hey guys, the SPII does exist, my brother was the guy that painted the bumper bar, bonnet and wing when mazda built it. apparently mazda took it apart after they showed it off ans the parts to rebuild it are still in storage... but i think its still going around. but i havent seen it in 10+ years.... i love this car... i hope to own an SP one day its my dream. DMRH69 good on you for bringing these great memories back.

Cant wait till I can import a JC cosmo. These cars were ahead of their time, and they look great being lowered with big rims and a good paint polish or repaint. And it doesnt take much to make them fast either

you obviously dont know what an SP RX7 is then.

Tracks do have noise limits & this would even fail on the track...... Performance dies dramitically when you close the valve. Wont rev, wont make power, bearly runs

How much does it affect performance when you close the valve? Would a PP like that be allowed on the track? I thought tracks had noise level limits?

I'd never opt for the 13B version, or ruin it with a big wing. But man those nice 20b ones with the large mags filling out the gaurds sure do look sweet. Long live the tripe rotary Cosmo baby!

I remember standing next to the SPII at a motorshow as a kid (can't remember which year) but i have a pic with it. IIRC the interior had yellow accents. Ahhh the things I would do for that car!

@DMRH69 people who complain about rebuilding them have never owned 1 most of the time. You would think that piston engines never need to be torn down and rebuilt. The difference is a rotary engine requires less parts to rebuild and you can extract way more power for significantly less money with a rotary than a piston engine. Not to mention a rotary is smooth as silk and there is nothing like driving 1. Especially a turbo rotary :).

@rs200000000000 A rotary engine is like a race horse. Treated well, you get many years of high performance from it. Mistreated & it fails prematurely. Power is proportional to Petrol. The more power it makes, the more Petrol it takes. Yes, a 2lt rotary engine (3-rotor) chews plenty more petrol than a 2lt piston. But its making twice the power (production form from same era) Compared to a 1990 era 224KW V8, the 1990 era 224KW 3-rotor gave similar fuel consumption

The front & rear spoiler, bonnet vents etc where a copy of the Mazda "M2-division" special RX-7 called a "M2-1020" from 1992. It never made production but the design was copied by Mazda Australia & used on the RX-7SP in 1995. (thankfully without the JDM centre strut on the rear spoiler). Its history now all Rotor fans are thankful for any rotary powered racer that can take on the best from Porsche & win.
