Grim. Edinburgh is a beautiful city but this pretty much sums up what riding a bike in the UK is like.

Wish someone had done this in the 70's, 80's and 90's to show how things changed in those times.

Pity it isn’t cycle path all the way

Great a Lot of the old railway Lines have been a boon to cyclists, now that there are so many cars etc.. I only know the center of Edinburgh really , as lived in Lochrin place off Leven street for about a year worked at Cockenzie Power station Long time ago 1966

Thank you for this video. It looks too dangerous for me to try. I wish that all bike paths could be connected with each other in a safer way without the need to mix with heavy traffic.

Awesome! Was wondering how did you film this, the video is fairly stable - I have a phone holder on my bike and I try to film using the camera, but the video comes out really shaky

Shit pavement with white line, shared path with dogs and people and a trip up haymarket terrace which has the worst road surface in Edinburgh. Good to see Edinburgh City Councils pro cycling approach is having the desired affect 🤔

Thanks for sharing this. 20 years ago I'd cycled/driven/delivered along this route. The northern side from "Harry Ramsden's" to Asda was new to me. Edinburgh has changed so much!

They're lovely routes, but there's so much wasted space, pretty much everywhere except a few of the waterfront sections has room for both a pedestrian path and segregated bidirectional cycle lanes. In most stretches you could even leave in the greenery on one side and still have that extra room. Hopefully they push through making the Spaces for People permanent and go back to refine the walkway infrastructure.
