This is a way better review than the other ones I have seen!
Thank you for showing in depth. I think I will use this for my ninth grader!
Very informative. TY for sharing. All your vids are always so helpful. 🤗💕
Send all the books by post so I don't have to by them thanks
I always purchase books used and cut out other books completely. Sometimes you can find books on UA-cam or as free audiobooks on LibriVox.
Hi, what did you use for 8th grade if you don't mind me asking?
My son used Easy Peasy Language Arts for 8th grade with a few units from Moving Beyond the Page mixed in.
Why did you decide to go with a more traditional approach for Geometry?
I already had Math U See Geometry at home leftover from my older son. I'm giving it a try to save money. Although, Life of Fred Algebra is going so well, I may still continue on with it.
Was totally planning on using something else, but this definitely has my interest now! Thanks for a great in depth look into this curriculum!😊
How do you grade this currriculum? Can the reviews be counted as Tests?
You can use the weekly review as a test or quiz. I grade by how much effort they put into it and how well they know the material.
This looks friggin' incredible. Set theory? Tomas More? Bring it on!
Great review, thanks! There is a lower level for middle school that’s focused on creative writing that I plan to use with my rising 8th grader next year. I’m glad to see the next step is solid.
I did use the 6-9 Wordsmith level with my younger son. He also liked that level.
Extremely helpful ❤ Thanks for sharing!
So many fantastic curriculum picks. Happy Homeschooling y’all 🤗🤗🤗
Well organized 👍🏾
Thank you for this video it’s exactly helpful 👍🏾
😊
Thank you, this was very helpful! ❤
I was amazed how much my daughter learned with Life of Fred. We focused on Math-U-See his year but your video makes me want to pick up our Fred books again. Thanks!
To be fair, there's not much to color if it's chemistry. ;)
Hope you're feeling better! Thanks for the mid-year homeschool update.
Im happy to say that I have just been pronounced cancer free.
😊
do you think it is possible to use this curriculum for certain aspects? Like skip grammar pages or skip communication days? just wondering if it would still flow ok if I were just to purchase it for certain aspects that I find are missing from other curriculum I am using for english credit. thanks for any help you can give
I think it would be easy to separate out grammar. The grammar lessons are clearly marked at the top of the page.
I’d like to know what grammar concepts and mechanics are covered and what needs to be known prior to taking this course (or what does the course assume you know). Also, what does the spelling aspect look like?
The spelling list in the back corresponds to the weekly vocabulary list. I don't have my kids work on spelling anymore in high school. The grammar looks like normal higher level grammar concepts. It has good explanations and I don't think a prerequisite is needed for the grammar lessons.
We didn’t love the ones for the younger grades, but this one does look more appealing for the same reason you stated. We so do a very literature rich curriculum, so this just makes it easier to balance that.
People from Spain sound different, they do tend to sound more “lispy” Did you award your son a whole credit for Spanish 3 after taking these 2 courses? Did you use anything else? My daughter is just starting with Spanish 1 this summer. She will be in 8th grade this fall. I figures we’d move at her pace. Not sure if she would need to go slower or not. I have an old Abeka Spanish 1 curriculum I found for $5. I speak/read Spanish, but I need tools to help me teach it bc I never took classes. My parents speak Spanish and so I learned from them. I think these Edx courses will come in handy after we finish this Abeka curriculum
I'm giving him 1 credit for the 2 courses, and he is also watching Netflix shows in spanish for the remainder of the school year.
That’s a great idea! I’m only asking because I am learning how to create courses for my children. My daughter will start earning some high school credits in 8th grade. So, it was for my learning purposes and not to judge how you are doing it. I hope that makes sense. Thank you for sharing your homeschool high school experience with us
Thanks for the video. Can you please share what you have used for Spanish? Thanks!
This year we have used 2 college Spanish courses from Edx online. I have a video review for it. I recommend using the paid version over the free one. His favorite Spanish we previously used was Foreign Language for Kids by Kids (FL4K). They have a high school level.
Thank you. I will look for that video.
Thank you for such a thorough review 🙏
Thanks for sharing your picks! I’m excited to try out Masterbooks LA for my son next year. His older brother uses TGTB but they have very different learning styles so I knew I needed to try something different with him and was so excited when Level 9 came out. What are you using for Spanish 2? My oldest son is not loving what we used for Spanish 1 this year and I am debating switching.
Spanish has always been a sore subject in our homeschool. I think we are going with Foreign Languages for Kids by Kids (FL4K). They have a high school level. I did make a video for what we have tried for Spanish in the past.
I think of all the UA-cam homeschool mamas, you are probably closest to my style of education. I get super excited when I see a new video from you!
Thankyou! That's exactly what I wanted to see. I am definitely thinking of using this
I love your videos. We, too, love Guest Hollow and Easy Peasy.
Hi! New to your channel but MB level 9 caught my eye! Would love more insight since it's new ❤
Same!
I'll try to get a video out next week.
That looks great! I'd like a flip through of the language arts grade 9!
I'll try to get a video out next week.
I’m looking forward to a flip through of that too!
@@kyleighhiles9733 I have a flip through posted.
@@homeschooldaze4283 yes I found it, thank you!
Great selection of courses and material. The Pilgrim's Progress book looks really good, very different than just a regular chapter book. Is that only available at Master books? The History workbook looks good too! Thanks for sharing.
The Pilgrims Progress is a journal version only published by Master Books. I purchased mine from Christian Book.
Prayers for you!
Hi. I am a new subscriber. Didnt know abour this resource. My little one is six, but this is good to know for the future. 🙏☺️
Sending positive energy! Thank you for sharing
Thanks for the overview. These edX courses are on my list of possibilities.
I'm so sorry you're sick. If you get a chance, I'd love to see a review of that Spanish class.
I will let you know when I make the video
I have just posted a review for the EdX Spanish courses.
My thoughts and prayers are with you my friend!
Thank you.
Awe I have been wondering how y’all was doing. Prayers for you!
Thanks.
I'm praying for you. I love your choices, and I'm always happy to see a new upload from you. God bless.
Thanks.
Dear lady, I will keep you and your family in my prayers. God bless you and all you do!
Thank you.
Excellent review... Very informative.. TY so much for all of your content.. Truly greatly appreciated... 🤗💕
I didn't realize how limited offline homeschool options were to find. This was one of the very few packages I was looking at, and it seems this presented the package a great deal better than the company does itself! I'm looking to set up a small homestead, and will have some family join me, with their kids and possible grandkids later. Being rural, and to avoid almost 2 hours driving to/from the nearest schools, an offline option for education was what we were looking to take on. Thanks for the great information!
love seeing your binding strategy! Thank you so much for sharing your super video!
Thank you for this. I was debating on what to do. We started borrowing the books, instead of reading online. I think that breaks it up nicely. I was debating getting the books, this helps so much! We have a limit budget and 2 entering. My oldest is also not writing with confidence. I think EP last year helped. Fingers crossed for this year!
I plan on using these to alongside our History with Curiosity chronicles as my sons are not huge writers so these can be added to the one they provide!! Thanks for the video, it was very helpful!!
Thanks for sharing EP high school content! We are still in lower levels but I like to see high school curriculum too😃

So helpful, thanks!
