Fodie Hill Farm
United States
Приєднався 12 січ 2023
Fodie Hill Farms is a small farm on 4 acres in S. GA. We have a lot of animals and grow all kinds of food.
My goal is to slow down a little and enjoy things more. I’m learning more skills for cooking and preserving things in the kitchen, and trying to lean as many things about homesteading as I can. I hope you enjoy these adventures that you go on with me!

This did not go as planned
Hey yall it’s Mel with Fodie Hill Farms. I tried once again to grow some garlic. I think it’s something that I’m doing wrong. Maybe I’m planting to soon or harvesting to late. This is still a learning process for me as I’m new to gardening and this is my third year. I’m going to try to cure these and see what we have. If these are not edible, we will just save the cloves for next year to plant. Although this did not go as planned and I did not get massive cloves of garlic, I did have fun growing these. And the only way to learn is to just do it. #farmstead #homestead #garden #gardening #2024garden #homemade #homegrown #garlicfail #garlic

Let move the greenhouse!
Переглядів 7621 день тому
Hey yall it Mel from Fodie Hill Farms. We are going to put a new roof on the greenhouse and move it onto the slab. I was using it for storage since animals was digging underneath getting in and eating the plants. Also the roof was too distorted to get any sunlight through for the seedlings. So thankful that Cheeze works so hard to help Me with everything around the farm! #farmstead #homestead #...

Переглядів 9321 день тому
Hey y’all, it’s Mel from Fodie Hill Farms. Wanted to do a quick video of the carrots that I grew this year. Carrots are one of my favorite things to grow in the garden and I love eating them fresh. This is the first year that I’m trying to succession sow them and we will see if we will be able to grow them all year long. Fingers crossed because carrots are one of my favorite things to eat. Ever...
Turmeric shots
Переглядів 4528 днів тому
Let’s make turmeric shots. I take one daily. It helps with inflammation and boost my immune system. I use 3 to 4 pieces of cleaned turmeric, one large lemon chopped inside only, a cup of orange juice I like mine to have pulp, 1/8 of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper and 1/8 of a teaspoon of black pepper. Since my turmeric is not peeled, I strain it and put it into glass jars and store in the ref...

Hey y’all, it’s Mel from Fodie Hill Farms. We are doing something I’ve not been able to do since I’ve started gardening. We are harvesting onions!! I’ve tried to grow onions every year with no success. This year I successfully grew some onions and I am so overjoyed with them, I cannot express how proud and happy I am about these onions. I hope that next year with our new water system and lots o...

Yummy😊
I like the sound of your voice
9:18 those are Seminole squash
Nice carrot 🥕 harvest . Congrats 👏🏿👏🏿
Respectfully ask to revisit your numbers. Actual meat would be closer to 528 pounds after aging, trim and deboning (40% live weight). Since you got half, that would be 264 pounds of usable product, or $6.22 per pound. Still a great deal though
Awesome harvest! I never had any luck with the starts at regular box stores . So I bought the seeds, and I accomplished growing decent onions. Still could've been better , but wrong bed . So yeah .
Thank you for sharing, so inspiring!
What a fabulous garden new subscriber in the uk 🇬🇧

Great deal ! Very impressive! I wish I could do that to
Oh yay, Im about to start a garden in a new climate. Just found your channel, happy to grow with you ❤. I just got my kajari melon seeds on Friday, been wanting to try that one for over a year. I have peppers in my apartment garden 😂. I love following channels just starting out. Subscribed ❤

Does he ship meat?
Great video! Where did you buy your half cow?
A local processor that does my deer. He gets with a rancher that raises cattle and they do cows on the off season.
I like that little anvil you’re using
🥩❤
We are about to do this with our bull. You got a ton of beef. Nice video.
Love the Growers Outlet, a gardeners dream. I usually go a few times a month. 😀
Do you have a link for the freezer temp monitors? Thank you in advance. Shelby

I want to do this but I can't afford it. It's $10 a pound where I live. That's directly from the farm. Just can't put out that kind of money all at once.
I teamed up with a member of my family and we split the cost of half a cow. (It normally last my family almost a year along with the other meats we have) I just kept putting up the money I would normally spend through the year on beef items. By the next year I had a hunk to spend. It’s a lot to put out at once’s but very well worth it! I hope you can find a way to do it soon!
@@Fodiehillfarm I live alone. I thought about trying to buy a quarter beef but I don't want all hamburger. I like steaks. I always cut up the roasts into steaks. I like liver. How much would a quarter pound last one person? I mean a quarter beef? How much would a half a beef last one person?
@@nogames8982 it depends on how much of other meat you eat. We are a family of 4 and we eat chicken, pork, and deer along with the beef. It’s last us almost a year. So I would assume a quarter beef would last you as long too!
Mexicans often braise cow tongue for tacos.
