Just completed my first gravel bike build before the event. Everything worked great except I didn't know how to ride dirt on the drop bar bike. CAT1 30-39 The course was not easy to ride fast because of sandy loose corners. Had an early crash leaving rashes on the elbow and knee, but managed to finish the race. 0:00 Race start 3:50 Little rock garden 13:10 Front tire washed out. It’s could be due to the wrong size /worn out rubber cap on the master cylinder.

after buying pistons from aliexpress from three different sellers I had the same effect on a larger or smaller scale after shorter or longer use. I went back to the old factory ones (they were still good although with scratches) and the problem disappeared
Seems like a gravel bike would do good there but those sand traps are a sinker. Are dropbar MTBs in the racing cards?

Had this happen to me when I went to altitude for a race. Ended up throwing it away for a SRAM.
Nice ride! I would definitely use a rear plastic mudguard in those conditions. It weighs only a few grams. Keeps your back/backpack and bum clean.
Nice video! How come your heart rate is so low? I'm 51 years young 😊 and mine is over 170 going uphill. Sometimes going well over 180 for short periods. Does lower hr always mean better fitness? I am 180 lbs but should be approx 172 lbs or so in reality. So a bit overweight. I am 5'8. What about you if I may ask?

I would recommend two bottles to be safe. It could be hot and dry.

It is an overlay from Garmin Virb.
Mine did this in the rubber expansion bladder if you take off handle bars n pull studs out back will come off n theres a spot that has a pinch point

Which replacement brake pistons did you go with?
Get a new master cylinder assembly if you can. Otherwise you can search on Aliexpress for the seal.

Yes many are on hardtails.
Great time, what is your weight and your average w/kg. We are doing this race this year and are trying to get an idea of what kinda w/kg is needed for a 530 finish time?
66kg / 184w average. Pacing yourself well makes it easier.
I love watching this! I miss racing these super fast CCCX courses, I raced a bunch but then moved back to Texas where courses are much slower/twister and more technical rather tactical. My race average speeds dropped from like 15mph at some CCCX races to 8 - 10mph at central TX race courses
Check the hose. Mine had a slight leak right at the connecting point

Absolutely ridiculous course marking. I would have gone wrong multiple times per lap.
When I called magura, they can't do anything because I didnt buy from the authorized dealer! So it's trash. I ended up selling it on pinkbike for 10$ per lever since both lever was leaking. Some guy were buying leaking levers and got some money. It's a trash lever and caliper since they're non repairable item. I ended up buying Hayes Dominion A4. It's Much better brake IMO.
Sorry to know that. It's actually repairable. All you need is a new lever piston with good seals, and you can find it on Internet for about $10.

@@samwilliams7191 take all the bolts out until it comes apart. From what I remember, you first remove the lever at the pivot pin, then you remove this little Phillips head screw and the master piston pops right out
So you bought an unauthorized magura which means you bought a knock-off.🙄 and then you trash Magura by blaming them because they won't warranty a fake brake system seems like that's pretty ignorant... Pull your head out sonny, magura make some of the best brakes on the planet. From Moto to push bikes. Maybe next time you actually buy a real magura system and stop acting like an 8 year old😂

The master cylinder seal is broken. You can try to contact Magura to check if it is covered by warranty.

There are 40K and 8K XC courses for 2022. You can try the enduro bike for the 40K one. It's going to overkill but it will be a comfortable ride.

Sure. I used Aspen 2.4 front & rear, but I would want a more aggressive front tire if I do it again. Dropper post is the Divine SL 80mm version, which is enough for XC racing. Everything else is pretty standard.
@@redcyclone3520 thanks. in pre covid years i feel like the course was less technical and in spring, dirt was more compacted. i ran a HT with a high post x-king 2.4/ race king 2.4 f/r and it was plenty in 2016-2018. the course was won on the climbs back then but i'm thinking this course is truly xc.
