A true road safety expert would focus on the key root cause of road violence and not harp on about cycling as if it was the primary problem, repeating such stupid anti cycling misinformation.

The stupidity of these comments is stupefying. Firstly, in London there are a lot of streets that have too much traffic to be able to drive at more than 20 mph. The problem happens in streets where there isn't enough traffic and cars can pick their speed. These are more likely to be hyper residential narrow streets. Cars are a triple nuisance in residential areas: they are dehumanising to pedestrians, they create noise and vibrations that are felt inside the homes and they are dangerous to pedestrians. At 20 mph vs 30 mph, these nuisances are significantly reduced. Because traffic doesn't proceed at more than 20 mph in major axis that these small streets reach, there is no benefit in driving at more than 20 mph anyway. You're not happy with how cumbersome it is to drive a car in London ? Take the bus or the tube.

A few points/questions. The man who murdered the three little girls will not come before the court until January. No doubt his lawyers, probably provided by us, will be working on his mental health fitness in the meantime. Has anyone been arrested for appearing with bladed weapons in Birmingham yet? Anything moving on the Manchester airport case yet? If justice is to be implemented speedily and with the 'full force of the law', shouldn't that apply to everyone concerned? Dealing ruthlessly with one part of the population while making statements about 'communicating with community leaders' for other parts of the population sounds like unfairness and a derogation of duty to me.
