those postimpressionist paintings are still imitative. they're not unlike the renaissance paintings which are full of unnatural patterns and so on. art is always an artifice.

Did Hume actually reference Rebecca Black? Because she seems to be cropping up as the standard example in every Hume on Taste video I've watched... 😆

First of all, why you shooting in the graveyard?😭..second of all, the mathematical sublimity corresponds to infinity and how we attempt to dumb it down through our limited faculties, right? Great vid btw👍

Like the reason why men might walk away from someone claiming to be a virgin. You aren't neuralink connected to the individual's brain. You shouldn't judge their motive!

if what you said is true, then any object or painting that is just an "clusterfuck of different shapes or colors" or "scribble" would cause freeplay bc it is not in understanding and is therefore beautiful, but that doesn't happen

Not true, if the mind doesn’t have at least some kind of form to latch on to it will just match it to the concept of “chaos” or “disorder”

paraphrasing this stuff with casual everyday examples makes it easier to get the vibe, which is important to gain a cohesive understanding of strings of information that otherwise tend to become strewn around with the passage of time and distance from book. thank you for your work.

great video, but at a few points throughout you used "objective" where "universal" would be better, since judgments of beauty are described as "subjective" (emanating from the subject or invidual, since the rational human is making the judgement) and "universal" (any rational human would agree and make the same judgement, experiencing pleasure of displeasure). Therefore, saying "objective" is at least misleading the viewer.

what about subjective universality on beauty? You didn’t even talk about the main thing that distinguished the beautiful from the other two categories.

Humans are ultimately guided by ideas, not truths. That’s why humans with low rationality (majority) are easy to control. I’m not just speaking rhetoric, here are some sources that prove: Gustave Le Bon- The Crowd, Ed Bernays- Proganda/Crystalizing Pubic Opinion/Public Relations, Sigmund Freud- Group Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego, Human Action by Ludwig Mises

Similar to Bedford Forrest, Western society tries to portray Hitler as a horrendous immoral being, but refuses to hear his side of the story or analyze both sides before reaching a VALID conclusion
