I’ve seen Hyer boots, but I own a couple pairs of ariats. What’s your opinion on them(ariats)?

Spot on with the layers. Pretty much exactly what I do. Only tip I would give is a mesh base layer. Brynje is an example of that. Works great for guys that are sweating out in very cold weather. You’d probably really notice a difference and can actually help keep additional layers off of you keeping movement easier.
