I divided by 2 because its an even data set. In median if its an odd data set you can quickly identify the median, but with an even data set you divide the two middle values by 2 such as finding theb mean of the two data points. Check out my video on mean median mode and range. Now we are look for the 11 and 12 data point so I started counting the 0-5 range had 1, the 10 - 15 had 4 together that becomes 5 data points. Now if I add that 5 to the 8 data point i now have 13 data points and 11-12 will fall in that class. I hope this make sense it is very difficult explain through words.

Hi there, in the question, it stated that there were 5 tests. I find that they ususally tell how many items and you are finding the missing term. Hope that helps.

In some states, you can take them individually, but I don't know if that is allowed in New York.

Hi there, I cannot recommend any institutions that offer online classes. You will have to do the research, however be careful as some places may require a fee. Some places like the public libraries offer free classes, but I do not know if they have online classes. Note the GED test in NY State is free to take and you must take the test at a site. NY does not offer the GED test online. I hope that helps.

There is no rule. It is assumed that if you see, for example, 7, it is raised to an exponent is 1. They will not write a 1 for the exponent. Only 0 and exponents of 2 or higher are indicated.

NYS does not offer the option to test online. You can take the test at an approved GED test center.

You can request your transcript by mail. It will cost $4.00 and you will have to get a money order. This site has all the information and the form that needs to be filled out with your $4 money order to send to Albany. www.acces.nysed.gov/hse/duplicate-diplomas-andor-transcripts

Try calling the number on the form. Hopefully someone picks up and can answer that question. When I reviewed the form I wondered the same thing. However, I am assuming that they will search by name and the last 5 digits of the social security number.

In NY state, we do not have a choice. You can only take the GED exam, and it is free for NYS residents. If a NYer wants to take HISET in Jersey, the test is approximately $104 computer. However, if you fail, you pay to retest on each subtest. Having reviewed all three tests, I find the curriculum for the GED math much better than HISET and the TASC test. New York State went with TASC in 2014 because of cost. GED was more expensive after they revamped their test, which did not measure the current high school standards. I have reviewed all three, and for math, I like the curriculum of the GED. I was able to keep the majority of my content on this channel and curriculum. Anyone watching these videos can take the GED and pass as I only need to make a few new videos for those topics that were never part of the TASC, which is not many. The curriculum is more manageable to teach in 15 weeks. As a math professor, I find the content appropriate for college entry. All tests are easy if the instructor explains the content so that students understand and are creative with making the content enjoyable and understandable. Now I can't talk about the other content areas. However, after reviewing the GED science content, I preferred the TASC science as it aligns with regents exams.

@@MathWithDrWar I understand the reasoning, I deal with adult students who have experienced less than adequate opportunities during their school years. The GED and TASC exams spoke to those who were math and science minded. I feel the HI-Set is less stringent and allows the math phobic a better chance at passing. It all depends on ability of the tester, plus HiSet has an at home exam.

No. TASC and GED are two different tests with different rubrics, curriculum and test developers or publisher. She will have to take the math test and pass in order to get her high school diploma.

Hi Jennifer 62 1/2 is a mix fraction and we can change it to an improper fraction by taking the whole number 62 and multiply the denominator 2 and add the numerator 1. This gives your new numerator which is 125 (62 x 2 + 1) and denominator remains the same. your answer is 125/2. How did you arrive at 5/8? Can you explain how you arrive at that number?

Hi Jennifer, I don't understand your question... 62 1/2 is a mix number do you want to convert to an improper fraction.

You will have to take the Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA). Anyone who fails writing or reading will have to retest on RLA. The GED has only 4 test subjects, and the RLA is a combination of reading and writing that cannot be separated. In all you will be taking writing section all over again.

I don't know much about the content of the RLA, but you will have 45 minutes for the essay. The RLA is three sessions and 150 minutes ( 2.5 hours), but you get 10 min break between sections 2 and 3.

Glad to hear it! I will be posting videos as if I am teaching my in-person class to help folks be successful and pass the GED. I will be posting 2-3 videos a week. It is different than the TASC in question format and curriculum; however, there are some similarities.

Your coworker will only need to retest on mathematics on the GED. His other test scores will be grandfathered. Once he passes mathematics, he will be awarded his high school diploma, which will show a blend of TASC results and the new GED math test result on the transcript.
