It depends. Some people listen audiobooks while being busy with other stuff. They miss half the book. At that point it is not reading.

oh how i relate so much to this 😕

to me, it counts as a book finished but not a book *read*. I saw a video of a women who listens to them on 3x speed and has apparently read 690 books this year. That’s not really reading more like skimming. But it’s completely different if you have issues that cause you to have difficulty reading, like if you’re dyslexic, etc. But if you’re like her and doing it just to say you’ve ‘read 690’ books, idk abt that.

I dislike audiobooks personally but thats just bc i like the feeling of the pages and other people can read books however the fuck they want

I listen to audio books cause of my dislexia and it helps my literature

Its not reading its being told a story basically 😭 i enjoy audio books too, but if you dont have the words in front of you, you're not reading you're listening

It really isn’t the same😂 it’s fine enjoy listening to audiobooks but it doesn’t count as reading. You did get the story or the information but you didn’t read it and so you didn’t have the same experience as someone who did read it, just like they didn’t have the same experience you had listening to it.

I listen to them while reading the book 😂
