I never understood why bjj HAS to be nice. Luta Livre and Carlson Gracie jj became very proper for fighting which was the intention since the origins. Typical(modern) bjj is only creating false confidence if attacked in the street. The logic is to be nasty and aggressive if you're being attacked, right?... I just don't get why most bjj players will whine. Wrestling has flow too and can take it easy on a Sunday but that doesn't mean it has to compromise moves

  • @lordcall2058

To me it's time to add in MMA a combo of BJJ and Sambo. Khamza Chimaev for instance uses wrestling, Sambo and BJJ. If Oliveira wants to have some chance against Machachev he should learn also Sambo with BJJ and wrestling too, and starts conditioning his body. The biggest threat from the Daghestani fighters it's not so much their style, but their mental and phisical toughness, both Fedor Emelianenko and Khabib did training on the mountains and conditioning to Pain and fatigue. MMA is evolving and Sambo and phisical conditioning are extremly important to evolve with Ju Jitzu and the other staff.

The difference is how you control the body. Learning how to work underhooks and clinch is different than grip fighting from distance. If you try to reach for a lapel in a fight, there's a big chance you're eating a knuckle sandwich
