Škodu 1000 MBX som u nás videl len raz - možno pred 30 rokmi na parkovisku pred nemocnicou. Vtedy som si myslel, že si niekto klasickú embéčku prerobil na kupé. 😀
Jedu takhle tábořit Škodou 100 na Oravu, spěchám proto, riskuji, project přes Moravu. Řádí tam to strašidlo, vystupuje z bažin, žere hlavně Pražáky a jmenuje se Jožin.
I like the version with pilar less doors. Did they stiffen the body and add a lot of weight to make it or did they simply cut the doors? Communism didn’t look too bad I have to say!
Can’t argue with that; I owned a 1983 Super Skoda Estelle with technology very similar to what was in these cars. The oil filter was a paper / cardboard one that fitted inside a cup like container attached to the side of the engine. Yeah, that old…!!! But you know what? I loved that car and was very impressed with it. It was very reliable, built like a tank kept up comfortably with the traffic and could handle the winter weather exceptionally well. I went on to acquire 3 more rear engined Skodas - a 1984 Super Estelle, a 1987 and a 1988 Skoda Rapid 130G each. Yes, it was no frills cheap motoring, but none of them ever let me down, and I still miss them, especially the Rapid Coupes. They were all arguably better than British cars of the same era, and astoundingly didn’t rust to death on a whim, unlike every British vehicle of the time. All my mates with British cars laughed at my Skodas at first - till they realised I never broke down, needed to be towed or worried about my Skoda being stolen. I regret that Skoda stopped innovating and instead went down the VW cloned technology route - the world lost some very unique engineering. Seriously, who knows what could have been?
