Restorations: 1967 Ford F-350 Crew Cab (video #1, December 2024)

First video of many more to come! Building this 1967 F-350 crew cab to road trip to Alaska. It started it's life as a manual transmission, 2wd dually truck with a 352FE engine. I decided to Cummins swap it then my cousin convinced me that we should convert it to 4x4. Thanks to @hard_luck_garage for transmission work so far!

Real Problems: Bad Driveways and Dragging Tails
I'd agree former fire dept. truck. Dual spotlights and flashers on the front scream fire truck. Any holes in roof for lights?
@@johnheckler4185 i did not check for that. Holman Moody did build some of these but I don't know if this is one of those or a clone
Very cool!
Look up Holman Moody. That is a piece of racing history!
I was actually just doing a little bit of research on that. I would think that this has to be an original in order to have the logos and everything. The guy I picked it up from said he put the truck together so that's where I am a little confused but I should ask him and see if he built a clone or if it is a true HM truck
It'd be cool to have one if these, I wouldn't want to have to feed a big gas V8 though...there was the FT 330, 361, 391 and Super Duty 401, 477 and 534. A turbo diesel swap wouldnprobably be the move. If a Cummins is too difficult because of high demand, a Interbational DT360 or 466 or Ford I6 turbo diesel from the 80s would work pretty well and use enough less fuel to be worth the effort.
@@hendo337 yeah basically anything, even idi swap would give as much power with more reliability
Air from the bottom till you get it drained then brake cleaner to clean
Dad had a 67 cabover Ford grain truck, opposite paint scheme.... I hated that thing.... maybe if it brakes, I might have liked it? As grandpa used to say, 1st to the accident in a COE... LOL
I never realized they kept the cabover body style that late
@@Hard_Luck_Garage yeah I knew it was a long time but looked it up last night and it was like mid-50s to 1990
@ wow that’s a lot longer than I ever knew
1957 to 1990
@michaelkaney5134 blew my mind when I read that!
At one time the longest running truck cab in production. I don’t think it’s been beat. Also used by other truck manufacturers like Mack
Boys and their firetrucks! Lol 😂😂😂
I bet the stripes and lettering have real gold leaf in them!
@@Hard_Luck_Garage you're probably right. The stripes weren't nearly as reflective as the doors but it was cool to see. Even had the red round button reflectors on the front
Will be a sweet truck
@@ronaldduwaynebrown8071 I sure hope so! It's been 5 years so far but the next year should be a big one for it
PS: if it a Ryder truck let them fix it they have enough money! If not Next time leave the bowl attached crack the cap on top, open the drain if nothing comes out use something long enough to brake up what trapped in the drain. Then remove the bowl and use parts or brake cleaner to clean out the housing.
I bought it from Ryder so I own it but the problem is, the algae was all the way to the outlet port so there was no way to get to it without doing what I did
lol didn’t mean to come out like an ass! I work for Ryder and don’t like to see Drivers spend their own money. Damn ok I get it now. If the algae it’s that bad it may get clogged up in the fuel manifold where the lines come up from the tank to the engine.
@@Diesel_Tech no I didn't take it that way at all! I have their PM plan and after seeing what the filters cost, I'm glad I have it but figured I'm smart enough to start with filters rather than try to get into a shops schedule and deal with that. I'm anxious to see if it comes back or was a one time thing
Cool if need any info send me a message!
I know a guy that hauls for me..... 😂😂😂
Nice build, if you are anywhere near California, I have tons of parts for ya
I'm from Michigan but drive truck so get that way on occasion. I am not allowed in right now though *cough cough*
@ryansrestorationrescues 10500 surprise valley Rd, Comptche CA your welcome anytime man
Look forward to more videos of the build!
brake clean with straw from the top
@@jkoonce4244 I didn't have as much brake clean as I wanted so that's on my list of things to restock and a strap wrench for the filters. The water separator housing wrench was $73, only $13 on Amazon had i been prepared
@ryansrestorationrescues too rite butt that's truckin , shiny side up
Get u a skinny stick n poke it I do it all the time
@@Auxtrev yeah I took a skinny screwdriver and it worked great. Pretty bad a 3/8" hole is plugged solid
Looking good!
Looks good! Nice to see the parts coming together!
@@Hard_Luck_Garage yeah it was a really encouraging day to see it look like a truck for the first time in 5 years
Sounds like music to me
Beauty ❤
Oh yeah!
Pretty Sweet
I love the details. There is so much love in that build. Tell me, are the scuffs painted on?
@@finalmidnight he says it's all original paint, just has the shine juice put on
@@ryansrestorationrescues 100% Authentic battle scars. So damn cool.
Is it a two-door or a three-door ???
Nice dude! You are smart for not buying the more expensive option more money in your pocket. I have the same generator and love it. How long have you had it and have you had any problems? Thanks
Very cool Airstream - what year ?
Just saw this but it was an 82 I believe
I would choose the airstream. I am disabled living with a friend. I would make the bus my home so I can invite my grandchildren over. ♥️ This would be such a huge blessing if the Lord sees fit. 💯🙏🏻. God bless you for giving back‼️please stay well & blessed 🙌 ~Christine ♥️🙏🏻🐾
Airstream
Awesome I had a 3500 on my truck. Really helps not idle. I would flip it and make sure you have working monoxide alarms
I love Shaw's
They're cool little tractors! I've hauled several but think this is the only one that's run
Boom
Thanks. Getting ready to pull the trigger on one of these to back up critical things in my house in the case of an outage this winter, or any other time. I'll also use it to power film production lights on location either in the outdoors or other locations such as barns and such where there may be no place to plug in. All the videos I've seen have demonstrated this thing to be crazy quiet for a generator, which will be a big plus on film sets. I'm still planning on making an insulated enclosure (ventilated for airflow) for film sets when I cannot place the generator far enough away. This generator seems to be a crazy bang for the buck, especially with the current sale on it.
@@1001Hobbies glad I could help in some small way. I have one of the Honda 2000 watts and this is about the same sound if not a touch quieter and it seems pretty well built. I got mine in the spring during their generator days but I do know they have coupons and sales throughout the year too. At 800.00 it's almost not worth not having
@@ryansrestorationrescues - I've watched a lot of videos of this generator and while it is running the guys have no problem talking and being able to be heard over the sound of the generator. Thats amazing. Seeing you relying on it for the type of work you do for a living also gives me confidence in it. Harbor Freight has really been stepping up their game on their products. I bought one of their Bauer battery powered drill guns a few years ago and it has impressed the heck out of me. Battery lasts a long time, and it's got plenty of power. For a mere $60 (battery included) it is a steal. They also now have quite a reputation for their Predator line of generators.
@@1001Hobbies yes. Technically for heat I could run the truck at night but it's not good for them anymore and when I get a chance on the cooler fall nights I definitely just sleep in the quiet but I rely on it pretty heavily. The whole predator line is good and while I have a Milwaukee half inch impact I know a lot of truck drivers that have bought the earthquake half inch impact from Harbor freight and love them. The hand tools all have a lifetime warranty and the other nice thing is, there are so many harbor freight locations popping up that you can usually find one for replacements when on the road
So pretty
Forgotten Blue Gem 💎
Are those straps actually strong enough in that layout?
@@grabasandwich that's a great question. Working strength is well above the total weight of the truck. I tried to chain it but with the running boards and everything there is no good place to get my chains. That prompted me to immediately go order the hook sets like the car hauler chains have to worry about suspicious eyes
Lincoln
Bronco
Home? Or to the junk yard😂
OJ special! Lol
The Lincoln
Would be hard. My Dad always wanted a Bronco, so that means that I do too. However, that Hot Rod Lincoln simply can’t be passed up.
Hurt
Leave her like she is, she’s a beauty
Man that's nice! You definitely never see metal dealership badges much any more. At least not here in central Ohio
Rust bucket
Shitbox
Going be nice trucks
The front one is beautiful. Been completely restored with 7.3 Godzilla
On Route 66 of course
Love the old trailer brake handle and dual gas tanks. Looks like a cherry. If I found one like that I'd clear coat it and put some nice wheels on it (not 20's either) and enjoy.
@@eddieplonk4351 the brake controller actually worked! I didn't hook it up to a trailer but the lever would move when i pressed the brake pedal
Drive it, care for it, and keep it looking good. Oh, and drive it some more
Same answer as him 👆
I would leave it alone,to many are jacked up these days. Nothing better than stock.
