Great vibe, mate. Over here in the states trying to solidify my DND basic knowlege to try and become a DM. Very appreciateive that this is free! Promise to look in the store.
Thanks for the comment, and good luck on your journey as an up and coming DM! This video may help with that: ua-cam.com/video/HezZq_G0v40/v-deo.htmlsi=Vq-F_q_gpUqbKQZp As for my creations, I'm really excited about my most ambitious project yet: www.kickstarter.com/projects/dandmadeeasy/characters-monsters-and-initiative-made-easy?ref=6a1x9j My deal is mostly that I want to inspire others to create more - I feel I'm a better person when I create, so I aim to encourage others to do the same 🙂
I am starting a after school club for teens at our local library. The school turned down the club so this will be funding completely by me and fund raisers by my young adults
I expect in many cases school clubs are self-funded, which is why it's important that help is out there, and why I'm passionate about sharing it. You can find links to lots of free resources from myself and other creators here: www.dandmadeeasy.com/free-resources-school-dnd-clubs Thanks for supporting your young adults in this way!
Otherwise I'm lost
I believe my son has a manual and I need to take it from him and learn from it
These days there are lots of resources available to help you and your son learn to play. You may find my video on dice rolls particularly helpful. Happy holidays!
I appreciate your effort and I'm trying to keep up. I did manage to find me screenshot the web address.
Here's a link to a playlist of tutorial style videos including the one you watched: ua-cam.com/play/PL8JTIT7_y9Dm-zCdIMZFYEeob0tbEDwbw.html&si=Thl88MCzD0bYh3_B There's a lot to digest, especially if you don't have a gaming background, but it's worth it because TTRPGs are not only super fun, but there are many additional benefits of playing them 🙂
This is the most understandable explanation out there
Thank you very much for the comment!
Hey! I’m a Special Education teacher at FCPS, and some of my kids have made friends playing D&D. i know the basics, but I have never been a DM before. I read the your videos! I guess I’m just reaching out for how to best support my kiddos. TIA for any time you have!
Thanks for wanting to help the kids in this way! The best place I can point you is this page: www.dandmadeeasy.com/free-resources-school-dnd-clubs. On it, I've collated lots of free resources that can help from me and other creators. This includes links to organizations that can sponsor clubs by providing resources, my resources, and everything else! (maps, minis, anything you can imagine!) While I don't have any getting started resources specific to school D&D clubs, here's a link to a blog about the experiences of a lady who set up and runs a library D&D club: www.dandmadeeasy.com/post/how-to-set-up-and-run-a-library-dnd-club-interview-with-rachel-archeron
I'm really learning a lot about DND rules right now and I really like and appreciate the production value you put into this vid!
Thank you! It took me a few weeks to put this video together alongside my full time job. I experimented and learned a lot, and had a good time with it.
Hey Daniel, this is one of, if not the best tutorial video i have seen since 2010 😂 great value, not only for the DandD made easy products but for all printing purposes
Thanks so much Dalim! Surprisingly, it actually does pretty well on UA-cam - I'm guessing because of the title. It's easy to think that everything needs to be super flashy for UA-cam, but maybe that isn't the case! That said, I'm thinking of remaking this one and putting it on my new channel instead, where it will fit better. I used to write technical documentation like user manuals as a career, so I apply those skills to my process videos 😊
👍🤝
🤝👍 I never made a video for part 2, but the files for that are free on my Resources page too!
I was like "hmm maybe this build will be interesting!" The moment he says "we'll need 10 levels of...", I was out. Who has campaigns that go last 10 or more character levels nowadays? lol
It's a strong build from level 2. Level 1 isn't great offensively because you have low strength and are a Fighter. By level 2 you're an untouchable tank with magic missile and booming blade, and it only goes uphill from there 😊 I was playing the build similarly to this in Adventure League games starting at level 2, think, and I had a blast. It became a little ridiculous there because I got hold of Gauntlets of Ogre Power, which evened out the major weakness - low strength, and because they made it easy to get +1 AC items at a low level.
@dandmadeeasy that's awesome to hear! I should check out the rest of the video then once I get a break this weekend. Unrelated, I still play a lot of AD&D 2E so hearing that anything higher than a 9 being called "low strength" still throws me off lol
@@Knightfall8 Great! I played a lot of the infinity engine games (the original Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale etc) back in the day, which is based on the AD&D ruleset. I'd spend ages rerolling stats until I got high numbers - it was a funny combination of rolling and point buy that is perfect for masochistic gamers who're happy spending half an hour rolling - great times! I've never played it as a tabletop game, though!
That’s why the disengage mechanic is helpful too. The way my dm explained it to me was if I wanted to move away, I do the disengage and they can’t roll the op att. Is this true?
Yes, that's right. It's slightly better for the Rogue, because their Cunning Action feature allows them to disengage as a bonus action rather than a main action. Goblins also have a similar ability, Nimble.
@@dandmadeeasy thanks! You earned my sub for that 😂
@coletaylor832 great to have you in the party!
Hey, great video! Do you have the document you used in the video?
Thanks! It's in all of my corresponding print at home products. If you want a copy for another purpose, feel free to reach out via my website contact form and I can send you a copy.

🤝👍😊
you are so awesome thank you!!!
You're very welcome! May your adventures be many, and really fun!
Cool video Dan! I see this can also be very useful for wargaming proxies as well! (for the infantry sized units at least)
Thank you! Yeah, it would be - and there's no need for standees as there is with some other types of paper minis, so they're really easy to store!
These are really cool! There's some pdf sorcery going on there to make the colours and things repeat across multiple boxes - sooo clever! I'd love to see Hex tokens or three-pointed star ones as well. I've got lots of two sided standee ones, but they're forever falling over!
Thanks! PDFs are indeed magical - they're a very untapped resource! By 3 pointed star, do you mean pyramidal based cylinders? In the past, I've typically used crystals if I don't have specific minis to use, so I haven't encountered issues with my "minis" falling over. Perhaps that is another benefit of these card minis - on 250 gsm paper, they're really sturdy!

These are very cool! I played a mini campaign a while ago where I had two notebooks: one to note anything and everything down at the table, then afterwards I filled out a seperate book with notes for what character would actually have known, basically treating it like their diary. It added a whole extra level of immersion for me between sessions as I got to think about how they might interpret the information that they'd seen / heard. It made them even more fun to roleplay at the next session! Definitely more work than was nessessary, but if you have time, give it a try!
Thanks! It's funny. As a player, because there's so much downtime, whether it's during combat or social encounters, I like to take down notes and have something pretty to look at in front of me (while still paying attention to the game). As a GM in D&D, I'm quite the opposite, it's rare I ever take notes down and prefer having players take the notes during sessions. I don't recommend this, though, unless you have a really good memory. This depends on the GM-player dynamics. When I played Daggerheart, everything was more collaborative, and I literally went in to a session blind with no thoughts on story. Instead, we developed the narrative together. This meant more time listening to players fill in parts of the story, so I took down more notes as GM. Still minor - NPC names, important locations etc.
Do we need the fighter level? We get the proficiencies and fighting style from paladin, so all we get is a lacklustre bonus action heal. What about a level in hex blade warlock? That would give you charisma attacks, so you can drop strength and boost con/int. Plus a bit of temp hp with armour of Agathys
I saw another comment addressing this and have more to add. The loss of con proficiency is partially made up for by the +2 to con we can have, as well as the hp that gives. If you really want con proficiency, you can swap 1 ASI for resilient con, go sorcerer for the extra spell level and subclass features (maybe shadow for the death dodger effect)
I'd take resilient over +2 con with this build. +2 con would still be a difference of 5 to concentration checks at the highest tier. I put the build together as a gish, with low Int and no offensive spells (except magic missile), so I'd take Con over Int if you do this. Armor of Agathys is of limited use if you very rarely get hit, which is a main focus of the build. The Hexblade level would be great if you can fit it in, though.
@dandmadeeasy Thanks for actually responding! And your probably right if you want the character fully defensive.
@@Alpha-zb8sp I really love tanky spellcasters for some reason!
Im new to dnd. Im a tabaxi druid. Just learned i have feline agility and can dbl my movement. What straigies/advice can anyone give me? I believe i can use my feats in wild shape too?!! That be crazy having a cave bear with 60ft movement lol
Two things strike me as being helpful with Feline Agility - you can close the gap really quickly - twice as quickly as you would be able to otherwise. Note that it doubles your speed for the turn, not just for your movement action, so you can move twice as far as you'd be able to move normally as part of a Movement action with Dash for a total of 4 times your normal speed, or three times as far if you use Dash twice - this is possible with the 2014 Fighter's Action Surge, or the 2014 Rogue's Cunning Action. Also note that it doubles your speed, not your base racial speed, so if your speed is higher than normal due to a spell or class feature, it will double that bonus. And I'd probably interpret it as that it doubles all speeds, not just walk/run speed, so if you're in a wild shape form with a climb, fly, or swim speed, it doubles those too. That means it's rare you won't be able to make it anywhere you want in a combat in a single turn. Want to case Cure Wounds on someone, but they're 40 feet away? No problem! It's also helpful during chases, or if you're wanting to stop an opponent from getting away e.g. to sound an alarm, or flee from an encounter. If you're in a dice roll and skill based challenge, you may be able to convince your DM that your Feline Agility helps you and they may give you some kind of bonus. If you're still in combat or social initiative, you should be able to move further and still have an action available to try to grapple an opponent to stop them from moving. If you're already in a wild shape form that has a high strength modifier (or you can use a bonus action you can't move with to shift into one, e.g. if you're a 2014 Moon Druid), this is even better. You can use your double speed to approach an opponent and have a higher chance of grappling them until the rest of your party can make it in range to support you.
Great video I just dm my first session with some friends and you cleared up all of my questions perfectly
Thank you for sharing, that's great to hear!
Okay I see people roll in daily life for outcomes In funny videos right. How do I know my outcome if I wanted to do that lol explain me the outcome number meanings lol
If I understand you right, there are probably two ways. One, you roll really poorly - say you roll a 1 on an attack roll - some DMs may even have critical fail tables or cards they use for additional things that happen. Two, you try to do something cool and roll really well, let's say rolling a 20 on a skill check, when you also have a decent bonus to that skill. You can almost guarantee that you pull off what you wanted to, and your DM will let you roll with it, but depending on your DM, you may be better avoiding dictating mechanical outcomes, and stick to just describing what your character does. I hope this helps!
You take your time, you explain things carefully and are not reluctant to repeat previously mentioned information. This guide is awesome and I really appreciate you took the time to make it
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback - it means more than you can imagine! I wanted the video to be helpful whether you watch it end to end or just jump into a specific section to brush up on a specific type of roll, which may explain any repetition. This video took about 3 weeks to make and I learned a lot while making it - I'm glad I did as I feel it's helping a lot of new players! Happy adventuring, and I hope to catch you around!
@@dandmadeeasyme (a 15 year old) is trying to play a dnd campaign with my family and this realy helps thank you (well guess i'll be dm for a long time)
cortizone cream
If you're commenting on my skin issues, I have ongoing health issues that I'm working though. Thanks for your concern.
I would probably leave the charisma at 18 and increase con or get shield master instead.
Great ideas! The Con would give you a nice and welcome HP boost, but you might not get that much out of shield master over the extra permanent +1 to all saves. For the shove effect, you need to make an attack action, so you can't get it with booming blade, and if/when you have Fizban's up, you already have evasion. The + Shield AC to Dex will always be active, and Dex saves are important, but I'd rather have +1 to all saves than +2 to Dex - obviously if you have a Shield +3, there's more of a choice to make.
The Problem that I see is that this build is pretty resource heavy. When you have no spell slots left or the DM uses anti-magic fields, you are just a pretty mid tank.
If you hit an anti-magic field, sure, all bets are off - but the build isn't resource heavy. You get lots of spell slots, and you don't need to use them often as you're so hard to hit, even from level 1. Remember that you aren't using spell slots to attack (unless you want to use Smite) - just Booming Blade.
@@dandmadeeasy Yeah, but the problem is that the AC is pretty low, even with shield you only have an AC of 28. I currently play a build in a Kampange with a base AC of 30, and I get hit pretty often, because most Enemies have a to hit modifier between +13 and +18.
@sheed4875 How do you get a base AC of 30? Remember that this is all without magic items - at the level of play where enemies have a +13 to hit, I'd expect to have +3 or so to AC from magical armor/shield/ring of protection. And Blur is huge - I believe disadvantage equates to around a +5.5 AC on average.
This is so nicely explained. I want to get into DnD but it´s so much information my head hurts :D so I´m trying to ease my way in with Bg3 and this kind of videos. :D It´s too bad I can´t save it in my playlist so I can return to it later :(
Thanks so much for the feedback, it helps more than you can imagine! I think you should be able to save the video to a playlist and come back to it later. It should be easy because I set up Chapters for every type of roll, too, so you can just jump to the one you're interested in. I hope you do get into it, it's very rewarding!
@@dandmadeeasy Thank you so much <3 and thanky ou for your hard work, I appreciate it :)
How did that D4 dice work? It has 3 sides facing up and multiple numbers on it. How do you run the numbers on it or decide its value was 6?
The standard form of a d4 is a triangle based pyramid, with 3 numbers printed for each value (3 1s, 3 2s, 3 3s and 3 4s). These show on the 3 sides of the die that are pointing up when you roll it. I'm not sure which part of the video you're talking about exactly, but I believe I must have rolled multiple d4s, or added something to the result to get a 6 on a d4. For example, a standard healing potion heals for 2d4+2 hit points, so for that you would roll 2 d4 dice, add the values rolled (the numbers pointing upwards), and then add 2 to get the result. Hope this helps!
There are other forms of d4 dice that are easier to read, but they are less common
I like beans
Great to see that you're so full of beans. Happy adventuring!

@dandmadeeasy I also found this video helpful I come from more of a new age of DandD like Dark Alliance or Dark and Darker. However I recently started getting into the original and all the differences between.
@IllidanGMG I started with the old Baldur's Gate games, and I loved Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1 & 2, though I guess you mean the newer one. Dark and Darker looks great, but I've never played it myself - I tend to create more than play these days. Thanks for the feedback - it's always great to hear. I put a lot of effort into videos like this (especially this one), and it's great to know that it actually helps! Are there any major areas that you find unclear in the rules or have trouble with?
It's great
Thanks for the feedback!

Your videos are very good, I really like how carefully you explain them and even more so how creative and funny you can be! 👏🏼👏🏼 Keep it up success 💪🏼👏🏼
Thank you so much for sharing - I'm always happy to help!
If you have printable dice files im simpin 🤤 Thank you! First time playing with the family this weekend and i needed this! 🙌
I love the idea of making printable dice, maybe I should do that! I guess the benefit there is that I could color code them and have a little reference with which color dice is used for which types of roll. Thanks for the ideas and I hope you have an awesome game with your family!
This was very helpful. I finally have an idea of what I am doing for my next in person game. Thank you so much for your effort in this detailed video. Demystifying the dice is a huge step in knowing how to play.
Thanks so much for your comment, comments like these really make me smile! I glanced at your UA-cam channel because of the title, and it looks like you might be interested in the various paper-crafting resources I make, such as my rules reference cards: ua-cam.com/video/XpDcEta4lI4/v-deo.htmlsi=Aft8stT3vMgo-jcL Happy crafting!

Whats your opinion on vtm v5 combat where the type of action determinds its order?
Caveat - I haven't played the system, but I just did some reading to figure out how it works. I'm not sure how successful I was with this. I assume you mean the basic combat? It seems advanced combat has a range of rules that you can choose to use if you want - I think this is a great way to build/share game mechanics. So there are "turns", where every actor declares their intent at the start of the turn, and based on what each actor chooses to do, the storyteller facilitates resolving outcomes... somewhat simultaneously from what I can tell? i.e. already-engaged melee rolls go before ranged rolls, but all rolls of the same type happen at the same time? One huge benefit of this is that I expect it's very quick to resolve. As there's very little thought space in what to do in the turn (melee attack opponent X or ranged attack opponent Y, run for cover, split attacks) I expect it's very quick for players to determine their intent, too. For me, I'd consider it a downside that there seems to be so little space for making tactical decisions, and that in many combats, on many turns, I expect you'd end up just doing the same thing (OK, I'll melee attack the closest opponent then, because that's what my character is good at... maybe I'll choose to split my attacks this turn). In systems where martial characters have limited options and it's possible to have more options (e.g. play a spellcaster), I almost always go for having more options because I prefer that, but many people are happy with a limited set of options. Overall, the system seems: * Quite simple - both in terms of mechanical/resolution simplicity, which is a good thing, and options available, which is a bad thing for me, but may be good for others * Fair - in that everyone has the option of taking the same number of "turns" in a combat - some people may prefer to have more variance where some characters can go faster than others, and I get that, but I prefer to prioritize every player seeing the same amount of action across combats, and they always can in this system * Quick - to set up and resolve - always a good thing You get a little tension and intrigue from not knowing what opponents are doing, and because everything should run pretty quickly. So, overall, there are quite a lot of good elements there, but for me, I'd prefer if there were more options available for what to do on "your" turn. That isn't a criticism of the initiative system itself, though, but the combat in a wider sense, and the simplicity of options in combat actually supports the quick setting of intentions and resolution of outcomes, so it has a benefit too. My understanding is that VTM is much more focused on social encounters rather than combat, so having simple combat may be a good thing for many players, but maybe it isn't really my type of game because I love engaging combats. As a side note, it's really nice that the rules for conflicts are similar regardless of whether they're combat or social conflicts. This makes things easier for both players and the storyteller. Do you play with the system? What do you think about the combat system and why?
@dandmadeeasy thank you so much for taking the time to reply and research vtm! I'm unfortunately yet to play a proper campaign, but I thought it was an interesting contrast to the initiative systems in the video, being more concise. Older verisons did have a version of a power, celerity that gave extra actions in a turn, but it was quite overpowered and kind of trivialised a lot of combat.
Cool ideas. Thanks for the inspiration. Side note: I used to lucid dream many times a week throughout my childhood and even some into my early adulthood. It was incredible.
Happy to help! There's nothing like it, right? So much creative power! Sometimes I even had a meta thought while lucid dreaming - I really hope I don't wake up because I'm having so much fun in the dream.
This video uses AI art, which is never as good as human art (see description). I’d love to hear your ideas for dreams and visions! Check out my tools to help TTRPG players: www.dandmadeeasy.com/ Use code UA-cam10 for 10% off!
Great video! Campfire Dan could be your Deathbringer! One of my favourite times to bring in dream sequences and visions is actually in combat. When a character is downed and making death saves, the player suddenly has nothing to do on their turn except roll one dice. This could last for up to six rounds of combat, so they could easily begin to feel bored or disengaged. As they're knocked out and fighting for life, that's the perfect time for them to have a vision of their god / patron, a glimpse of the afterlife, or flashbacks to their past. If you can keep these to less than a minute per round, the flow of combat shouldn't be interrupted too much for other players.
Thanks! As I'm here in York, I need to put my Viking on! (I have a drinking horn too but didn't use it in the video) Using dreams/visions for death scenes is a really great idea, I love it! (Rich has lots of great ideas - check out his channel!) You reminded me that I like to use dreams/visions for level ups even where there isn't a specific entity involved. While my Battle/War (can't remember which) Domain Cleric player sees a vision of his God when he levels up, Saul saw a vision of a panther stalking its prey in the shadows when she took the Gloomstalker class. Archetypes are really powerful!
