Useful and convenient. I'm thinking of recycling one of the batteries for it with lithium ion cells soon.

When disassembling I marked which one connects where on the motor and then connected them the same way. In reality, if you swap them, the motor will rotate in the opposite direction to the direction switch. Nothing will be damaged.

@@wsgworkshop495 Excuse me, the battery you use to replace it, do you know if it is 4800 mAh, 6800mAh, 9800mAh or 12800mAh?

Since the battery was old, I recycled it by replacing all the cells inside with new ones. Nickel-cadmium 2500ma as far as I remember.

I'm glad you like my video. The drill has constant electronics (monitors revolutions with a Hall sensor). It is implemented with a round magnet at the back of the rotor (before the rear bearing) and when it is assembled it falls to the sensor (which is located on circuit board of the power switch).

I found a broken one for a donor. I couldn't find anywhere that only replacement gears were sold. Only the entire gearbox is for sale.

The switching power supplies give exactly the voltage for which they are made, unlike transformer ones. To explain you more is pointless.

Of course that's a good option too, but I had those NiMh batteries on hand so I put them in.

Do you need some kind of BMS for the lithium cell?

I use thinner mainly because I need quite a lot, and it's a lot cheaper than brake cleaner. I wait at least a day before assembling the machine to make sure it has completely evaporated and won't damage the new grease.

@@wsgworkshop495 Maybe you have noticed WD40 cleans off grease quite well - but it's also expensive. The main ingredient though is petroleum ("lamp oil") - which is relatively cheap and easy to get in 1l bottles. I use that to make a bath. I also have seen people use diesel for the cleaning job...

@@el_micha Come to think of it, perhaps the easiest way to clean the grease would be with gasoline. It should dissolve the grease and then evaporate quickly so I can re-grease the parts. When I run out of paint thinner, I'll try gasoline and kerosene. Thanks for the idea :)

@@wsgworkshop495 You're welcome. Everywhere I seen they use diesel, not gasoline. But I can't tell you why, I don't know the reason...

Lithium grease with NLGI consistency number: 0. This means thin grease (fast-rotating). It is used for the reducers of angle grinders. If you ask for exact brand "MC" .

From what I've seen, they look the same at first glance. I have not disassembled the DW version. It is possible that the difference is in the accessories that come with the machine (the case with bits)
