In this video, you first see Comet Lovejoy in its perihelion (closest to the Sun) phase of its orbit around the Sun. The first half shows 171 Angstrom extreme ultraviolet (EUV) images from the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) instrument aboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) satellite. The first half shows 131 Angstrom extreme ultraviolet (EUV) images from SDO/AIA. The running difference...

Extreme ultraviolet, 171A, 193A, 211A and 304A images acquired by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) / Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) instrument. The Sun is first eclipsed by the Earth (SDO has eclipse "seasons") and then the moon follows. The Earth's shadow has a fuzzy edge because of the Earth's a...

      This is a colorization that we apply via a color map from pixel intensity to color. This is extreme ultraviolet light (EUV) that you would not be able to see with your eyes. The 304Å wavelength corresponds to the Helium II emission line. SDO/AIA is primarily an EUV imager, but includes a couple of UV channels and we take 1 white light image per hour.

    I have a 60HP motor that I am trying to use as a rotary phase converter. Do you think it would be feasible to use this technique (using a small 5HP single phase VFD) to slowly get the 60 HP motor up to speed then switch over to mains power?

    • @lmsaltest
      @lmsaltest 4 роки тому

      Hmmmm. 5HP is an awfully small VFD for a 60HP motor. You could try it, but the tricky part is the timing of disconnect VFD snd then powering the motor. You definitely want to do a full disconnect of the Vfd

    I was thinking of using Fresnel lens to heat the top simply using the sun, it can reach thousands of degrees in heat and liquid nitrogen for the bottom. Just popped in my mind randomly and I found this video! Do you think this would be plausible? Replacing the air with Helium is a good idea as well as it has higher thermal conductivity , a higher heat capacity, and a lower viscosity which will make the engine perform much better.!

    • @lmsaltest
      @lmsaltest 5 років тому

      Rolando Basaca, it would certainly increase the temperature difference, but you’d have to build a beefy unit to handle the large amount of heat you’d be putting into it. I’ve melted quarters with a fresnel lens. Pennies are trivial (Zinc), but quarters are mostly Nickel...

    It looks like holes in the ice of the North pole where seals breath. Does this indicate that there is a huge hollow space inbetween the Sun's hot surface and its core? Since the gravity of sun is stronger not in its center but in the middle position from Sun's surface to its center, there could be some possibility of hollow space inbetween the crust layer and core of the Sun. Time will tell us.

    • @shubhankardas1509
      @shubhankardas1509 3 роки тому

      isn't the sun just a ball of gas? There's no hollow part lol, the whole thing is just gas of varying densities.

    I *love* your videos. They're amazing! Question: doe we have sufficiently high resolution images of *strictly* sunspot evolution to make 4K UHD videos specific to sunspots? Where like the sunspot takes up the entire frame? What devices or observatories would be capable of this kind of imaging, if any? And has such imaging been done? I would *LOVE* (even more) to see 4K UHD movies of sunspot evolution. I want to see EXACTLY what's going no as sunspots evolve, in as high of resolution as possible.

    • @MGmirkin
      @MGmirkin 9 років тому

      As an aside, I can't help but note that the observable atmosphere/surface of the sun appears to be completely dominated by and under the sway of electromagnetic phenomena... Not surprising, given we already know that many specific features of solar surface / atmospheric phenomena are electromagnetic in nature... www.universetoday.com/29447/solar-sigmoids-explained/ Clearly there are large scale electric currents going on, as well as field-aligned currents ("Birkeland currents"). It's pretty clear that coronal loops and coronal "rain" are electromagnetic phenomena in plasma from start to finish. Easily analogized to the lab. (See: Paul Bellan's work.) ve4xm.caltech.edu/Bellan_plasma_page/ phys.org/news/2012-08-plasma-loops-solar-physics.html And I just don't see how anyone, with a modicum of understanding of electromagnetism & plasma (even without the ability to do differential maths & such), could look at it and think otherwise... One would assume we should be referring back to the work of Kristian Birkeland (for things like sunspots, coronal loops, prominences, etc.): www.plasma-universe.com/Texts:On_Possible_Electric_Phenomena_in_Solar_Systems_and_Nebulae If only science hadn't gotten trapped in the gravity-only paradigm for the better part of last century... How much further along in our understanding could we have been?

    some notes: The entities that line the sun spot sometimes arrive before the spot appear and they are not stacked up on top of each other as the image show. The granules the show bubbling are transforming into human entities and the sunspot creates horses which are shown above the sunspot.
