I know Old Airport Road Hawker Centre used to have a stall selling Pipa Duck. Does anyone know if it's still operating? I once ordered a Pipa Duck from dun remember where which was sent to my house. However, it's not the Pipa Duck I knew when I was younger. The Pipa Duck during my era was really very thin and the skin was very crispy and a very thin of meat attached. During the 60s and 70s, we ate only the skin of the Peking Duck and the skinless duck was sold to people who went to the restaurant kitchen to buy (It was $1.00 in the 70s). Then, in the 80s, the chef would cook the meat and served it later. We Cantonese ate only the skin of the roast piglet. In the past, some relatives brought their own pots to bring home the left over. It was my sister's wedding and my mother brought home some meat and the next day, she fried it with vegetables. It was very 骚 (unpleasant smell ) and then I knew why people didn't want to eat the meat.
