A better cutting weedeater for cutting Johnson grass and weeds.

My sister had started trying to get the weeds, Johnson grass and tall grass cut around the ditch to the east of her house but her weedeater was not cutting the Johnson grass and weeds very well so I thought about trying to modify one of my old weedeaters and see if I could get it to work better, this is what I came up with as a proof of concept, seemed to work a lot better. Cool rig! I love my little tool belt. I'd keep those picks, ditch two of those multi-tools, two of those adjustables, keep one flashlight and the blacklight. Your hips will thank-you, lol😂 Use the spanner for size measurement and your legs for proper socket selection and spare battery retrieval from your toolbox. Thoughts only....
@@vpweber it only weighs a bit under 5 lbs and if I can't carry that on my hip I shouldn't be working. I do use all of that stuff at times, especially when I'm either way out in the parking lot or up front at the offices.
@bigredbeard65 PS just watched your video on your new rig. Nice work, btw!
Very cool!

@@BonnieDoonHomestead you're welcome, glad you like it.
That is a great pack. What kind of work do you do with it? Being of German heritage I love things that organize and hold things we need daily so this was a fun find tonight to watch. In the Spring here I do coppice and pollard work with my willows and trees I have here. So you got me thinking about ways to utilize the two or three tools I always have with me. The foam, ice cream container and old pant material really appear to work very well even abused daily it appears. I guess you could say I have a lot of hobbies that I am always trying to find containers that hold everything so if I want to do wood prints, I grab a tub and all my materials and such are there ready to create. But I think I spend more of my life trying to organize these items then I ever do creating new work. It gets maddening. So I appreciate your solution for your needs. Very creative and practical. The latest pack you made looks as if you have really started to craft a great product. I bet you could produce similar packs for others if that is what you wanted to get into one day. I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me with your video.
@@BonnieDoonHomestead I'm very glad you like this project and that it has inspired you, this pack or pouch can be modified to a lot of different needs. You could even use more of the strap and buckles to carry it over your shoulder or on your back, whatever works for you. I am a truck mechanic (technician) by trade and I often found myself having to get out from under or wherever I was working to go back to my toolbox to get a different tool so I came up with this tool pouch I can wear on my belt, works great. I actually have German and Dutch in my family line. If you make something like or similar to this I'd like to see a photo of it.
How long will it run off those batteries before it starts to noticeably starts to slow down?
A good amount of time, it depends on which batteries you use and how hard you are using it, those 6.0 ah batteries I'm using have lasted me about 2.5 to 4 hours depending on if I'm only cutting or cutting and moving the pieces. My father in law used his about 2 days or more, of course that was cutting for a bit and taking a break.
@ Thanks! Saw this on sale and liked that it filled the gap between the dewalt 20v and 60v saws for a fraction of the cost but, there is close to no other information out there about it
You are welcome, glad I could help give you information, we bought one for my wife's father, he was 74 at the time and we bought one for my eldest brother who was 68 at the time. They both say that it cuts very well and the worst thing about it is it outlasts them, they have to take breaks, it doesn't! My wife and my 62 year old sister have both used it and they say it's easy to use.
thank you i could not find a review on this

Hi. I am bigredbeard65's sister that he mentioned in this video. I did order the V-Modest Pole Saw & clippers & I cannot recommend them highly enough! I am a 62 year old female with osteoarthritis & these are both so very easy to use and do an amazing job! I got the pole saw first & was using it to cut up a few limbs into smaller pieces for disposal & loved it! I was having to use hand operated clippers for the smaller stuff & it was back breaking! Then I got the clippers and started using them - Oh my goodness! Soooo much easier! Grab a limb, hold it over the pile & just start clipping. I don't have to stop nearly as often or bend over nearly as often so my back is not been tortured & I'm getting so much more done in a much shorter amount of time! V-modest makes wonderful products. I am very, very pleased & grateful that my brother ordered his & let me try them! Again - cannot recommend them highly enough! I have not ordered the Reliaroads chain saw because I'm just not sure if I will truly need it in town but I did like it when he let me try. The hardest part to me was pushing safety switch to get it to run but, like I told my brother, I believe it would get easier the more I used it as I built up more strength in my thumb but, overall, I thought it was a great chain saw &, if I do see that I need it at some point, I will definitely order that one. Very easy to use & does a great job!
What's the matter bro? Can't turn the laptop? Watch it on a tablet or that new phone! Seriously though I will try to not turn the camera when making these, it is kind of a pain.
Cheez! I just don't feel like turning the computer on its side to watch this.
The dremel ones are designed to be general use cases, says so right in the manual. Some of the smaller ones even come with reposition-able dividers.
Yes they are but even most of those can be adapted to better serve the users specific needs if the user knows what their needs are and are willing to take the time to modify it to their own needs. Of course if it is serving you well there is no need to modify it.
I love the ducks
They're fun to watch and they can get noisey at times.
So now I'm even more eager for a trip back home. I'll even bring my Clevelandopoly game.
I love the extended version of the Sorry game. We have so much fun playing it. I'm very impressed with how creative Bigredbeard65 is.
Thank you!
I can attest to the fact that we have spent untold HOURS playing the Sorry game that he made - I'm one of his siblings. We have had SOOOOOO MUCH FUN playing it & it has some wonderful memories attached to it from when we were able to play it with our Mom. She loved that game so much. I think part of it was she really enjoyed the game but also part of it was she enjoyed so many of us being able to play it together as family was so important to her & our Dad & is to us as well. Bigredbeard is so imaginative & creative! You go Bro!!!
Thank you I'm glad you like both the game and my video.
Novel Idea 💡
Hate blow molded cases because the organization is poor and they take up too much space. Repurposing them by removing the plastic organization part and replacing it with foam that can be customized is useful. The key part of this is the foam because it replaces the structure that you removed. Well done.
I agree with you about the cases and that they are not well made and take up too much space. Glad you like the video.

how do you let more line out? just like a bump trimmer or is there stihl autocut head or do you have some other method? also you're going to have an ugh moment when i mention trimmy attachment.
There's no letting more line out, these use a set length of large line that you can either get precut packs or rolls that you cut to length and replace them when they get worn.
So cute!
Yes they are, I enjoy getting to watch our neighbors goats, especially when they are playing.
Using a tree to knock down a house? What a great idea!

Great intensions but may I suggest you use standard electrical/relay terminology that most people understand and call relays as DPDT, SPDT, etc etc and even any switches as SPST, SPDT, DPDT, etc etc. Relay pin numbers like you noted are almost meaningless to most people.
I would agree with you that in some circles that the nomenclature you use would be more accurate but I am a truck mechanic and I am mostly making these tutorials aimed at my fellow truck mechanics that need help understanding them and the numbers I am using are actually on the relays and in the circuit diagrams most mechanics use and certainly most of the young mechanics the spdt or dpdt and such they would not understand. I do appreciate your suggestion though.
@@bigredbeard65 I see, did not realize your videos were geared towards a specific audience and of course no disrespect was intended. Maybe in the future use both and briefly explain what they mean. Another very common nomenclature you can use that I suspect everyone will understand is the use of N.O. or N.C. for normally open or normally closed for switch or relay contacts. I think that would go a long way to satisfy just about everyone.
@@w8bya I understand that you are trying to give me helpful suggestions and I do appreciate them, if you watch all of my tutorials I have used normally open and normally closed in some of my tutorials and while I say they are mostly aimed at my fellow technicians or mechanics they are intended mostly to try to help people that don't know much about this sort of stuff start to be able to understand it better. From the picture you have I'm guessing that you are more into the true electronics, do you have a channel which you help people understand electronics? If so I would like to have a link so I can see some of your stuff.
@@bigredbeard65 I have not watched your other videos, this one caught my interest and I wanted to watch it. If you have used N.O. & N.C. nomenclature in other videos this video would have been a perfect place to use them again. I do have a channel where I share different experiences with others some of them are pretty basic but I would not call them entry level. My channel is just "w8bya" and covers all kinds of my weird interests & topics. If I find a good entry level electronics channel I will drop you a link.
@w8bya ok, thanks, it might be good if some of my viewers that express a desire to learn more had another place to go to learn more of the electronics.

I was there and I can honestly say it was well worth the visit. Beautiful, fascinating place. If you've not been I highly recommend you go.
Still thinking of doing this to my Scag Tiger Cub. To old to handle a weed eater for an hour.
I think if I were to do this as a permanent attachment now I'd probably make it a pivotal electric so I could move it out of the way and use it independently of the blades. It is a handy attachment. If you do make it sens me a pic or a video of it. I'd like to see it.
I am in the middle of making one now, will update when I get it done, ua-cam.com/video/Qib2jEH-Om4/v-deo.html : @@bigredbeard65
There is a trimmer on the market with electric motor that pivots. I has bad reviews on motor dependability @@bigredbeard65
@@chuckgilbert2035 I'd steer clear of it then, the motor is the main component for something like that, there are a lot of companies selling junk out there, check those reviews and look for updates on reviews to see if they made it right or not.
I have a TRIMMER, it isn't as tough to handle.🤡
Goodness, he hasn't changed. 😂 He is still 🤪
Very true, still silly.
How do you you replace the bad cell by itself and make sure the new one is the correct type for the battery pack.
Great questions, I will try to put together another tutorial to answer them, not sure when I'll be able to get it done and online but keep an eye out for it, hopefully soon.
It was an amazing experience
Yes it was, every time we go there.
And they drop off free fertilizer.
Yes they do, that field gets well fertilized!

Looks more like big white beard now, lil bro. What's up with the black goat that's hobbling around? Got a thorn in its hoof or what?
Yeah, my beard is more white than red now. The poor little goat has a bum leg that they've been treating, he got a little too close to some pear scraps that one of the other goats wanted and got head butted in the side. Poor little thing couldn't get back up by himself, once I got him back up he did ok.
How did you make this bad ass thing? Huh huh please tell me !!
I had an old weed whacker that was falling apart and decided to mount the spindle to my zero turn mower, after checking my junk pile for material I drilled holes in the deck, welded nuts to the underside of the deck, bolted a piece of metal to the spindle and then bolted that to my deck. I removed the nut from the top of the belt pulley, added another pulley I had and reinstalled the nut, an impact helps greatly for doing that. I bought the appropriate belt and put it on. After trying it, I then added an idler to help tension the belt. Sorry I really don't have a design or instructions on doing this. Most important thing is to do a lot of measuring.
@@bigredbeard65 Does it only spin when the mower blades are engaged or can you use it and the mower blades not be spinning ?
Mine only spins when the blades are engaged, if you wanted a truly separate control you'd have to mount a clutch and pulley system to the engine and then run belt(s) up to an idler pulley and then to the spindle, or you could get an electric motor and mount it to you spindle with a power cord running out to it with a switch mounted somewhere that was convenient for you.
The one I am building only works with the mower deck PTO engaged. It extends the cutting surface from 48" to about 64" it is at the same height as the mower blades. And overlaps the cut so no uncut grass strips@@dnrhodes6221
That's awesome. I can't believe there have only been two comments. That's the cats ass! Thanks for sharing. Top shelf stuff.

Looks good to me
Thanks, it's still running good, I have changed the chain and bar, but the saw is still running good, I've cut a lot of wood with it. I can recommend the Black Max chainsaw now.
Do you have a step by step
Sorry, I just took apart and old weed whacker, made a few measurements, looked around my junk and found some stuff that I could use, bought a belt and an idler pulley and put it all together, I would suggest that you do weld the nuts on the mower deck so you can easily remove it when you need to.
Those are good starter saws for people in residential neighborhoods. I've had mine since 2019 still starts 1 or 2 pull. Just take care of them and they will do you good!
Thanks for the information, glad to know the one you have is working good for you, I have since been able to get my other chainsaw running again, always good to have a backup.
