There r different types of lokas and last few lokas metioned in texts are territory on planet earth. The patal loka is actually south america(Particularly modern day peru). It is right under India on globe (like opposite side of world). Also since continental layer shifted (not whole plate but upper layer of crust), south america and Antarctica shifted slightly (earth's tilt on it's axis changed during younger dryas period). There is mention of aanatnaag being god of patal loka and king virochan of bali island ((indonesia) travelling and settling in patal lok. Today we know that there is a mountaim peak named 'ananta" on andes range in Peru and peruvian tribe 'incas' worshipped a god named 'viracocha' who allegedly came from outside and taught them technology (architecture to be precise). There is a geographical mark mentioned on kishkindha khand of Valmiki ramayaan.(Chapter 40, verse 53 and 54). Which talks about a palm tree shaped pylon on golden mountain. This geoglyph is called 'paracas candelabra' by european archeologists. Notice that 'paracas' means light or shine on Sanskrit. And the geoglyph is definitely not a candelabra,, it's called a palm shaped geoglyph in ramayan and it functioned as a compass for travellers. Also note that south american continent was considered east (as mentioned in same verse ,calling moden day peruvian geoglyph 'eastern compass'). The sanskrit word paracas is nagative for Peruvian tribes and it must have been named so because south america was land of rising sun for Ancient Indians , like japan today. Both paracas (name of geoglyph) and Ananta( name of mountain) are Sanskrit words being used by native population of south american country peru. Existence of anantnaag (the sacred snake supposedly residing in patal lok), the information being part of Ramayan (and historical text)all points towards patal lok being a land on earth,not a place inside earth. Iti-ha-sa and puran is two different words. Nowhere in Ramayan Shri Rama is mentioned as god ,the book talks about Brave Crown Prince who was righteous human being. Every civilization have ancestral worship and that's why we worship Shri rama. It is not mythology but out history. The ancients have clearly mentioned which on is itihasa (Iti-ha-sa ~ Translation:- This is how it happened) and stories created to teach people about laws of universe. For example,, lord vishnu and Brahma are personification of cosmos. Brahma have limited lifespan and there r infinite number of Brahmas,some big and some small.. Lord brahma personifies universe which have limited lifespan which is measured jn trillions of years even n in ancient books. Lord vishnu is multiverse as he is one who creates and destroys infinite number of brhmas. He is always shown in resting pose , sleeping in cosmic ocean. Lord shiva is enlightened consciousness always meditating ,beyond this material world.He personifies state of bliss and oneness with eternal soul. The third eye,the epitome of enlighnment. One who is beyond time ,the soul itself (Na adi, na annt hai uska').This is also why many temples show 'Kaal Bairava" (God of 'time and space' as Guardian of Shiva's temple. To reach enlightenment, u must go beyond time & space. The 'state of consciousness' the most enlightened ones reached. The likes of Siddharth Gautama , previous buddhas, Jesus, and unlimited amounts of braham vadinis (female monks). These are cosmic knowledge mixed with philosophies. Myth would be other books which got 'metaphors' which we take literally. For example, in same chapter of valmiki Ramayana ,after mentioning geoglyph of mount andes, sugreev mentions that there are monster like 'the mountain' hanging upside down on trees. Here 'like a mountain' doesn't mean large as a mountain, but the color of creature which matched the color of mountain (grey in this case; he was talking about vampire bats, hence the monster ,since those type of bats are native and only found in south america). The viracocha (god of inca tribe) was ancestor of king bali(not the one in ramayan bht the one which appears in story of Baman avatar where lord demands space to put 3 steps). This island was named after king bali.
