Hiccup looks like sam Winchester.
Have you ever seen the two live action adaptations of "The Flintstones"?
Noooo
At least it looks better than the minecraft movie teaser
Eh, at least that has an artistic style tbh
I feel like the first movie will adapt most likely The Pilots and Season 1, which is smart. The 2nd movie could combine elements from Season 2, 3, and maybe even 5 and bring Overlord and Morro into the Picture. The 3rd movie could be Tournament of Elements, wrapping the Trilogy up with Garmadon's sacrifice.
Hmm interesting....
Cole is a mixture of Asian and white his mom was Asian definitely his dad was like white mixed with Asian or something and Cole is a country boy and a rock and roll fan too
Also Wu sounds like a southern white man who’s a fan of the Asian culture
wow well you heard it here first folks
@@official_talksik but I loved your video and good take on your thoughts do you have discord
Thank you so much! No, we don't have a discord server set up.
@@official_talksik I gotcha well could you make a video reviewing my ninjago live action project video
I'll check it out!!
Fun fact when you mentioned Lloyd casting I see him white because he also had a southern accent in the season finale in season 1 when he’s training on the bounty
Yo this stream is kinda lit
they couldn't even get twins, to play the twins?
I guess not lol
Sabrina Carpenter. Was. Right. THERE!!! She would've made an awesome Astrid... and this is coming from a black girl.
This was the BEST POSSIBLE CASTING IDEA. I would've died.
Ok so like why are you literally me I did all of the things you said you did at the beginning of the video lol
httyd was my entire childhood lol
Sadly ive never read all 12 books. But i only read 1 Book mabye its the 3rd book but that was the only Httyd book ive read and it came from my school.
Mmm y'know they're all great in their own way
@@official_talksik Ye i laughed my .._0 off when i read the 3rd book.
15:51 "Hum dee hum hum, just gettin' on ma boots!!"
If only he were faster than a speeding bullet...
woof
Rawr
I don't see why people need to cry about this... I mean... it's not like the og movies are gone, they still exist.
It’s literally like if you were an artist creating something and someone repainted it or something and in doing so changed something and they get more credit. It’s sad… this even happens with music artists.
Who's crying, sorry?
wtf...?
I remember I read the books when I was around 9-10 years old, I loved them! I used to send Cressida Cowell emails to tell her how much I loved them (but in the most cringe kid way). I adore the movies and always have but they feel separate to the books to the point I don't think I could compare them. But on the topic of the live action remake... I'm doubtful it will be any good, only thing I am looking forwards to is the merch reruns and potentially neat collectors items lol
I gotta say, I feel that if dreamworks are thinking of more httyd movies, they should have either done a more faithful book adaptation (like you said) or they should have made a prequel or something (like a stoick movie or something) OR a sequel to the hidden world about trying to live life without the dragons ( but then again no dragons would probably make the series lose its magic, but bringing back the dragons would kinda make the third film feel pointless). I feel like live action remakes have never been anything more than a money grab, and they are almost never even close to the original, and its even worse since a remake for a film series that had its most recent installment 5 years ago is just so badly timed. The point about astrid being birracial is valid, but overall the cast just seems like a b tier cast (apart from gerard). Then again, getting some generic a tier actor like tom holland to play hiccup would be even worse. all in all it feels like this movie is just a cash grab, especially considering the financial situation dreamworks is in, and it may just end up having "a made for tv" sort of quality.
Good take lol 👍
They need to switch the casting at the last moment. Or they need to put a lot of make up on the person who is playing astrid to make her look white. Because I make imagination can't seem to picture that actor and astrid together, it just doesn't work.
Apparently recently the actress said that they were giving everything a different spin, so I don't even think you're meant to see them together I guess
@@official_talksik Well my childhood crumbled in front of my eyes
0:10 SO she took that personally
I knew that HTTYD was originally a book series, but I never heard exactly what they’re about. After hearing you talk about them and wish for an adaptation loyal to the books, I really want to give them a shot. I grew up on the movies and absolutely LOVED them, and if the books are better than the movies (like you said), I’m willing to give them a try!! Also, as for Astrid’s casting, I can understand where people are coming from. As for historical accuracy, there were usually of Scandinavian (white) descent, but after a quick google search, it looks like there were only a few persons of color who were vikings back in the day (an example being Geirmund Heljarskinn, an Icelander who was the son of a Norwegian merchant and a Samoyed woman). Anyways, I believe that we should all hope that the actress does a great job portraying Astrid’s character! :)
Yeah! I'm sure the actress will do a great job with it, I'm just worried about the writing. And yeah, absolutely read the books if you get the time! I'm going back through them again right now, they're so lovely.
I have read and adored all the books, but for me the animated franchise is still the best. I’m hopeful for the remake, especially with Powell and Deblois’ return as composer and director. Still, I am worried about tarnishing the good name of such a glorious IP
That's super surprising to me!
I’m not nervous Dean DeBlois who did the trilogy is helming the remake and the cast especially Mason Thames and Nick Frost are pretty good so far
Have you seen the most recent casting news? We have a short about it on the channel
:_: why
Let’s just hope they do a good job at their acting because I’m gonna die if they don’t
People forgetting what makeup and sfx can do nowadays.
I think movies rely too much on sfx nowadays
With fishlegs' casting, why does the actor (their name escapes me at the moment) who's casted have black hair? I havemt read the books but from what i know of Celtic/Scandinavian people, black hair would be very uncommon
Httyd will never get the justice it deserves 😔
Unfortunately true
WHY DO THEY HATE US?!?!?!
I DON'T KNOW but I think it's personal
Who hates who? What am I missing?
This remake is totally pointless the animated Trilogy can never ever be topped. Why recast everybody apart from Stoick? That's as bad as recasting everybody in Lion King 2019 expect for Mufasa. Plus Jay and America are the irreplaceable Hiccup and Astrid and the new actors don't look half as good!
The remake trend is not one I'm happy with
Stoick is very old
I agree so much!
its dreamworks....they bearly do remakes sooooo
Yeah! We'll see how it turns out
I'm just gonna hope for the best that they're taking aspects from the movies, while telling a story that's more faithful to the books. Heck, even the director said in the past that he's not a fan of Disney's remakes, so I gotta trust him on this.
I'm a bit less optimistic, but I'll hope for the best!
finally someone who appreciates the books in their entirety !! whenever i tell someone my special interest is httyd they try to make me decide which is better, the books or the films, and i'm always hearing that the films are, just because nobody takes the time to read the whole book series - not to mention these are almost incomparable in their nature and as you mentioned, the books are heavily underappreciated. instead of trying to profit from a remake of a great series (despite some obvious flaws and disappointments regarding the 3rd film of the trilogy and like they already have tried to do with shows like nine realms which. don't even get me started on...), i wish someone would make an accurate book adaption as they've already passed up so many opportunities to. and of course cressida cowell deserves more credit for shaping people like me's childhoods alongside the films that were based off her world
Yeah! I'm almost tempted to ignore the remake entirely, and just really hope that something book-accurate happens years later. The third movie is super emotional and has some great parts, but they really ripped off the end of the book series and tried to stick it on the end of theirs which felt pretty awkward.... what were your thoughts on that?
@@official_talksik oh boy this is gonna be a LONG one i apologise in advance 😭
@@official_talksik okay, as someone who indulged in every piece of the franchise available, both books and films, i was very quick to jump to defend the third film when i was younger but now i recognise how much potential was wasted - don’t get me wrong i still love every second of it, it just seems a little inconsistent with the themes and almost as if they tried to tie it back to the original storyline of the books even though it had developed to the point that the movie franchise was almost unrecognisable to it, so instead, it just seemed out of place. they needed a more realistic, definitive reason. if you've watched series like race to the edge you know that they've defeated tough enemies and prevailed. viggo was definitely a far more matched opponent to hiccup than grimmel, despite his more developed technology regarding deathgrippers and everything. not to mention the fact that it’s unrealistic for berk to be completed overcrowded by dragons - like yes, the people of berk get attached to dragons, but their goal was always to rehabilitate and, as you see in the series, bringing them back to islands where their species thrive. atp it would be more realistic if without the dragons killing vikings that berk was allowed to flourish and become overpopulated and thus more dragons blahblah you get the point. this might be somewhat the case in the films but it was mainly to do with their attachment to rescued dragons. now, one of the main themes is defying nature, starting w the fact that hiccup both as a runt - for example in the books, where you see the tradition of abandoning them as babies (like fishlegs) but this wasnt the case for hiccup (valka also brings similar up in the 2nd film) - and as someone who becomes disabled due to losing his leg, he is able to survive and adapt through his intelligence. furthermore, the idea of a ‘downed dragon is a dead dragon’ with toothless, but both of them end up being stronger together - which is. literally the entire message of the 2nd film. frustratingly completely abandoned in the third. a more plausible ending for the movie franchise wouldve been gradual separation, which is what it is in the books iirc. im glad they at least visit like toothless and windwalker did in the books tho in addition, valka would stand by these ideals and yet she didnt question the idea of dragons hiding whatsoever, even somewhat suggested it to hiccup - despite the fact that she rehabilitated dragons that literally would no longer survive in the wild without her help. and yet suddenly she thinks they should hide. all because of a human who, although isnt a terribly written villian, most definitely isnt enough of a reason for the dragon race to disappear off the face of the earth. and i know its not just grimmel, but the idea previously was always that they will work towards making the world a better place where both humans and dragons can thrive, whereas in the BOOKS, hiccup's goal all along was to free the dragons, not to create a world safe for them because he understood the danger. its outright unrealistic and inconsistent with valka's character AND hiccup's even though he ofc developed a lot and his character was developed REALLY well might i add but thats a whole other rant. anyway, yes, humans are assholes. yes, there will always be people to try to break up their power but their relationship is made to prevail. it felt so empty and anticlimactic after everything they went through together that was shown before. it took away the meaning of the previous films and series and everything… now i havent read the books in a while but it made FAR more sense for the dragons to disappear for safety and was also actually hinted at through the entire series whereas for me, i dont think it worked for the films. i LOVED the use of the iconic ‘there were dragons when i was a boy...” but they got it. so. wrong. anyway separated from the context of the franchise its a great film but it was disappointing in relation to inconsistencies. wasnt the ending wanted for the trilogy or in honour of the books
Oh my goodness that was long lol. I agree, I think Grimmel is sort of the worst part of the movie, especially since he's nowhere near as threatening as the people from the previous movies or shows. Maybe it could've worked without any bad guys and it could've just been a character study- After all, the movies are pretty strong on character and pretty weak on plot. I get chills every time I hear "There were dragons when I was a boy," but it's empty, it's a payoff with practically no setup. Maybe they could've said that now that Toothless is the Alpha, he's responsible for all the dragons' safety, and since it's time for him to go off with the Light Fury, the others need to follow. Idk, but Grimmel wasn't the best way to handle it by any means.
@@official_talksik again, so sorry for the length. like i said, special interest. VERY passionate 😭 but i completely agree !! and also yeah that line hits so hard everytime. jay's execution was perfect but it definitely needed a better set up, like in the books. something i do love is the fact that one consistency between the book and the films was hiccup trying to be the voice of peace and using his intelligence instead of always fighting straight up. of course this was executed very differently in the films but it was a core feature of his character i'm very glad they kept. i think grimmel is the weakest villian seen character wise. also night furies are the most intelligent species we see in the franchise. theres no way they went extinct from GRIMMEL. they probably moved further south as well as its stated they prefer warmer climates. either that, or the main reason i can think of for no other night furies being in the hidden world is that toothless, who doesnt seem to remember exactly where he came from or im sure he wouldve tried to fly there, came from further south as furies can travel long distances and fast, especially in comparison to other dragons. this would make it more logical for light furies to live up north as they seem to be more adapted to snow climates and i could elaborate but thats a whole other rant (again)... i get toothless is supposed to be unique and that's great and all but he can be unusual and different for being in berk in the first place without being the last night ever fury iygwim. i probably wouldnt mind if that was the case if it wasnt an undeveloped villain claiming to have killed them all... unrelated but i wish we had a chance to see bioluminescent furies because you can see that toothless has patterns even though theyre not very visible but they just kinda ignored this </3 again this could suggest that hes not adapted to / didnt originate from the hidden world but like... glowing toothless... :< on that note, how come there wasn't already an alpha of the hidden world. the consistency we see in the franchise is the fact that the only logical thing i can think of to make it make sense would be drago's bewilderbeast, who we do see again in the third film, bowing to toothless and the other dragons being like “aight ok seems legit ig’ light fury was disappointing too, i think she was too undeveloped. i ADORE her concept but i think the execution was poor and that she had a lot more potential. even more so the relationship with toothless was rushed, and i know they're wild animals and i get that realistically in the wild light fury probably wouldn't accept him as a mate if he couldn’t fly on his own but like. she had so little screen time for her to just leave with toothless. i just wish they developed her character more - her main traits were being a female fury and scared of humans. she kinda lacked a personality all in all. they could’ve just developed her a BIT more and she'd be amazing. i wish theyd also made her design less stereotypically feminine what w the sparkles and whatnot. she still cute tho and yeah, ofc toothless had a responsibility to protect the dragons as their alpha but i also think its a little weird that none of the other dragons objected to this even if not totally unrealistic - i mean, toothless stood up to drago's bewilderbeast because of his bond w hiccup - why wouldn't others object to a far more sensible leader, even if they're afraid of humans like grimmel i think you're right about the character study part. i really understand the diversion away from the pure dependency on each other but there is definitely a better way to show rising independency, what with hiccup realising he doesnt need toothless to be a good chief and toothless being able to have his own separate dragon family but this could be done WITHOUT the removal of their relationship entirely. like i said previously, i think they needed a more drastic reason for the dragons to go into hiding. i love that it was a mutual decision and understanding between toothless and hiccup with respect. it really works that toothless has something that allows him to be independent but you can do that without removing the element of teamwork. their relationship just seems unnaturally disconnected which i dont think would happen, atleast not that quickly also i think it was mentioned that they do maintenance on toothless' tail every so often in a short film or smth but im not sure. yes i know its fantasy and all but i think it is unrealistic that toothless would have a perfect tail all of a sudden and not have any problems with it - ofc it would be fireproof because of the scales and whatever but that doesn't mean it wouldn't get torn or literally just rust or break because its definitely more fragile than his skin and is partially metal. ain't gonna last buddy...

The force ability of a person isn’t entirely locked in at birth. There is a small amount of maneuverability in it with years of training. I’m mainly upset because Disney refuses to let Mandolorians be the badasses that they’re meant to be.
Yeah, I guess I can understand that lol
And after years she still sucks at it, seems pretty reasonable to me
It's definitely not that big a deal
