Nice history. I worked for Ohrbach’s (in Los Cerritos, Glendale, Topanga and Wilshire) from 1976-1987 and have a correction for the video narrative. At ~2:57: note that the Los Cerritos Mall and Del Amo Fashion Center stores were the tile covered units, not the Glendale store which was in the red brick Galleria. Cerritos was maroon tile and Del Amo was cobalt; both had stainless steel trim. Glendale was opened as a unique prototype store with movable interior wall panels. It was eventually remodeled to a more conventional arrangement. There was also a unique, compact two-level store opened in the Topanga Plaza mall near the May Company. This was the final California store location opened before the West Coast stores were closed and the East Coast stores became Howland-Steinbeck stores after 1987.

I remember going to Maas Brothers with my Mom from my teens to twenties. It was an occasional Saturday event. Every December 26th, we were there when the doors opened for the 50% off sale on Christmas decorations and cards. I have great memories of Maas Brothers. Our location had a restaurant or cafe, I think it was the Suncoast Grill. I could be wrong about the name. I wonder if the Grill was a part of other Maas locations or just the one in Gainesville?
