Hey bro love the videos, Can i eat the punga tree fronds?
youre awesome
Remind me again on the rules regarding alcohol and firearms?
Love your dog brother. Just a whisper to get in and she immediately came around. Nice way to start the day, with or without the deer.
The statement about 1080 killing the birds may reflect why rec hunters are so ineffective providing any meaningful pest control unless very easy sites. You have to find them first, and functioning eyesight & hearing help, & knowing what to look/listen for. Wherever 1080 has been regularly used the research surveys clearly show stability or usually increases in most native bird populations. The fact some prominent UA-camrs deny this isn't due to lack of birds. Some of these also claim the deer are decimated by it. It gets some, the resulting indignant grief for Bambi & R.I.P. friends overlooks most of those present are not seen because dead stinking carcasses are easier to find than live deer. popular fake facts don't earn respect. Some basic techniques for more shooting stability appear to have been present & would be worth using if possible in any similar situations. And reviewing this footage to check the mutt's behaviour once given up. It appeared to be onto something close, which might have been more than where they had been.
Iv been a rural pest controller over 10 years with rural pest operations level 3 certs and have run 100s of "TARGETED" pest poison oporations and seen how effective they are not a poison lolly scramble where secoundry poisoning of birds of prey are a huge factor, you don't need to do much reasurch on the effects of poisoned tagged native species. seems the videos on UA-cam you watch are of guys who actually spend time in the hills and see the effects, not just pretend to know. There's a reason most bushman and pest oporators hate it.
@@zachines5010 The same reason Eugiene Sage described what they are so well when they were whinging about how DoC was going or eradicate tahr? NZ is getting more and more over-run with pests despite hunting being much more popular. Running hundreds of operations with all the certification doesn't equate to doing a good job (it's why many farmers dislike unknown contractors & despise some they do know with good cause). Different people have different experiences, although ineptitude and agendas rank highly why some can't locate animals, are anti-poison, and who pretend how "experienced" they are.
Aaaah another keyboard conservationist!! Always someone you know who knows something I'm speaking of personal experiences you keep talking about other peoples accounts I see now! Have a great day battler
@@zachines5010 The possibility inverting the inferred assumption of relative experience might exist? Like the abundance of killed birds of prey killed, and the "hundreds" of pest control operations run. Making a list of them should confirm the reality of actual personal experience. Having never seen mass destruction of birdlife (a few apparently isolated incidents have occurred) and the results over decades, the evidence is clear. Most problems are operator error. Like risking blowing a jaw off with an unknown background becoming ok, even professionals take shortcuts. Plenty of pest management professionals from managers to field staff have spurious opinions about the quality of their own talents and observations, a trend shared by rec hunters, guides etc. Some who are quite successful hunters, which makes getting them to use different methodology (to get the job done to spec) a challenge. 1080 being one, which became the go-to technique for re-working failed performance contracts rapidly by eventually successful contractors (a bit of history).
What failed performance contracts you think they poison easily acsessable bush the whole point and application is to treat "un accessible" remote bush, I'm assuming ur a greeny troll who thinks ev cars save the planet to. Be quite interesting to have a beer with you haha
Any fresh pig sign up there lately?
Yeah bro there was a far but along the tops
Hi uncle Zac sorry about mav hope whiskey is all goods for Rex
Faaark
Covid....looks like the Kakariki fence line. Nice
covid haha shit, im not vaxxed so I'll be safe hahaha. i have no idea how people find locations from the bush so funny how you think no one could have been to these places and bam every fukker hahaha.
@zachines5010 I grew up in Whitemans and know the place well. Cool vid mate 👌
You sound like you think the same way I do 😂😂
Yeah I think my filter is broken hahah
@@zachines5010 makes at least 2 of us
Good on ya mate. That dogs going good.
Yeah happy how she's going!! Still has her puppy moments but it's all good I let her be a pup haha should be a weapon next few years
How did you gain the confidence to hunt alone?
I'm with the pup haha nah I love the challenge further I go on my own the more challenging it is but I love it. Definitely more challenging on your own but I like the mental test haha
Sounds like every1 knows this spot 😂
Yeah bro da fack thought it was the virgin spot hahahaha
Cool video Zac, I am pretty sure I have seen you at the gym I go to.
Oh eh what gym?? Yoooo you living the dream I see off grid!! Coool
@@zachines5010 City fit ?
I had that same stag lined up 2 weeks before the roar, went back up there with no deer seen and a newly cut track down to the creek 😂
Oh is there another dam track hahaha I cut the follow on track down to the creek last week? Here I was thinking it wasn't thst hunted hahah!!
@@zachines5010 when your up the top there is a old track that follows the ridge, just need to punch through the gorse. When I was last up there someone had cut a new track straight down from the top. I'm not confident to shoot were you were set up with my 270 😂
Nice mate- big boi that!
I was up there last night. Shot a 9 point red stag. I think your track starts 5m away from one I use, I try to make the entrances not so obvious. :-)
Epic location that one. Good to see some deer there too! Great Video Zac
Well done on putting the mahi in training the dog. So worth it. The vizsla/gsps are the business. They have the drive, all you need to do is put the work in. She was onto one just off the ridgeline there! They do settle down after 2, then 4-5, minties. My guy will still do the odd zoomie at the end of a hunt day. Cracks me up.
Yeah bro and they go aaaaaalll day haha wicked
Nice mate 👌
The Wainui brotha haha
Nice brother👌
I have really wide feet mate and have always struggled with boots that don't hurt my feet. This year I got some Crispi's and I will never get anything else now. I can wear them all day with dry comfortable feet while hunting. Highly recommended for wide fat feet!!
Cheers mate might need to try some on iv always had thst problem
Undersized stuff sacks are a massive pain in the arse. I usually ditch the one supplied with the tent and use a larger one. There was a British climber called Mo Antoine who, after struggling to pack up a tent in a Himalayan storm, described it as "trying to put a condom on an elephant". He later opened a gear company and supplied oversized stuff sacks with their tents.
Yeah faaaarking nightmare!
Whats the book that has the mushroom information on your bench?
Theyr the my river cottage series there's a heap of wild edible books
John Wright
I see you used a dlint for your jetboil, do you have issues trying to ignite it? I have issues and it's very temperamental
Yup I don't even spend the extra for that upgrade anymore haha they always break
hot video thanks so cool🤠
Good spot that, you obviously walk down the highway?
Nah not the way we go that's 50/50 if your aloud down that track you mean, and you can be seen a miiiiiile haha u gotta be keen somewhere like that (alot of hunters and landowners cameras) to head in that way! Next time you head that way try find our track from the head of the valley. You obviously know where I am haha
Good dogs the visalas mate had one myself easy to train and real smart dogs.
Where/who is your dog from?
She's from Canterbury wicked Lil dog hell of a noes witch is a huge bonus haha
@@zachines5010 we have a V too similar age, from Santoft kennels
Good on ya mate. Same kinda story with me. I spend a couple of days chasing them back and forth playing hide and seek. Plenty of sightings though. Eager to know where you biv was tho....
That biv is a nightmare to get to but when you find it you'll no why hahah
@zachines5010 good video mate. I'm please to see the new dog going well.
Sweet video and woolen hoodie bro where would I find one 👌
Haha bro best things I have ever got i actually buy them from barkers outlet shops thryr only 100bux super soft epicly warm and keeps you warm when soaked!! If it had a hunting brand name they'd sell for 400buc
@@zachines5010 too right they would lol 😂😂
Nice work bro👌
Awesome hunting spot this, stayed there about a year ago also, plenty of deer and goats around came across some good stags too!
Yeah was a good spot eh but think it's only on hunt hq now drive in was sketch in the wet hahaha
Nice shot, and another pest gone.😊
nice
I was told not to take the mamaku unless it was a true emergency survival situation as they can't regenerate very well
Who told u that?? Mamaku on my property when pruned grow relitivky quick and tend to live upwards of 50 years they throw fronds pretty regularly
There were 3 fronds , he took one. Sound practice😊
That’s only when you take top heart of tree out. That will kill it
Welly has no shitty weather bruv. 😂❤
Hahahaha fuck hsha
Awesome vid, keep'em coming. I love seeing local content. Nice work with the training!
Cheers bro, if this weather here ever plays ball hahaha been so shit lately
Great tip about the heckles up. I have a vizsla gsp cross - will ser if he does it. Is it when she is trailing a deer a distance away or when in real close less 50m "business time"? Mine gives me "the look" when he has eyes on Use a 223 BLR with red dot. Use 55g sako gamehead. Works mint
Haha yeah seems this I's the only one I shot over that does it haha only when we're within 50m does she do it but makes it easy to tell hahaha. Yeah 100 thst sounds like a wicked setup
@zachines5010 interesting. My guy's tell is to look back at me like "there's one there Dad. Shoot it!"
Really enjoy your vids man... im a new hunter in Welly and love seeing what the bush is like around these parts... look fwd to seeing more vids
Awesome bro pretty lucky in welly with the aoragis tarries and rimutakas now she's trained should have more time to film haha
How far did it travel might be hard to find without your well trained pup
Only 50m but opposite direct I thought, they usually go down hill when shot like that definitely saved me a hour of searching!!
How good mate, all the hard work training is paying off! Always so cool to watch the dogs working the scent. Good work, primo video mate good to have ya back posting....
Haha she was alot of work bro so now the real hunting starts cheers bro
Chuuur solid meke teke brother 🎉 new sub, you ever catch n cook possom lol
Yeah bro but didn't slow cook it we had it on the bbq was tough as all hell needed to rest and slow cook hahaha
Damn that's keen brother, although it's on my list sometime end of year never been keen to try
Sorry to hear of Mavericks death mate.
Cheers for that she lived a eeeeepic life. My Deer numbers definitely down atm hahah
How was the pup to the shot? Nice getting it used to it well and early
She fazed by nothing hahahahah nah from 8 weeks old i desensitized her to cracks I use 2 peices of 4x2 luckily she isn't timid she loves it luckily
Recovery gear = bourbons haha shot bro, mean oright. Shot young levi, the man
Always a bourbon bro hahaha
Awesome bro, great teacher!
What would you recommend storm star or mountain star ?
Storm star for tops hunting where the weather can change over night 100 percent but for areas not as windy and volatile as the lower north etc and lowland hunting the mountain star is plenty of tent but that storm start is a bomb shelter but share tbe load haha
Cool mision brother, well done to Levi...that little kuri of yours is definitley fulll of beans!!
Haha bro is she whaaaaat can't wait to concentrate that lightning on stalking haha might require a few hard pats
@@zachines5010 😂
Awesome vid mate…it’s one thing making the shot…the real works in the retrieval…good to see…am looking forward to another one of those orongorongo vids chur chur
