Silat - Warrior Gym

Can i get little more motivation please, these guys look like they do not want to be there, you only have the privilege of the legendary Dan Insanto training you smh
Kindly assist on my martial research... What's the name of the pattern depicted on the mat they are standing on?
Pantjar.
How 'bout full speed w/ someone trying to win a bout in MMA?
This is a great art for Halloween and if you want to fight a person with one arm
I attended a seminar in 1998/9 with Inosanto in So Cal, what a legend!
And again dude just stands their and does nothing, bruce lee is rolling over in his grave watching Dan demo this crap. This is the reason why Brice hated styles. It’s all BS
Its strange how anyone that does Silat always receives the strike with their opponents leg forward...never the legs reverse.

Staged, choreographed martial arts techniques won’t work in a real fight unless there’s sparring or resistance training.
I completely agree. I’ve been in hundreds of street fights and this is bullshido. I was a huge fan of Bruce Lee as a kid, but after fighting in the real world I realized very little of this stuff works on the street. If it did you’d see working it in MMA. It doesn’t. Everyone on you tube these days is an expert in something. This is expert bullshido.
The stuff they do doesn't look like JKD, it looks like Muay Thai or American kickboxing.
Jkd is not philosophical It’s hard mechanics It’s attribute training The art fits the attribute Not the other way around Period it’s not eclectic It’s not what works It’s picking out of 5000 Martial arts the right one that showcases your talent This means read all train all It’s not this or that
met sifu dan in grants pass at seminar / awesome teacher and person
Much Respect Master Dan Ins 😊
Such a Master Martial Artist. Legend.
One thing that bothers me in Mathew polls book it describes Bruce's sparring with wong shun leung and bruce struggled to decisively beat him using jeet kune do. Bruce couldn't land any kicks and wong got through with a hand to Bruce's throat. Fifty years later a witness to this admitted if he had to pick a winner he would have to say bruce. Jkd should have ended it in seconds but didn't.
high level! very high level!
Dan Inosanto is one of the big gest frau dst ers in martial arts. His "as many arts as possible" (his words). Was designed to keep students coming in paying him money. Sc s ammer.
You ever meet him? Train with him?
That's pure bullshit talk.
He is one of the most qualified martial artist one the planet
dan was brilliant just the best there was.... thats why bruce loved him

Looks like a mediocre average training day in any standard “same as any other” MA school.
This is some really cool stuff I have done Jeet kune do Kali and silat with Sifu Bruce mc culloch who spent many years in America being trained by dan inosanto who come to Australia every few years
That sparring looks like garbage. Listen, you can sparr with light contact, but with quality technique and with good timing. Light contact doesn't mean garbage technique. Those kicks were being thrown a mile away and they looked so telegraphed. Light contact sparring should be done with good quality technique, and with good timing. The whole idea with "light contact sparring", is to practice good technique with good timing under light pressure (or with someone who is not fully cooperative), without hurting your training partner. "Light contact sparring" is NOT where you abandon using good technique. It dosent look like Dan was actually training or sparring with anyone at this point, he looks more like an old coach in this video.Dan probably stopped sparring around the time Bruce died. At one time, Dan was pretty active in the national circuit with Karate tournaments, and this was all probably before Dan started training with Bruce.
lock it up

I wish Dan had been in more movies during the 80s and 90s. He as always just a side character always losing
It looks beautiful. You just never see this stuff performed live in a sparring situation. I have an automatic Silat sweeping response when I am in a certain position, but I never get there in a sparring situation, only while doing trapping training. I think for empty hand grappling and throws, wrestling, Judo and Jujitsu are the way to go. Boxing for hands, Silat and Fillipino arts for stick and knife and knees and elbows., Muy Thai, Savate for hands knees elbows legs. Silat and a lot of the Kali stuff is too preprogrammed for empty hand fighting.
You use kali and silat for your weapon skills
@@mrmushin1 With some modifications I have made with fellow martial artists. Threw away a lot of stuff that is not effective
Saw Vut Academy on the Ring. Used to fight in the early 90s and Kru Vut was a regular at the fights. Nice guy
All that training not one with a blood nose. Boxers are in the ring every day. Getting beat up. Blood noses every day knocked down body liver hits. With fantastic feet work. And hands. This stuff u are teaching is usless. U going to get them killed
Is this training aiming at making you better at sport fighting or self defense? Maybe for general fitness purposes, you know, aerobic, cardiovascular condition. I don’t know…
Chad in his Martrial Art prime...Mr John vick man.
I didnt know Dan was a cross dresser 😂😂

Chad Stahelski
This is Why Bruce lee immediately told him to stop teaching. He told his close door students. Dan just doesn’t get it..
Elaborate please?
C'mon Tony...stick to your UA-cam hu hu wu wu...
If a championship Olympic fencer said 'here's my favorite winning technique' and showed you, you wouldn't be able to DO it. Same with BL's JKD, designed for HIM, with his reflexes and speed. Imagine how frustrating it was for him to see 'club fighters' try to do his stuff, like Tim Tackett or the Wednesday group. They were too old, too slow. Sure Kudos to them to try and perpetuate it but they knew they were just going through motions. None of them were going to go get in a bar fight with their 'BL fav moves' after class. So beyond perpetuating, what's the point?
@@1destinyslegacy Dan did not like to spar. He also was pushing the Filipino agenda and Bruce Lee said do not like a martial art just because it’s from your home country Bruce Lee was not planning on dying after he died. These guys ran wild and used his name to get people through the door and look at the quality of the students. How much actual training do you need for a knife or a stick Filipino martial arts is total classical mess

I miss the old torrance academy 🙏🏼
It was in Carson
@@Bitcoin_Gold now that you mention it, this does look a bit different. It must have been in Carson after Torrance. I was at the Academy in Torrance in 79. Thanks!
He is a genius instructor
Very good
Disappointed. Can't believe this. Now all of you fans, brace yourselves to what I got to say. These guys moved just like Dan, but the Dan who sparred with Bruce (remember the footage, 1967). No JKD at all, show me where they 'intercepted' an attack, just like what Bruce did in their sparring. No wonder Linda Lee said, of all Bruce's students, only Ted Wong moved like him. Sorry about that.
Jeet kune do concept not copy move of Bruce Lee it is blend from other arts. Jkd is philosophy art
Bruce was reluctant in teaching jkd ( which is a mind set or approach of tactics) because for one. Not everyone was small and fast like bruce thus changing the style for the individual involved (absorb what is useful discard what is not and find what works FOR YOU) your mechanics or height is what will set you apart physically
Yeh, that’s true. You never see any intercepting or fencing from Dan or his students. Concepts is a “classical mess” Bruce tried to get away from. “The majority of people who practice Jeet Kune Do are mixed up, they think it should be a part of Wing Chun, a part of MMA, a part of Thai boxing, a part of wrestling, you know, a part of Wing Chun, which this is completely incorrect. You don't go from style to style, you go from distance to target or target to distance. Longest weapon to the nearest target and the most direct and efficient route possible, that is Jeet Kune Do.” - Tommy Carruthers
The Lee estate is on bad legal terms with Dan Inosanto. Its sad that its ended up bitter in his golden years
Interesting cuz BRANDON LEE trained with and was certified under DAN INOSANTO 😂 GTFOH
Palavra dan başka bir şey yok hocanın özelliği şampiyonluğu yok.
the arts are seamless and endless.
This isn't Serak. This is a made up collection of made up techniques from Paul's brother Victor. It has no discernable relationship to Serak. Pendekar Paul's Serak and Bukti Negara did not emphasize locks as much. In the examples shown here, none of the platforms are being used, such as Tiga or Sliwa. It's just all completely made up from spending a short time training with his brother for the purpose of making money. It probably looks good to a beginner because the attacker falls down easily. However, many of the examples shown are 'heavy' and require a lot of muscle and force, which means they are not viable against a stronger person.
Ah! The old “this isn’t real serak the brother’s can’t get along” Silat nerd controversy. Didn’t know this was still going on.
@@stanleykowalskyYou must be a student of Bill. Have you seen Bill ever do the same thing twice? It is immaterial whether the brothers got along. Who cares? And where is the controversy exactly? The bottom line is that this not Pendekar Paul's art. I don't mind being a nerd that knows the difference. Better than being delusional.
@@BigDaddy-vr9lwForgive my limited understanding, but I was told that it was a common practice by silat teachers to not do the same move the same way every time. If that is so, why is it of importance that this Bill person does not do the same thing twice?
Chad with long hair
Feel strange to say this, but watching this was incredibly emotional. The swell of memories from the 90s, being fortunate to have visited this gym and learned from the great Guro Dan here and in his many seminars. One of the highlights of my life, and memories I will always treasure.
Indeed, all these memories remain forever engraved in our brains and their emotions are intense...but please tell me, if I am not mistaken, that they practice French boxing "savate" , is it true or am wrong ?
he doesn't care about life
Dan: Eddie never showed us any of these moves! Excellent!!
Love Sifu Inosanto! I had barely been doing martial arts for 6 weeks when I first met him at a seminar at Sifu Fong’s. He took the time to help an uncoordinated 18-year-old over 20 years ago. Meant so much to me. Great to see Jun Fan sparring! And Sifu Ron Balicki looking great sparring! (With Sifu Dicky Harrell I believe, another great instructor and practioner who taught my first JFJKD instructor, Sifu Bruce Jolly!).
Absolutely Great content. The long range tools, the short and mid range, great stuff. So much Martial knowledge.

The JKD my instructor Ralph Mitchell who is certified on the Paul Vanek, felt my particular aptitude was in Filipino martial arts and SAVATE. I’m focused my training on that seeing that I had the aptitude and attitude for those two art.we Also studied the standard JKD concepts and did all the exercises that are featured here. I did this in the 80s and 90s and it brings back good memories to see this
Who was Paul Vanek , student of Bruce Lee? Quite number of people like to mention in comment sections they had close connections with Bruce Lee through his former students, whether they were student of Kimura or Jesse Glover, BUT THEY NEVER DEFEND BRUCE LEE from naysayers. Was it one of the reasons is probably because they were students who, didn’t graduate, couldn’t cut it to be a fighter, cancelled future fighting lessons was embarrassed by his/her instructor.
I’m not sure if that is right about not having the focus mitts available before Bruce’s time in the 1960s. I don’t doubt they didn’t substitute sandals for focus mitts pretty innovative by the way! But didn’t Traditional boxing have these focus mitts? Just a question
I don’t think the focus mitts were invented until the late 70’s. Dan has told stories about Bruce using baseball catcher’s mitts to work as a primitive focus mitt. Boxers back in the day used medicine balls sometimes to punch at and a floating bag to work on punch accuracy. The boxing speed bag has been around for decades!
@@furnitureconsortiumbritish boxers used them well b4 bruce lee era
You can tell that the JKD guys were a custom to doing for contact! I know this because Dan feels the need to say more than once, to keep it light his fighters! LolI just finished watching a series of SAVATE videos and can definitely see the SAVATE influence in their movements.
Thank you........shame the camera on the pads and Shield was a little way off. Thank you all the same.
