1964 Olds rear shock replacement
Переглядів 202 місяці тому
1964 Olds 88 rear shocks are hard- or impossible- to find. This short video explains how I modified the rear upper shock mount to use a 1965 style shock absorber in my 1964 Olds.

I picked up this car in October, and I've been working on it ever since. At long last, it's pretty much road worthy, so I want to share a video of a short drive, and a walk around.
1964 Olds 394: engine noise

The engine has a slight tick, but after a short time, it starts to knock. What's up with that? Short walk around of the car, knock starts around the 12 minute mark...

test ride on my rebuilt GS700ES, with wind noise. I clipped a GoPro clone (DBPower) to my handlebar and went for a ride. You might turn the volume down...

The relay will work either way.85 and 86 is the coil, the positive or ground can be on either termial when energized the contacts close 30 and 87 still connect from opposite corners.
I've done so much on this car now... but I still have an issue with the radiator lower hose. I'm going to pull the radiator and get it pressure tested. I'm going through the brakes too... stay tuned!
Now, after rebuilding the engine, that sounds like shit before it starts to knock. I found I had low compression on at least 3 cylinders, and when I took the motor apart I found the cam and lifters were shot. You can hear the tap at around the 6 minute mark. I still question the radiator. I have to have it pressure tested. And yeah- I did take motor out. I had the block tanked and the cylinders honed, the crank ground, new bearings on the bottom, and a new cam shaft, lifters and push rods. I've posted other videos after the work was done on my channel, and I'm still working on the car.
This bike sat for over 10 years, it took 4 years to rebuild it. Now it's 4 years later, and I'm not sure I've ridden it since 2020. A shame really. I should sell it.
カッコ(≧∇≦)bイイです~渋いですね~素敵です~😂👍👍👍✨🎶😊😉🤔🙆
I had a 1978 olds cutlass supreme with a 455 turbo 400 12bolt rearend.sick fast miss that. Your 64 is awesome 😎👍
I had a 64 Olds convertible back in 1979. I do not remember now if it was a Starfire or Dynamic. It was dark metallic blue, red interior and white convertible top. I remember a foot button next to the headlight dimmer that automatically selected am radio stations! The 394 had lifter issues but adding spacers to a few lifters I got it to fire somewhat correctly on all 8...changed plugs alot! I think this was the most comfortable car to sit and drive I have ever owned and regret selling! Oldsmobile cars in 60's didn't suffer as much rust rot issues.
What are the switches by the wing window cranks
Power vent window switches, must be an add on.
Power door locks. The lock mechanism on the drivers side binds so if I lock the car I can't unlock it without great effort. I have to replace the "window scrapers"- the rubber seals that keep the water out of the door. And I have a new top for it, so I'm going to roll it into the barn, replace the convertible top and top seals, the window seals, and the carpet. I'll have to pull the door cards, and I'll fix the locks when I do that.
@@frothe42 power locks. The car has crank windows and power locks. Go figure...
And your rims and brakes looking fucking amazing! Good looking bike 🏍 I have basically the same bike but your is black. And just realized my pipes are completely rusted. Guess I’m just going to wrap them.
You mounted those sport demons on? Haha good lord I wish I could have watched that.
Where would you buy the chrome pipes for 400$?
