Thank you for contacting Anden. The Model A320V1(3) has a negative pressure cabinet, meaning the fan is on the outlet side of the cabinet. So, we are pulling air through the cabinet and air is also pulled up through the drain hole. The drain needs to be trapped with the provided trap to prevent air from coming up through the drain hole and to allow water to flow out of the drain. Without the trap, water can fill up the internal drain pan under the coil, spill over onto the base of the cabinet, and run to the lowest corner and drip out. Thank you for contacting Anden. The Anden Model AS35FP and Aprilaire Model 865 steam humidifiers are basically the same unit except for the control. The Aprilaire steam humidifier comes with a control that can only go to 45% RH. The Anden unit uses a more expensive control that has a 90% RH max set point for grow rooms.
