The “bunny hop” you are referring to is a real life reaction in deer hunting. It’s referred to as a “death kick” and is usually a good sign of a shot that’s hit the vitals.

Do you usually play on hiker difficulty? I always felt like it was a shooting gallery on that difficulty... High potential genetic deer alot more common. Felt like no matter what I shot they turned into 4 stars at least

Well I would do this but moose hate me in this game😅. I've seen 'you were attacked by an animal and lost consciousness' so many times from moose it's beyond a joke. They have that inspect mechanic as well. You so much as scratch your backside and the moose start staring and walking over to you. I remember that time I was stalking caribou and this moose just came outta nowhere. Managed to jump out the way on that one.

Does anyone know, do rare fur colors also carry down in the gene pool? If you leave Mela or an Albino, will it potentially spawn later? I can't find an answer to that.. :/

New subscriber here, I just bought the game and first impressions are that its more realistic than HCOTW .I just finished the first two missions at nez perce and looking forward to trying multi player.

I keep coming back to this game. I used to try to herd manage the whole map, 5 or 6 species at once, but that was way too tedious, time passed too slowly. I'm going to manage 1, maybe 2 species in their primary hab at a time, and let the years pass more quickly. Get my 5 stars, then move on to the next species. Great explanation of the mechanics in your vid!

There is a herd in my game that is just females right now

So one thing that wasn't mentioned.. If herd size constant? Like if I take one in the grasslands, does another appear somewhere else in the grasslands? Or in that specific herd? Immediately or after a year?

Waiting for this to go on sale. Looks great. One thing from seeing these videos I like over CotW is the scope sway seems more realistic meaning it is better controlled. I hate how bad the scope sways in CotW even with the perks. It's as if he devs have never fired a rifle.

I’m convinced the mechanics of this game are programmed to always spawn in at least one low fitness male in each herd,flock, pack or whatever. I killed all the bucks or left only a 3 or 4 star buck in herds numerous times and there is always I mean always a young buck with a whacky looking rack that is worse than the others I killed off. I understand that it’s part of what helps with the longevity of this game to keep it interesting but it gets annoying that you’ll never get the perfect herd. I also wonder if there will ever be a perfect trophy on this game. Has anyone ever gotten a 100%fitness animal with a 500 score. I accidentally killed a 99.99% snow hare that was a young male while completing an objective. I don’t care about getting 5 star trophy hares but I still felt like crap because I didn’t even check what it was before shooting. What is the lowest fitness you gives have harvested? Mine was 10 or 11%

I didn’t even realize there were black tail on that map. I don’t hunt on it much, just when I feel like hunting bison and caribou

Yep that is why is use the lapua for everything, it seams like all the guns are inconsistent. if you are a little off with the lapua they Aren’t going far. Also the bear brand crossbow is crazy overpowered. I use that as secondary if I’m in a situation that i don’t want to spook other animals or other herds nearby.

I have killed a 12% fitness animal. Do any animals get below 10%?
