We need some Scotty videos!!
Back in 69 we had a choice every Sat. night of going to Fairmont to see a movie or skate here. Looks like the same crappy building it was in the 60 70"s. The rock entrance was not there, it was ship lap like the rest of the building. If you went down the brick road to the left of the rink and followed it till the end we lived in the last house on the right. 701 Buffalo Road. I dig these clips, keep my foggy mind clear. Keep up the good work.
If you ever go to Grafton maybe some pictures of Pruntytown would be a trip down memory lane for some Marion county boys.
OK , I do have one where we went fishing in Grafton. Have a good one .
I hope to travel to WV, summer of 2025. I’m thinking Morgantown, but I see this beautiful Fairmont.
I was just in Fairmont over the weekend checking out WV and had coffee at that Dunkin . Jags Burgers was a great stop !
Scotty, looks like you had good weather for a change on your drive through Bellview. How did your Aunt like livng in the double wide? I'm just curious. Can you relate to me what side of the road, US 19, was the Liberty street or avenue? I remember there was a Hill's store near the end of the bridge. Colasessano's was before the bridge. US 19 was an S curve with a church on one end and a beer joint on the other. My buddy and I used to go shoot pin ball there at the beer joint. The beer joint used to have some good hamburgers there.
She like that place. Hi Jack!
When I went to Barnes school in the 1960's we lived under the bridge. If you were going to get the best pepperoni rolls in the world and was crossing the bridge, our property was on the right side.
I’ve been waiting for this day to come.
Hi Pepperoni
Trolley street used to be the right-of-way for the streetcar tracks. It used to come out down at Dakota but was closed off several years ago. It had at least one very narrow bridge, much like the abandoned concrete trolley bridge above the railroad down at Hawkinberry Hollow along US19 approaching Rivesville.
Thanks B and O
Me and Harry Fry would skip school and sit at the crossing @ Hawkinberry and smoke Salem waiting for the bus to pass, then run back to school and catch it to Rivesville. Good Times!
I was born in Fairmont in the early 50s. Went back with family for holiday visits and loved the huge backyard WAY down steep steps outside the kitchen door. I'd love to see that beautiful town again some day.
Sounds great!
Depressing as h e double hockey stick! That is what car culture has wrecked on America. Few pedestrians, but everyone fat on corporate greed and high fructose corn syrup! First they pave over paradise, then they knock down the histroric buildings and put up a parking lot.
Nice seeing you yesterday. I hope all is well. Scotty rocks! 🤘🏻
Thanks! You too!
You should do a walk through down town Fairmont and get some footage of the real life zombies. Start at the corner of Adams and Cleveland, work your way up to the courthouse. That would get ya plenty of views.
You are like the modern day Pink Floyd, Scotty!
LOL
I don't like it but will get better. 😭
You keep goin and you'll soon be be in bellview. I grew up there.
That's awesome
What’s even more fascinating, and kinda depressing, is looking at photos of Fairmont during the 1950s through until 1990, which is the year, as I can recall, when everything began to slowly collapse. Actually, that can be dated to at least 10 years earlier with the closings of Sharon Steel in 1979 and the Owens - Illinois glass bottle manufacturing plant in either 1981 or 1982… After that, the Bethlehem Steel #41, as well as the Consol mines at Rachel and Four States closed in 1984, as well as the under development Dent’s Run mine in Mannington - every one of those in 1984 through mid 1985. Federal #1 shut down in 1985, then came Blacksville #1 being shut down in 1991, followed by Arkwright, Osage, and Pursglove mines in Morgantown, all of them closing at once leaving Humphrey as the only mine standing in that area along the river… AND the Martinka mine in Colfax. Each of those shut down in 1994 Then came the Chessie System / Baltimore & Ohio railroad yard in Fairmont that shut down in 1990 after a bad derailment that occurred between Shinnston and Worthington leaving the brakeman dead, and the conductor trapped inside the same engine with him for several hours while soaked in diesel fuel… There’s just too many closings to list. Each one contributed greatly to Fairmont’s economic downfall. And when economies go bad, up goes the crime and illegal activities
I want to race you Scotty. Gabe’s parking lot @ 10pm lol
lol
Cool game
One of my mcpaychecks is rent for me utilities phone and internet is the other if i have 50 left i feel lucky, i dont make enough in one hour to afford to pay for a meal at Wendy's wtf man
Caught a giant Carp here w Ms Wards group from FSC. Let it swim around the college pool a minute before being released back into the river, lol.
Scotty: if you feel this strongly about this subject you need to run for political office, WV State Legislature would be your best venue.
Would it though? Even politicians started their career with good intentions I'm not saying Scott would do that but keep that in mind
I’d vote for Scotty!
I was paying 1500 a month for a two bedroom rental in an apartment complex in Pensacola. Same money got me a house with basement and garage in Fairmont.
We need more of these type of videos. Right on! You should make a video of the pro’s and con’s of fairmont for those looking to move.
It doesn’t help that states have footballed valuations higher and higher with an eye toward more property tax revenue. Then your county assessor can throw his hands up and say he’s not responsible for property taxes going up. And as you noted, realtors also benefit from these raised valuations.
You get em scotty
Cozy country town
Looks to be sawgrass
Hmmm . TY.
its a pine tree
HEHE thanks.
Boi wtf

Scotty > Yann’s. You are a WV folk hero. Keep up the videos!!
It' s him! lol Thanks.
Scotty, if you ever do get a chance to visit Yann's Hot Dog stand, find out when they opened their shop. Reason is I don't remember seeing them in the early 1990's when I lived there. I used to get my hot dogs from Lupo's Lunch on Jefferson Street. I remember Marshall Lupo used to own the shop with his brother Nicki in the 1950's but Nikki passed away either the late 1950's or early 1960's; I don't recall. I know Marshall passed away in the later 1980's and his widow kept the shop open until the mid 1990's The last time I ate there was 1996. I know the building was tore down to make way for the current parking lot. Lupo's hot dogs were steamed, but his beef sauce was very watered down. Just some history, thought you might be interested.
OK! Will do. That is one of the questions I was going to ask them.
Yanns has been there since the 1950s. Russell Yanns father Tony opened it, now Russell's daughter runs it.
@@rudolphlarry Thanks a lot Larry.
@@rudolphlarry Thank you for answering the question.
His daughter runs it Vandettas is much better, give them a try. Open Tuesday thru Saturday till 530. On Locust Ave on the right just past hoops.
Yann's hotdogs! I remember that place. Is the Cabaret nightclub still rocking? Joe's place? Ceaser's supper club? Any of them places still around?
Yanns is still going. All the others are long gone.
No there all down.
The greatest UA-camr in West Virginia 🏆
Thanks
Hell yeah !
I’m moving back to Fairmont. Let’s hit the planet fitness 💪🏻
You should make a video on yann’s vs. woody’s hot dogs
May cause problems, don't want that.
Couldn't watch. Wtf is up with the music?
Thought it would be better then the wind sound, Yes the video was not stable , forgot to turn that on.
Mute and watch. I did and loved the video.
yum! Ya made me hungry as fuck :o - Love the accent btw bruv, no homo =) <3
Me too Scott
I could use some left over pizza
They look like they have fixed downtown Fairmont up quite a bit the last time I was there it was looking quite rundown, but it looks much better now
This made me home sick, even though I’m not born and raised there my family was. They are from rivesville.. my grandma lived in the same house for 70 some years. My mom was born there. It still has family living in it to this day. I haven’t been back there a while… my mom and dad are buried in hawkinberry Hollow way up on a mountain. I remember the movie theater and an ice cream shop and a place called Lupo’s lunch that I don’t think is there anymore. My dad always took me there when I was young. They had the best hotdogs and bottled Coca-Cola. They’re great memories and I wish I could go back a lot of times. Thanks for the great video.
No problem, Thanks for the visit. Lupo's is gone and the bus depo is gone to.
great video. Glad to see you posting again!
Hey that's my street
I knew this was gonna be scary soon as I saw the dog with the shifty eyes! 😂😂😂👍🏾✌🏾
Music is totally unnecessary. Fairmont is a beautiful town on both sides of the river.. my great aunt and uncle live there and we visited them every Thanksgiving and sometimes on Christmas. And during the summer for 2 weeks. We had a lot of fun there back in those days, the late 60s and early 70s. And the main attraction was Yan's hot dogs, pepperoni rolls. The last time I was there was early 2000s on my great aunt's 98th birthday. It's a Wonderful memory and I love it and miss it to this day.
Reat ride thanks
You bet
Is there a "point" to this clip ride?
Zombie apocalypse music. I get out in 5yrs. Can't wait to come home.
2:00 - The city line more or less runs along this hilltop. A correction, the street you have listed as "Palatine" is actually "Grandview". It really was once a "Grand View" before the trees got so tall. Palatine Avenue is the next street down at 2:50 . That aside, very nice work! I was through there about three hours after you shot this.
Lived on view ave. My first house 30 years ago
