I can relate to the feeling of taking extra precautions with your hearing aids when travelling to a place too far from your audiologist 😂😂 And btw I absolutely forgot there were dryers for hearing aids, I live next to the Mediterranean Sea (Valencia), and I remember I had something similar when I was a child because of the moisture. Curious if maybe some issue I had is because of the moisture, but anyway I found it interesting that you took the precaution for that, may I ask what hearing aids you wear now?

The dryers are super essential for me! They help so much! I wear the oticon opns now!

Very good video with insightful advice for Iphone users. I have the Oticon bone anchored hearing aid. I have had for years and love it. Recently rediscovered the connect clip in box and will give it a try.

Have you tried using it to connect your hearing aids to a PC or Mac? It sometimes works great although sometimes when using Microsoft Teams people on the call say I sound like a robot? Do you have any experience with this?

    • @itsagoodlife22

I have not! I think the Mac I have is too old to connect! But I have heard that ppl sound like robots when they use it!

I found this channel when I was starting my journey with hearing aids. Conference rooms often kill me. Phone calls to my hearing aids works well for me. I am not sure how it sounds on the other end. I have been able to use over the ear headphones for normal computer Teams meeting and turn my hearing aid down a click or two to take out the feedback squeal. Drive thrus simply have bad audio all around.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm also thinking they could have sat you next to the speaker of whatever was playing this podcast and you could have put your phone up to it to use speech to text, at least that way you'd have had a form of transcript? :(

Great video with very detailed insights. I believe some of the activities are doable depending on the extent of your hearing loss. Unfortunately, that's not the case for me; I would never attempt to go through a drive-thru, setting myself up for failure and struggle. However, the issues you've mentioned are daily challenges for us. If you've had hearing loss for a while, I'm sure you're accustomed to it by now. For newcomers, knowledge is power. Thank you for sharing.

  • @theycallme_trey3715

Well said. I find that I'm not very vocal about my hearing loss unless I'm directly speaking with someone, and even then, I sometimes forget due to the natural flow of the conversation. However, when someone has to repeat themselves, I'll mention it. These small incidents do occur, even when going through the proper channels. Hopefully, it was just a one-off and won't happen again. If you want to share your graduation experience, that would be awesome. Considering you're diving into the working world soon, you could offer insights, tips, and how you navigate the challenges, as well as what it takes for someone with hearing loss to manage a full-time job in your industry, mentally and otherwise. Also, I noticed your hobby of reading books-continue with what makes you feel fulfilled. If you're outdoorsy to an extent and enjoy sightseeing or visiting places like art galleries or aquariums, it would be nice to hear your opinion, along with footage of course.

That coffee shop date story had me laughing out loud! Honestly, I'm grateful you shared it. Life is indeed about perspective; we grow and improve through our experiences. Considering this is online dating, it has its pros and cons. I'm excited for you, especially as someone with hearing loss, and it's great that your date was accommodating-that's a huge plus. It's also wonderful that they respected you, your time, and saw you for who you are. You're knowledgeable, wise, and beautiful. I enjoy your content and, as for the future, if it's meant to be, just don't get married without letting us know! Sending warm regards from Florida🌴🌴🌴

Thank you for sharing! I’ve had a hearing loss since I was 3 too! Went through so many of the things you’ve listed. It’s an interesting life to live for sure haha. I’d like to consider that hearing loss gave us the gift to be adaptable. It’s also gives us a unique perspective on life as well as empathy for others. While it has brought us many challenges throughout the years, it has also given us many gifts that make us who we are today!

    • @itsagoodlife22

Interesting topic and intelligent take, definitely support system matters, foundation as well whether it be having hearing loss from a young age or older , I’ve heard success stories from those with disabilities you being one of them, it’s important to distinguish ourselves with the accomplishments we achieve and let not what we have hurdle us, cause looking back what we have today did not existed some many years ago, Thank you for your message, God bless.

Do you think people should ask you about whether or not you have a relationship with Jesus. ?. I mean the topic is far more important than people’s opinions about minor things. I’ve lived over 50+ years with a hearing loss, so I do understand some of our struggles we have with the hearing community. Good you’re sharing some of your experiences, it may help others in some ways. Merry Christmas to you and your love ones.

  • @InHisHands777

I’m 50+ years experienced in what you are experiencing. I have always been in the hearing community and don’t really know others like myself. It definitely can feel isolating being as we are. Just want you to know, you’re not alone in our struggles. God Bless you in your journey. Steve.

Relatable, most situations, if not all i inform the individual i'm better with 1 on 1 conversations vs a group and also it depends on the environment, needless to say i don't have much friends, but each individual i encounter, i try to spark up a conversation, whether it be compliments, tattoos, something noticeable about that person, as well as profession.

Agree with you about Babel. Although, I also DNF'D The Poppy War too. For me, it's her writing style. I wasn't invested in any of the characters and she's one of those author's that uses a "mallet " when she's trying to impart her "lesson". 😏 If I wanted that I could watch an ABC After School Special, which was the bibe her book was giving me. Plus, was she getting paid per footnote or something?! 😂 It was like SJM and her endless ellipses, who I also can't read. (Mostly because of her poor writing and lack of editing) I knew Spare was going to be a train wreck. 🤨That whole family is Messy. If the Brits were smart they'd boot the lot of them out and put their overly large salaries back to the people, where it could actually do some good and serve a purpose unlike the royals.

    • @itsagoodlife22
      @itsagoodlife22 9 місяців тому

Yes! The footnote comment was so funny! I liked the Poppy Wars but it took me a while to get connected to the story! HAAH I love the Throne of Glass series so I can’t say anything bad about SJMS books. Spare was a messy book 😭 thank you for your comment! I would love to hear what some of your favorite books were this year!
