God is an artist and God created stars so that we could see star light on the 6th day of creation. BY THE WORD OF GOD THE same stars that we see today we could see as soon as God created man. It would take the light from Alpha Centauri more than four years to get to Earth, and Alpha Centauri is the closest star to earth. SO if God had not created the light from stars the Universe would be just a pitch black space all around earth. Some of the Star Light we see today would not be visible to us for millions and billions of years. So with that in mind since God created the star light for us to see today that is Billions of years away astronomers think that the universe is billions of years old. BUT also consider that 12 times the bible tells us that God created locally and He expanded the universe with his HAND.
