My great grandparents were from Poland and I spent the holidays with them until they passed away when I was 7 years old in 1990. They had thick Eastern European accents. Sweet people. I miss them both.
great---who does the singing---thanks
Franklyn Baur does the vocal.
R.i.P. RAMON NOVARRO. A TYRONNE POWER LOOK LIKE . (R.I.P. ). I REMEMBER IN 1968 GORGEOUS ACTOR DIED . NEVER SEEN HIS MOVIES ! HOWEVER, WATCHED DOCUMENTARIES AFTER THAT REMINDED ME OF TYRONNE POWER. I THINK THEY BOTH MADE " BLOOD & SAND " ( Ramon Novarro). 1930's LATER 1950's. (Tyronne Power). THANKS FOR THE UP-LOAD. FROM, THE UNITED KINGDOM.(2024).
Rudolph Valentino made a silent version of Blood and Sand 1923 and Tyrone Power made a sound version in color in 1940. I made UA-cam video of the Valentino version.
Wish someone would post the church scene where he runs away with her.
Thank you for posting this.
Excellent song by Charles William Harrison
When Guy Lombardo went to Chicago in 1927,he recorded this song for Columbia Records, and it was his first big hit
How about that! I didn't know.

Thank you Michael Wilson🙏🏾
Thank you.

I first heard this sung by Jim Reeves with the great guitar accompaniment of Chet Atkins. Thanks for this compilation. From Chennai . India.
Actually Joan was born in 1906. The 1910 census lists Lucille La Suer as being 4 years old. Anita Page was so beautiful! And a fine actress too!
Has a little anchors away in there towards the beginning. Delightful though.
i loveeeee
I have the original "test pressing" of this, cut in September 1923. On the reverse is the test pressing of "just a girl that men forget." To my knowledge there are no other test shellacs in existence.
you are fortunate to have the test pressing
As a kid in the 1970’s I first heard the tune in, “Race For Your Life Charlie Brown.” 1977. I always wondered about it. And loved it as a child.
Great post
😚😚😚😚
He was no Rudolf Valentino. His chemistry with women was off.
How he ended has always saddened me
me, too
The clown on the movie poster at 3:13 is actually from another Chaney movie, He Who Gets Slapped
According to other stills with Loretta Young, this poster, though probably done decades later, was from Laugh, Clown, Laugh
Part of the film is missing so we don't get to see the whole movie.
The first rendition of this song in Singing Fool is my favourite.
Most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard PERIOD!
"He who gets Slapped" was a masterpiece!
I bought that movie from eBay couple years ago on a DVD. Nina Mae McKinney was still in her teens when she starred in that movie. She should have been a bigger Star then she was.
Excellent video, extremely informative. Thanks so much for putting in so much time and effort!
you're welcome
Great quality recording. The stills are fantastic.
Recorded on September 29, 1927, accompanied by Nat Shilkret and the Victor Orchestra.
Such a good movie, it deserves to be better known. All three leads are terrific here, Brooks, Arlen and Beery. Wellman always said this was the best of his silent movies, even better than "Wings," and he used Arlen for two more movies after this in the first of his talkies. This is a beautiful tribute to a really good movie.
thanks
Does this melody come from another song? I’m sure I have heard it before but in a different arrangement.
I do not know of any other song, but there are many different recordings of it, many different arrangements.
This melody was used for the 1937 seventh heaven theme by Abe Lyman and his orchestra
🌹🌹🌹🌹🥺🙂😊❤❤
Thank YOU!
You're welcome!
Artwork for the stamp shown at 2:29 comes from a trade ad drawn by Al Hirschfeld.
didn't know that. thanks
Wonderful soundtrack 💞

Behind the scene talents such as Willis O’Brien, James Wong, and Ray Harryhausen just don’t exist anymore. Although thanks to people like Forrest Ackerman, writers such as H.P. Lovecraft, Poe, Doc Smith, Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, today we have one behind the screen “offspring” (hear the poetic wording) Guillermo Del Toro. I have seen The Man Who Laughs, a brilliant film. Looking forward to seeing Laugh Clown, Laugh.

Someplace in the Clutter I have a video tape of,about, a 1980, if not earlier, broadcast of this movie on PBS, back when they actually used to show decent stuff and not movies that you can see on any cable channel. I believe it was from the Killiam collection. If you haven't seen the movie, it's very powerful. If I could ever get PBS to show decent movies again, it would be a miracle. With the catalog that they have, you'd think they could show things like Upstairs Downstairs and the original Poldark series. Plenty of kids grown up today have never seen those shows from the 1970s and 80s. No wonder they love old records, stuff we were chasing after in the 1960s, and slightly older guys, who are dying off now, in the 1940s and 50s. This is life, drink fully.... 😔
I saw What Price Glory decades ago, I can't remember where. I'd like to see it again.
I love this film and this song. This song is such a perfect musical embodiment of the film, especially the ending.
I do hope this lost film can be found.Gilda Grey was my grandfather's godmother. She would be great to see in this film. Thanks for posting!
I am glad you liked my video. I watched a UA-cam video a few weeks ago of Gilda Grey singing a song on TV in the 50s with a guy playing a baby grand piano. She was in an evening gown. She looked and sounded great!
@@mikeywilson2768 I know the UA-cam video you are talking about. It was taken from a 1952 episode of the Liberace show. Gilda and Liberace were performing St Louis Blues. There is one more good clip of Gilda performing in Rose Marie (1936).
The song we all love The one that we paid for
