Hello Steve. I live in The Scottish Highlands, but live in Australia back in the 1970s. I used to work at this plant in the 70s, and I didn't think Comalco would have disappeared from the area. I was living near Fairfield Heights at the time and didn't always have use of a car, so it was a long walk home quite often. I enjoyed my time at Comalco and it's fixed solidly in my ageing (70) memory banks. I've liked and subscribed. Great video. Regards. Derek.

I rode an electric dirtbike down porters road and along the river the other day (2022) and there's not much left, all flat now. You can still make out some of the A lines between the hairpin corners but not much else exists. A few sections along the creek were washed out in the recent floods, didn't see a soul the whole ride.

Not long before the floods destroyed the bridge and it had to be rebuilt. I live a few houses up the hill in 20 Chellaston Street.

Sadly the carp have made their way up now but at least they can't muddy it because it has a sandy and rocky bottom

ive been on the wilton side of the railway bridge its pretty easy to get to it just have to cross a bridge above the highway that is used to connect land and transport animals.

Looking at checking it out & noticed your car in the background & wondering about access. Is there a track to get in or did you get special permission?

why not running this gas as lot this in Australia or Japan in how to use the coal lot better in power station as running there on coal

Coming up from Melbourne sitting on my mums knee because there were 7 in an A40 I cried at the thought of crossing it so they told me to close my eyes. Great video and have driven across it many times since, even when Fox rigid Internationals were carting the coal.

A disgrace to see how private enterprise with vested interest can override what would have been a far more efficient an far more environmentally friendly way to move the coal. Let’s hope all the coal trucks moving through the region clogs and destroys roads.
