Parenting Pep Talk: How Do I Build A Strong Connection With My Teenager | Bryan Ward | Ep. 246
Welcome to a new episode of The Dad Up Podcast. I’m excited to share another episode of Parenting Pep Talk.
In today's episode, I want to share a question I received from a fan of the show.
So I thought we could dive into the topic of building a deep connection with your teenager.
As parents, it is crucial to maintain a strong bond with our teenagers, as this connection plays a vital role in their emotional well-being, development, and overall happiness. So, let's jump right in!
Segment 1: Understanding the Teenage Mind
During adolescence, teenagers undergo significant physical, emotional, and cognitive changes.
They are exploring their identities, seeking independence, and experiencing intense emotions. Understand these emotions.
Segment 2: Active Listening and Effective Communication
Important to Practice genuine interest in their lives, thoughts, and concerns.
Encourage open and honest communication by creating a safe and non-judgmental space.
Avoid interrupting or dismissing their feelings, and instead, validate their experiences.
Segment 3: Quality Time and Shared Activities
Spending quality time with your teenager can strengthen your bond and create lasting memories.
Find activities that you both enjoy and make time for them regularly.
Segment 4: Respect and Trust
Building a deep connection requires mutual respect and trust.
Respect your teenager's opinions, even if you disagree.
Involve them in decision-making processes and show that their input is valued.
Avoid excessive control or micromanagement, as it can hinder the development of trust.
Segment 5: Empathy and Emotional Support
Adolescence can be a challenging time emotionally.
Show empathy and provide emotional support for your teenager.
Validate their feelings, offer guidance, and help them navigate through difficult situations. Safe to come to you.
Building a deep connection with your teenager is a journey that requires patience, understanding, and effort.
By practicing active listening, effective communication, spending quality time, and providing emotional support, you can create a strong and lasting bond with your teenager.
Remember, the teenage years are a precious time for growth and self-discovery, and your role as a parent is crucial in helping them navigate this transformative stage of life.

I saw your UA-cam channel and understand you are a very hardworking youtuber. Very nice video on your channel, I really enjoyed it. According to your channel, I noticed that you have good quality videos but the videos are not getting views and subscribers are not increasing. You need to optimize your channel and do video SEO to reach your target audience. Otherwise, if you upload videos to your channel throughout the year, none of your videos will get viral views. If your channel is optimized a little and if the videos are SEO then your channel will rank very fast and your channel will grow. And monetization of your channel will be on.

Bryan, Scott, guys, thanks for raising that super-important topic, of financial education, especially for kids. I guess it's now very much in demand because schools are not highlight financial topics. 💪 Now I understand that GravyStack is an app that teaches kids how to earn, save, invest, and share their real money since childhood. It cures many problems in marriage and parenting and saves time and money later. God bless you guys for your efforts. 🙏

I don't work for anyone. I have skills lacking a facility. Where I perform business (auto repair) is a facility lacking skills. My corporation (family) merged with the business I repair vehicle's at. I AM A CEO and this mindset has changed my world. More respect, opportunity, money, free time. Money can't buy happiness. But it will buy time to seek it.

Before turns or anything like that, you have to teach them to start moving forward smoothly and to slow down and stop smoothly. Then you show them how to do u-turns in an empty parking lot to get them used to how much you actually have to turn the wheel for different types of turns.
