Beinn Chabhair | Summit 360 | Crianlarich | Scotland
Darren and I visited the Crianlarich hills to take on Beinn Chabhair. The summit views were absolutely incredible and made the climb in the scorching heat very much worth the effort.

A seriously windy day in Crianlarich. Join me and Stu as we climb Ben More and Stob Binnein in some tough conditions. Apologies for the distorted audio throughout and lack of footage. Unfortunately 80% of the footage was unusable and I had a GoPro failure between the tops.

Join me as I explore the stunning Scottish mountains of Meall a Bhuiridh and Creise. Located in Glencoe, these two mountains are often climbed together and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding area. It's great to be back in Glencoe but I am saddened by the recent news from the area. It really hits home how dangerous the mountains can be as a solo walker. RIP Kyle Sambrook and Bane. Respe...

Another stunning day in the West of Scotland. Setting off from Kintyre later than usual diverted me from my plans of the Ben Starav three. The obvious choice was to go to the two Munros I spotted from my last trip to Beinn Mhanach. It was time to get myself to Victoria Bridge and bag myself two of the Black Mountains in Stob Ghabhar and Stob a'Choire Odhair. Join me as I work my way to the summ...

Great video, thanks for sharing. Just wondering your thoughts on the scramble up An Stuc? Thinking of doing this loop soon, but been a while since done any proper scrambling and heard mixed reviews on the difficulty. Is 7:12 the main part of it?
Hi there. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video. 6:58 through to 7:12 show the scramble which I'd say looks much more intimidating from afar. Once you're on it, there isn't too much effort to get past it in summer conditions. It's a steep ascent with a path that winds but that means you're at the summit quicker. Hope it goes well for you 👍
@@kintyrehiker Thanks for your reply. Cheers, will probably look for a dry day 👍
Great job!
Thank you for sharing your helpful video
@@mohammadasgaryan6676 Hi. Thanks for taking the time to check it out 👍
Such beautiful views.
Hi Jennifer. It was such an amazing day. Looking forward to climbing these two again. Thanks for watching the video 👍
Stunning video. 😊🙌I’ve still to do Stuc a Chroin. It’s such a beautiful place. Did Ben vorlich with my two dogs last July. Hoping to get Stuc this year via Ben vorlich again or by Benn Each from loch Lubnaig. 🙌🥾🥾
It's such a wonderful viewpoint and a pleasant climb out of winter conditions ⛰️I hope you get the weather for your climb of both Munros 🌄 I like the idea of going via Ben Each as well. I'll be back to try this route for sure 👍 All the best. David.
Thanks another great video and stunning views! 🥾🥾☀️🙌
Superb video, cracking weather and views! 🙌😊🥾🥾☀️
We couldn't ask for better conditions on this climb. What a way to spend a Thursday afternoon with one of my close friends. Seeing Beinn Dorian from the roadside was intoxicating. Seeing the view from the summit absolutely made our day. Thanks for checking out the video 👍
Really helpful video! Giving it a try this Friday
Thanks for checking out the video and I hope you get some good weather for the climb. There's a hydro track which you can now use to bypass the Glen. Maybe worth a try 👍
Thank you for the Video. I climbed it in early January 24, it was a clear, sunny calm freezing cold day with a lot of snow, it made it easier as I think this is a bog monster, but everything was frozen solid so no sinking in
Hi there. I think you chose the right time to take it on. The frozen ground would be a real bonus in the mid stage of the climb. It's certainly one I'll revisit. All the best 👍 Dave
@@kintyrehiker aye, it’s great for a winter climb, I haven’t done much of that so was a great experience. It was mobbed that day, mostly folk up from Glasgow, always nice sociable people, I’m from Aberdeen, all the best, Angus
I used to go to Mote Park from a child to 17 when I moved for College in 1969. I lived in West Park Road, and used to use the entrance there. Do you have any photos. Thinking of visiting this year. I now live in Mallorca. Thanks Lesley
I don't have any other pictures to share unfortunately. I tended to avoid using my phone and just enjoy the walk. This video was a one off. The loop around the park is ideal for an evening walk. A favourite of mine when I was in Maidstone.
Incredible nature! Fantastic capture of this stunning landscape 👏👏👏
Agreed. A day with good visibility around Crianlarich allows for some stunning views across the Southern Highlands and beyond ⛰️👍
Great views. People always comment on the tops, the valleys and the lakes, I like the skies. Best wishes out there. New subscriber. Best wishes on the next adventure.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my channel 👍 Looking forward to getting into the snowline over the next few months 🏔️ You can't beat a winter's day sunrise. ATB. David.
Beautiful views!
Very Nice David - Lochan Ben Chabhair and Lochan a Casteil , I need to get up to them two again...👍👍
Thanks Dave 👍 We had to take advantage of the dry conditions and decided to climb it from the Crianlarich side. A cracking day out. Certainly one I'd do again.
Great vlog I'm taking this on tomorrow but meall garbh an stuc and ben lawers where did u find map of route thank u
Hi and thanks for checking out the video. I really appreciate your feedback. Best of luck with the walk and I hope you get those amazing views. I just used the OS OL48 map but there is a route on walk highlands matching the route you described. www.walkhighlands.co.uk/perthshire/meall-garbh.shtml All the best. Dave 👍
Where's that drone?..😂paul
Hello and welcome to David and the GoPro 🤣 Perfect day for the drone 😭
Stunning Dave. 😎 Always fancied heading down the peninsula. That bay looking stunning. Perfect place for a pitch. ⛺ Bet you hardly saw a soul anaw.
Hi Kev. Being such a remote place I didn't meet a soul out there. It was so peaceful. The inneans bay is an absolute gem of a location. Well worth the long walk in and as you say ideal for a pitch overlooking those amazing sunsets. Let me know if you decide to head down this way 👍
@@kintyrehiker You stay down that way? Will do bud. 👍
@@Kev_Russ Aye I'm down in Campbeltown. Quite a trek to get up to the Northern munros so I've decided to capture some local hills here in Kintyre this summer. Might do the Kintyre way if I can get a week off 👍
Great video guys, keen on doing this walk, thanks for the info. Will def keep an eye on your channel!
Thanks for checking the video out. I'm glad you liked it. I've been up there a few times now. An Caisteal is a fantastic viewpoint especially in winter. I hope you get the weather when you decide to take it on. Many thanks Dave.
Well done David. Another great video
Thanks guys. Best of luck with your new channel. You'll smash it 💪
A wee bitty windy there David but still cracking views and quite a tough wee ascent up Ben More it is...👍👍
Thanks Dave. My legs are still a wee bit tender today. I'm looking forward to getting my mountain legs back over the summer.
Nice one Dave. Windy indeed 🌬️ cheeky wee shelter on Ben More there. I cannae mind that wee cleft bit.
The wee shelter was perfect. It's hard to see on the camera but the hail was absolutely smashing us. It could be easily missed to be honest Kev. We were just desperate to get to it from about 700m 😂💨❄️ Thanks for checking out tonights short video 👍
Searched Beinn Bhuidhe in YT last night & found your vid. Then realised am already subbed tae ya. 😉 Nice video Dave. Pity aboot the clag. Went up the day in Nice conditions 🌞😎
You chose a cracking day for it Kev ☀️ Glad you got better conditions than me 👍 Did you go up the hydro path or up the gorge?
@@kintyrehiker Went up the gorge and down other side of the gorge. Easier grassy slopes other side.
@@Kev_Russ Great choice. Enjoy the rest of your Easter weekend Kev. I'll keep my eye out for your next video 👍
@@kintyrehiker Cheers bud. You too. 👍
Gorgeous Dave...☀👍👍
Blessed to have that wee hill on my doorstep. A nice leg stretcher before Ben More & Stob Binnien on Monday. Hope you have a great weekend 👍 Dave
Nice one - was up in Kintail last week for A Ghlas Bheinn - Ben Vorlich & Stuc a Chroin next week or two - enjoy Ben More...👍👍
That was brilliant Dave - some amazing views you got up there and well filmed...belter! 🥾🥾👍
Thanks Dave. I couldn't have asked for better conditions. A fine day in Glencoe. Looking forward to your next video 👍
Great video Dave. Stunning day eh Doesnae get any better. 😎👌
A belter of a day indeed Kev. Thanks for checking it out 👍 As ever, I look forward to your next video of the dynamic duo 😎
@@kintyrehiker cheers bud. 👍
Looks awesome and a great day for it !! 👍👍
Beautiful bit of filming and scenery. 👍👍
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and for your feedback. I couldn't have asked for better conditions on this one. I captured hours of footage of the perfect visibility over the Highlands. One of my favourites thus far.
No problem - really cracking area and very nicely edited, great when you catch the perfect conditions in the mountains. 🥾🥾👍
Hi can I ask how long the route took you please
Hi Steve. Roughly around 8 hours for me on this route. Took my time and enjoyed the views. You'd probably manage it in 7 hours going flat out.
@@kintyrehiker thanks for the reply let's hope the weather holds out this week .all the best 👌
nice video how long did it take to get up and down
Hi David. Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it. It took around 7 hours up and down. Fast ascent to Cruach Ardrain in the poor weather and then I chilled out and dropped the pace once it improved nearer Beinn Thulachean. Had to capture those views. A fantastic day walk all round and thoroughly recommended if you wish to approach from the West.
@@kintyrehikerThanks for getting back to me I plan to do the Cruach Ardrain before the weather gets bad I did the Beinn Tulaichean from the other side but was not feeling like Ardrain on the day the views are amazing I did Ben Chabhair last Thursday I came in from the North side missed out the climb from the Drovers was a bit boggy but not as bad as coming in from the drovers It took me 6 hours
@@davidmccormack5973 Very good. I'm still waiting to get up Beinn Chabhair and as you say, it's been difficult with the weather. I've got Ben More to do as well so I might combine them with a wild camp. Best of luck with Cruach Ardrain. Hope you get better views than I did.
Cracking video thanks for sharing.I was coming down from An Casteil/Beinn a' Chroin the other day and spoke to another walker who said he believed Cruach Ardrain has to be approached through the forest at crianlarich if I wanted to approach from the west, your video has shown me otherwise so glad I came across this, many thanks again!!
Good informative video, plan to do it this weekend so thanks for advice.
Really enjoyed these two. Hope you get the weather for the weekend. The views across the other Crianlarich hills and over to Ben Lui are fantastic.
Thank you for the very informative video, this is one I've been wanting to do for ages and now after watching this I feel more confident in doing so
Hi William. It really is one of the most stunning mountains in the Highlands. I hope you get some good weather for your ascent. Enjoy.
A bit windy! Beautiful scenes nonetheless 🙌
Great hike Thanks for sharing ATB Tam
It's an absolute cracker of a hike. Couldn't of had a better day for it either. Thanks. Dave
@@kintyrehiker Looked amazing They are on my to do list
Nice 1 Keep up the good work ATB Tam
very interesting and good watch. weather looked very poor! 🌧☂️
One of the toughest so far in those conditions Peter. Enjoyed the challenge of pushing my skills to the limit in poor visibility. Thanks for watching 😀
Interesting regarding the wade. So on the way up, I took my boots and socks off and waded through (was a reasonable amount deeper than in your video, no surfacing stones) and it was *freezing* to the point of extreme pain, and I just had to precariously power on while maintaining my balance. I couldn't go through that again, so on the return leg, I just marched through in my boots and it was 10 times as easy, didn't feel cold, and it was much faster. Since coming home, I've learned that fording in boots is a commonly done thing and that wet feet aren't a big deal for one walk. Funnily enough, my feet were pretty wet by the end anyway even before the power-wade.
I'm not sure on the exact science behind it but when I was serving, we were always told to go across a river crossing with aggression and in full kit. Eventually the water would purge from the boot and your feet would start to heat whatever was left. I've not tried it any other way but if it's anything like how you've described, I certainly don't fancy it. Another trick to keep the feet dry is goretex socks. I think it was Seal Skins I used before and would recommend. Always worth having a pair tucked in the rucksack if you are going to be out for anything longer than a day.
Did these two a couple of weeks ago. Had a great day. Really good to relive some of the salient moments. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching. Another cracking day for us. Enjoyed the scrambles and the views out to the West. Hope to get back and do some of the others in the area soon.
Looks Amazing 👍👌
Cracking day to take in those amazing views Peter. Plenty cloud cover to save me from burning to a crisp 🤣 but still very humid. Hope all is well.
Thanks for posting. What a stunning day you had. My all-time favourite Munro. Good to know there is a way over (under) the Railway now. I did Ben Lui three times from Tyndrum in the lats 80s. It's on my list for this year again.
Hi Jerry. Thanks for watching. Agreed, Ben Lui is such a stunning Munro and I can see why you've been up multiple times. Apart from the bog, it's an absolute pleasure to climb. Hope you get as lucky as I did with the weather. Dave
I assume the done thing was to cross the railway prior to the culvert walkway, or did you take a different route?
Useful video, there's nothing beats actually seeing the route on the ground .. many thanks and keep your journey through the hills going :)
Hi Paddy. Thanks for watching. It's a shame I couldn't get more footage of the summit. It was very challenging in those poor weather conditions. Certainly my toughest Munro so far.
Looks good David, what drone are you using?
Hi. Thanks for taking the time to check out the video. It's a DJI Mavic air I'm using at the moment.
@@kintyrehiker Nice, I'm local too. Just got my first drone and was at mote pard yesterday, it's a lovely place with great views.
Great video! Glad you've made it back to the hills. Keep up the amazing work on the channel
Hi Luke. Thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was so refreshing getting back on a Munro even with the poor conditions. I've set a goal to climb two Munros every month so hopefully I'll get the drone up and also get better at talking into a camera :) Take care.
Nice work!! planning on doing this soon. How long did it take in total?
Hi Andy. Thanks for taking the time to watch. It's such a fantastic walk and a real bonus to get 2 Munros in. It took me roughly 7 hours but I did spend a lot of time filming and just sitting at the top of Beinn Ime. I'd aim for around 6 hours walking at a good pace. FYI the car park card machine doesn't work sometimes so take cash. I hope you get a good day for it. Enjoy.
*beautiful
Thanks Andi, didn't spot that one. I've somehow managed to say Mimmes Bay instead. That's the trouble with editing late at night 😂
Hi new to your channel great video . You did an awesome job. Nicely done. You just got a big thumbs up from me and a new subscriber here.cheers
Hello. Thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to watch the video.
