The Doors-Yes, the River Knows (isolated piano)
Переглядів 20621 годину тому
This is a remake of my original Yes the River Knows video. This updated version has much more accurate notes, 90% note-for-note. Yes the River Knows was recorded between January and May of 1968. It was another one written by Robby Kreiger, following Jim’s advice as he did with Light My Fire by writing about one of the elements which were universal. Jim was a fan of some lyrics Robby had wrote a...

This is a rerelease of my original The End video. This new version has a much more accurate piano/organ tone and notes. one of the most integral songs in Rock music. The Doors themselves knew that it was a big one. It had always provoked the most reactions when they played it at clubs. The song originally started off as a simple break up song, around 2-4 minutes. Overtime, it developed into som...
The Doors-Take it As it Comes (isolated Vox Continental organ, piano bass, and piano)
Переглядів 30714 днів тому
This is a rerelease of my original Take it as it Comes video. This new version has more accurate tones and includes a piano that I’m almost certain is present at the end. Take it As it Comes was probably recorded sometime between August and December of 1966. The song has a very Latin feel to it and because of the organ, it has almost a gothic sound to it. Ray’s back to his classic Vox and Rhode...

This is a rerelease of my original End of the Night video. This version has more accurate tones and notes. End of the Night was recorded sometime between August and December of 1966. It is a very psychedelic sound and lyrics. This is quite impressive as they stuck to only a limited set of instruments and were able to get a drastically different sound from them. Ray used his Vox organ with a tre...

This is a rerelease of my original I Looked at You video. This version has a more accurate organ tone and notes. I Looked At You was recorded sometime between August and December of 1966. It is the first Doors song to only include one keyboard, the Vox organ. Ray does not play the piano bass on this one as there is an actual bass guitar. Ray plays his Vox organ solo. The part is very easy, even...

This is a rerelease of my original Back Door Man video. It includes more accurate organ and piano tones/notes and the piano bass I didn’t even know was there. Back Door Man is the second Doors cover. It was recorded around August-December 1966. It’s the first Doors song not to use the Fender Rhodes bass as Robby Kreiger overdubbed a bass guitar. Ray’s line up is a Vox organ and a piano. Both pl...

I love these videos, especially reading how much work goes into them. I just wish these were getting more traction, they're very impressive and equally helpful.
Thank you very much 🙏
Great! What is the name of the vst you use to emulate the Gibson 101?
@@deardre It’s actually a mix of 2 apps. The 1st app is called IPhilichordia with the Tonex app attached to it. The 2nd app is called CompactDeLuxe also with the Tonex app attached to it. This is on IOS.
@@wateormelon4400 Hello, do you mean that this is in the AppStore? If so, I didn't understand the name of the application:(
@@edergaelmedinamartinez1311 Yes, these are all apps on the App Store. They are compatible with GarageBand so I assemble everything there. It isn’t just one singular app.
Beautiful
Thanks!!!
Cool, looking forward to learning this short LMF solo. Others have done it on YT but never so clear that you could see what's happening. Thanks! You nailed that just-slightly distorted Gibson organ sound from the show too, nice work.
@@chrisnicini834 Thank you very much!
oh great man. thank you. I will try this mixed with solo
THANKS!!!
Amazing, now songs live at the Hollywood bowl
On it
That would be very cool
dont forget their worste shows! on to Boston and Detroit😂😂😂
What app is that
@@brickalienproductions155 The organ is the app Red Animal with the Tonex app added on top. The bass is the Pianoteq app set at an electric piano also with the Tonex app added to give it that distortion. This is on IOS.
that bottom row of keyes is confusing... 2 black keys together??????
I don’t know what you mean. Do you mean the black keys playing harmony? If so then yes, Ray Manzarek often did that, he would stretch out his hand pretty far.
@@wateormelon4400 the top and bottom rows of keys look entirely different...I get the top row..looks just like the piano...but am having a hard time trying to figure out the bottom row...they should look just allike.
@ Oh you mean the colors? I did this to indicate which instrument’s which. The top is the Fender Rhodes piano bass which has the normal color scheme as any other piano but the Vox Continental organ at the bottom famously has inverted colors. So the colors are supposed to be different. Sorry for the confusion.
bro esta cosa es hermosa nmms te salio bien perrón 100/100 recomendadó apra los demás usuarios
Interesting note : it was guitarist Robbie Krieger who wrote the music (chord pattern) for this song ! (source : booklet of the Doors Box Set)
@@gerardusch Wow really? I don’t know why I always assumed it was Jim. I know of Robby’s other compositions like Light My Fire but I never realized that this was also him.

THANK YOU SO MUCH OMG
So heres a good question, how are you able to learn all of these songs without any access to the isolated tracks or any understanding of sheet music?? I would like to know this because i wanna know how you do it and how i could do it in the future

@@TheSlayerPr0 Yes, soon hopefully. I’m going to redo this video and then soon after I will do the Matrix version.
three chords and two organ solos, that's it :) i will try tonite..it's a pity that your software can not translate what you play in score sheet. it would be fantastic
Wow, fantastic work. Trying to be exact with that bassline is super frustrating but glad you got it down. As far as the vibrato and tremolo....I don't think he had it built into the Vox. I'm sure by now someone would have found evidence of that mod plus he used several Voxs' over the years. I think when you hear it it's with the Vox vibrato like you said plus almost every amp he used had a tremolo function. He didn't use the Acoustic 260 'til after the release of Strange Days. I think on the first album he did use a Fender Twin Reverb. On Strange Days there's photos of the recording studio with the Jordan Amps that they used in concert from about March of '67 to late October '67 and they also had a tremolo function. Plus even later when he used the Acoustics they also have tremolo which can be activated by a foot switch so he wouldn't have to free a hand to do it. Anyway.....just my thoughts. I could be totally wrong.
@@chrisnicini834 Wow, I did not know this, thank you for this information. I assumed Ray had some kind of extra engineering done to it as I didn’t think the Vox alone could achieve this sound. I didn’t occur to me how Fender amps have tremolo options.
@@wateormelon4400 I have the type of Jordan Amp Ray used in '67 and I have the Acoustic 260 he used for the rest of their career (with Jim) so I was sure about them. Did a quick search to confirm the Twin Reverb also had it. But before I had the amps it was a mystery to me too - I used to think that effect came from the Vox vibrato and Ray rocking the volume pedal super fast to get that heavy effect. It's also worth noting that if you take the top off of a Vox you can adjust the frequency / speed of the vibration by tweaking a little dial. At least you can on a British and American Vox, not sure about the Italian models.
I think you’re wrong with regards to the keyboard bass. I Looked At You was one of the first songs recorded for the album. The bass guitar overdubs came later. The bass player did not play with the band in the studio for this album. Ray must have played keyboard bass as he did on all the other tracks. Perhaps it was mixed out similar to how it was done on Soul Kitchen. For that song, you only hear the keyboard bass on the intro but it drops out once the bass guitar kicks in. However, we know Ray played keyboard bass on the entire track because you can hear it on the 40th anniversary remix. Anyway, I think we would all love to hear I Looked at You without the overdub, as it was played in the studio. I always believed you could hear a trace of the keyboard bass on the recording. It just sounds muddy and difficult to discern from the overdub. You need to get someone skilled with DES to extract the part.
@@maxincountrywerks I was struggling with this video as I was not able to settle on wether there was indeed a keyboard bass. I think your points have persuaded me though. The only problem is that I can’t hear anything at all so you’re right, I need a really good isolation. If I get it somewhere down the road, I will redo this one.
one of the best organ tunes, you nailed it!

What app do you use for the Vox sound? Is there like specific drawbars and stuff?
That's precious work for pianists like me.
what’s the app called
@@vermilliondosentexistanymorx For the actual sound I used the Hammond organ on Logic Pro with the Spin app added to it (it is a Leslie cabinet simulator). For the animation I used the VB3-11 app.
Very good. Helps me to train the solo 😀🎹🎹
Incredible how Manzarek could split his brain in two separate entities.
THANK YOU
Absolutely love your content. Can you do some Pink Floyd or Booker T and the MGs stuff?
Very nice work! Excellent! What piano did you use in Pianoteq? And also, what specific module do you refer to? Thanks 🙏🏻
I used the default piano that shows up when you first open Pianoteq. Module is the name of the other app I used too, it’s a piano app. You can slow down this video in IMovie to hear how I originally recorded it and the original tone.

Hey, just a suggestion could you put the music notes on the keys it would make it easier to play along to just saying
@@Sunny-y7d I unfortunately cannot do that. The app I use for the animatics doesn’t have much flexibility
Try doing John's wiped piano on Take 37.
I believe I did cover part of it. That piano track John did on take 37 still remains slightly during the bridge. I just combined his brief part with Paul’s overdubs. But I will definitely cover the entire take 37 piano.
@@wateormelon4400 The bridge part, if I remember correctly, is overdubbed.
@@antoniojoserunez4165Partly yes. Paul’s overdub is the descending line in the middle and end of the bridge. This is apparent because these descending lines are noticeably louder than what was played a couple seconds prior. I meant the continuous A note was John’s doing. You can hear it on Take 37. I combined both parts into one to avoid confusion.
@@wateormelon4400 Yeah exactly. Also did Paul overdub them?
@@antoniojoserunez4165 Yes I believe so as John would’ve been recovering from a car crash he had recently had by the time the other three were wrapping up Something.
Love thiss, how you make this'??
I used the Mellotron XL app for all the mellotrons and Numa Player for the piano at the end. After all the parts are recorded, I assemble it with the isolated bass and drums of the original song in IMovie. This is all on IOS.
Watermelon is john.
@@STARR503 You got me
And the bass
Have you done the clarinets for this song?
@@Creates80 I have not
what did you use for this??
Okay so this one took a lot. The main mellotron sound is the mellotron built in to the Logic Pro app with a bunch of effects. It is a blend between strings and flutes. For the slide part it is the app Streetlytron ‘63. That is just a guitar mixed with a flute. All of this is on IOS. The app you’re looking at is not the same app I used for the actual sound it is just for visuals.
