Sounds like the Final Racer will be a much stronger 800m runner like a Marco Arop or Emmanuel Wanyonyi or someone who's equally good in both events like Hobbs Kessler.

@@Dirk-my2zf Winning Gold even at the OG is a completely different ball game to breaking El Guerrouj's record. Ingebritsen wants to break them all and even he says this one will be the hardest. There's a few guys who are low 3:27 or 3:28 who are as competitive as Hocker at this distance, of them only Ingebritsen has gone sub 3:27. btw Hocker barely races outside the US, he ran in Glasgow and that was nothing special so don't be surprised international fans don't know his racing well. I caught him at the US trials but only because I was lucky enough to be in the US at the time.

I've been to the Grand Slam Track Website and watched MJ in a few interviews. The thing that bothers me is that there might be a bit too much emphasis on pop culture and social media influence of his GST chosen few. The MARKETING of GST is akin to a "reality show" track meet with the world's best... which I'm probably not interested in watching. I get what he's trying to do, but what my fellow boomer is missing is that pop culture and social media are fickle and easily manipulated. At the end of the day, with sport, "integrity" reigns (or at least the appearance of it). This is true no matter the age group or the sport. Since he's made comparisons to Grand Slam Tennis, its qualification is based solely on EARNED rankings... not popularity or socmed pages. No doubt T&F/Athletics needs a boost and I really want to see a Grand Slam format for T&F succeed, but he should be careful not to ruin the perception and integrity of the sport itself more than PEDs already ruined it some years back.

Starting from next year, the T&F World Championships which are currently every 2yrs are going to become an Annual Champs in non-OLY years & will be the final meet of the season going forward, so this means there will be a WC in Tokyo Sep '25, Budapest Sep '26 & Beijing Sep '27 leading up to the OLY in LA '28. The current Diamond League competition which is the premier regular season T&F competition will be restructured to build up to each WC going forward!
