    G'day from Australia, A10 Super Rocket has a single R stamped in the engine numbers and a Road Rocket has RR in the engine numbers, no Rs then it's an A10, hope that helps, cheers mate.

    Sorry but this BSA isn't from 1960. as the sign posted indicates. Ventiladed dual-shoe frente system brake, came on later models. Beautiful bike!!!! Thanks Andy for sharing!!!

      You don't date a bike by the parts that have been fitted by previous owners , like the later and better brake . You date it by the frame number , and this one is 1960 .

    Had one of these in the mid 80’s and used it for everyday transport in London while at Uni. Also rode it from Christchurch, Dorset up to Wakefield for the 1985 Jampot Rally. Made it with a big smile on my face with lots of flies stuck in my teeth! Good fun to ride and made lovely sound through the Barbican tunnel😂

      Never understood how you lads use both petrol taps to start, I run old brit bikes all the time, and I thought right tap for normal running, and left tap was always reserve supply, perhaps you could enlighten me

    • @peterranson4365
      @peterranson4365 День тому

      That's what I do with my bikes , but most if not all bikes here will be on reserve as we only have enough fuel in them to do the road test etc.

    Thats how a vintage motorcycle SHOULD look. I only hope it goes into the hands of an equally enthusiastic new owner, who will appreciate all the previous hard work on it's superb turn out, and keeps this equally as nice with lots of autosol and black fingers! I have lost count of the many motorcycles I have previously owned, in equally as immaculate condition, only for some lazy old bozo to buy it, and neglect the very thing that they bought it for.. Unbelievable!

    I reckon its allways worth putting these old bikes in gear and pulling backwards to free off the clutch before starting especially if not ridden much. Lovely looking machine but I can't help saying I would prefer a B31. Those jampots not very handsome. Very nice all the same

    • @zedcharlie

    • @peterranson4365
      @peterranson4365 День тому

      If you look in the background you can just see my model 20 which I use a lot. The clutch doesn't stick and I have got out of the habit of clearing the clutch before stating which as you suggest is a good idea. I however have to disagree with you about the B31 , the Jampots aren't the best looking units but they and the Teledraulics offer a far superior ride than anything BSA made .

    Beautiful bike but I fear that the riders that love and appreciate machines like this are fading away, I can’t see the younger generation taking much interest to be honest. It’s a real shame.

    I had the same bike, 1960 T100A with the bath tub and distributor ignition. My first big bike, bought it in Cornwall in 1967. I’m pretty sure they had capacitor discharge ignition which kind of worked like a magneto even though it was coil ignition. The 500s were smoother than the 650s. That bike looks very original apart from the electronic ignition.

    Lovely bikes, I had one the same but brush painted blue. Used to commute 40 miles a day on it, never let me down. Did about 80 miles to the gallon. Only weakness was the front brake, a bit too small for the weight. I fitted the front wheel off an A10 with the 8" brake, drops straight in.
