Mason being alive should be canon because woods would’ve wanted Menendez to suffer so he would snipe him in the leg two times

I think they should make it go with the OG MW series where it was good and then go with the leaked ending for MW3 OG and make it intertwine there

I refuse to belive the MW reboot is apart of the black ops universe i think personally it wouldnt really fit the vibe and connect aswell with the black ops game cause black ops feels more gritty while MW reboot is just well trash i just dont really belive as it apart being the black ops timeline

I can acknowledge WAW, Black Ops, Cold War, BO2 1989, and BO6 as canon. I think 2025 on should be wiped from the timeline

The lack of the 2025 missions looks like it’s an oversight by CharlieIntel or their source. If we were to get a new black ops game that retcons the 2025 missions, it’s so damn strange to keep _half_ of a game canon. Like, fanfiction writers are more consistent with their own headcannons

BO3 and 4 are non canon.

The Timeline is fucked in Black ops. Ever since MW Cold War canonized the MW Reboot. If they gonna remove the 2025 Missions of BO2. Then BO3 and BO4 wouldn't exist because of it. I could've swore that Treyarch said that Mason was canonically Alive. I don't know, ever since the Reboot MW was canon. It really fucks up the Timeline. Especially, they forgot WAW was actually Canon and the first "Black ops" game in the timeline.

I think Black Ops 2 2025 missions will be retconned

Part of me thinks that the Mason lives ending was wishful thinking. Like Woods imagined how it'd be if his best friend lived and reuinited with his son.

BO 2 will be remake because of MW reboot being in the same universe so they need to tie up both universe to make sense and we are living in 2024 so that's why.

Why i think Alex Mason is alive and it does makes sense for me : 1. Woods tells you in the mission : " Grab any evidence before they burn everything " and you must search the room until you find the CIA Memo ( in Time and Fate mission ) 2. You have to click the button to resist killing Kravchenko during the interrogation. ( In the Old Wound mission ) So, the game guided you to know that something is going on during Panama mission. When capturing Noriega, those 2 key elements are mentioned and also before shooting, Woods hears Kravchenko's voice and that could disturb him from shooting him in the head. 3. When you boot up Black Ops 2 game, you can see Alex Mason not having a single scratch of a bullet in his forehead when David is narrating. Here are the 3 convincing arguments to prove that Alex Mason is potentially still alive.

What about Black ops 3 ?

This may be a hot take, but I wish Black Ops never went the futuristic route. Apart from it being a gimmick and too novel for my taste, I wanted more from Mason, Hudson (wish Ed Harris stayed) and Woods. The 80s era was the perfect time period to explore in BO2 and by the time we got it extensively in Cold War it was too late and the golden era of COD was already over.

The issue is whether Mason is PRESUMED dead or ACTUALLY dead. He has to be at least presumed dead as Woods thought he had killed him. Also he was not seen from 1989 to 2026. So he has to be at least THOUGHT dead in the new Black Ops game (supposedly set in early 1990s ) Since there are cut scenes of the Panama mission which show Mason with no head wound he CIULD still be alive. The problem with Mason surviving is "What was he doing for 30 years) My theory is that Menendez found out about Mason's brainwashing and did some programming of his own - using Mason "Winter Soldier style" all those years

I think Mason is just going to end up like Reznov where it's left ambiguous whether he's truly alive or not

I'm sorry but, Black Ops 3's campaign getting shade, really? One of the most dynamic, fleshed out, experimental campaigns in the series' history? An entire level set inside a dying woman's cybernetic mind! A hybrid vehicle/on-foot section MW2 could only manage in Spec Ops mode! All those incredible cybercore powers! Being able to -hack an entire miniboss then take control of it-. That is unforgettable.

This is a really dumb theory but what if after mason was shot in the leg, the CIA rescued him and he started doing even more undercover missions, and you play as mason at the end of the game where he helps with the September 11th attacks

Treyarch says that Masons death is canon. Yet they also mentioned that “The Truth Lies” so… can we be sure Mason is really dead?

I think COD 2025 will be a remake of BO2

I personally feel that Black Ops II's 2025 missions are still canon. They just aren't ready to say whether they are canon or not because COD (2025) is supposed solidify the exact sequence of events that is going to be canon. Remember that BOII had multiple choices that the player could make in the campaign affecting the overall ending. We don't know what is that exact sequence of events yet because COD 2025 is supposed to reveal it and solidify it as well as hopefully bridging the gap from BOII to BO4 after such a long time. As for the people asking and saying: "well why doesn't Modern Warfare have this crazy futuristic tech, clearly BOII isn't canon and is being retconned." Only simple answer i could give is from a story/lore perspective. The tech is most likely being developed or has been in development for a long time, and will only begin to roll out to militaries or has been rolling out since late 2022/2023. Modern Warfare 4 hopefully should feature some a majority of Black Ops II's technology :). Modern Warfare has always shown the amount of advancement that have been made and are being made to weaponry, so definitely expect MW4 to do the same.

Honestly I think they just forgot WAW and the bo2 2025 Missions, but I do agree its weird how they specified the 1989 missions. I also honestly just refuse to acknowledge the existence of Black Ops 4
