifle . Like you said an assault rifle can switch from semi to full auto with a switch

Sig made a version of the spear that would be NY compliant i think its called the spear ranch rifle or something like that but it has a fixed stock and no pistol grip. I don't live in NY so these laws don't apply to me so I could be wrong but its worth looking into.

There is no such thing as an assault rifle. Assault is an action not an object it is a semi-automatic, fully automatic pump-action, lever action when you say your assault you fall right into their agenda assault is an action

no thing as an assault rifle. the language and law are 2 very different things. you don't call a pistol an assault pistol, or shotguns and or rifle. with ppl that use that term is what is getting us screwed with these so-called ""ASSAULT WEAPONS. ASSAULT is what you do to harm another person! My ar-15 is just a gun that sits in my safe. it's yet to have assaulted anyone.

I grew up in Buffalo, I ended up moving to KY for work and I’ve been enjoying the freedom to own a normal ar15 and other firearms It’s cool to see other people near my hometown who are into firearms, when I last lived there in 2018 it seemed that the only people who owned guns were those in the hood and kids selling drugs on the corners
