Does the hinged area on the stack bolt down flat and seal well? It looks too tight on the hinge side and gapped on the other side. My ocd makes me not want this thing just because that looks so poorly designed.
It actually tightens and seals very well. To be honest the draw is so good you dont even really have to bolt it down - leaks are pretty much non-existent due to the weight and draw (I think). It is a bit of a pain in the butt to constantly tighten and loosen them so I usually just leave it up. I know some smokers have a locking clamp that makes it 10x easier to deal which would be a nice update in my opinion.

Love my 1975 wagon…wish I had the counterweight, purchased mine before this was an option…but also before they went up on the prices…was a 10 month wait but totally worth it!

Nice video. Looks delicious. From experience…salt doesn’t penetrate, it extracts moisture which intensifies the salt flavor. Not a big deal, just technical.
Appreciate you watching. I do believe the moisture comes to the service and then some retracts back into the meat with the salt. I'd need to do some more research on it again, but I believe my comment is accurate. :)

I have a 1975 - it's ok. But be warned - their customer service is non-existent. Once they have your cash, you're dead to them.
Really appreciate your video! You gave me courage to pull the trigger on one today! My layout and pockets couldn't fit the wagon, so I went with the fully loaded casters w assist door. Lol, I should have got the 69, but I just couldn't resist the door assist, I thought the style added to the 75. I, also called and confirmed the current 30 day lead time with a live person (answered right away BTW) so I hope they come through on it. Keep up the good work brotha! How was the shipping arrangement , Need a forklift on delivery?
I had it delivered from a local retailer on a low trailer and we rolled it right off. I’m honestly not sure how it comes directly from them, but I’d assume you don’t need a forklift.

Where did you buy a cover that allows you to keep the smoke stack up all the time?
I got it from www.coversandall.com/ but honestly they made it a bit of a headache and it wound up not fitting correctly. Still worked, but if you order make sure you dont go too crazy with the measurements they try changing it to. The quality is legit though!

Cowboy firebox is perfect for a reverse sear on a Cowboy ribeye or picana.
Did you get the clear coat wagon or the black wagon? It’s hard to tell the difference online so I’m curious your perspective on the different wagon options.
I got the raw steel, but if I had to choose again I’d probably get the black. It’s a little hard to re-season and the black would make it a lot easier to maintain.

Can you build a fire in the main smoke chamber if you want to grill more stuff than you can fit on the firebox grill?
It’s the same material and thickness of the fire box, so I assume you can grill in it. However the grates could warp and I’m not sure if there’s any negatives to doing this. I’ve never grilled inside a smoke chamber, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible.
I have an Englebrecht 1000 now, which is intended to be used this way. The main chamber has super-solid stainless rods and is designed for easy clean out of ashes. But the offset firebox is kind of small and and the chimney comes out the top, so it’s not an ideal smoker. I am trying To avoid having both a smoker and a grill though, so I have been using this for the past 9 years. It’s a great grill and a pretty good smoker

@@fattybuttsbbq someone else said the prices dropped but when I look, there’s a slight increase in the 1975w with door assist. Used to be able to get it for just under $5k and now it’s just over $5k.
Use toning plates for small cuts of meat or side dishes. Plus put fire brick side ways with a gap .

I have had my G2 for 6 months and have many cooks in now, and I have no regrets. It is an awesome smoker, and also probably the best smoker for a beginner if you have the budget for it.
It's really such a solid smoker and hard to beat for the price.
@@fattybuttsbbq im lookiing into getting a G2, it really looks impressive for the price point. one negative i hear is that since it consumes less fuel (which is good) that means the meat is lacking that smokey flavor to it since less wood is being burned. Can you address this? Is there some tweaks/mods one can do to impart more smoke if thats an issue?
@@bernardocantu77 I don't see this as an issue at all to be honest. You can just close the dampers down if you feel like the smoke flavor isn't really there. I think you get great smoke flavor from it. You can check out my beef back ribs video to see the smoke ring and whatnot. I wouldn't let that persuade you away from picking it up.
@@fattybuttsbbq cool! thanks for that. i will look at that beef back ribs vid. also are you having success keeping temps in the cook chamber at around 225 if needed? seems to be other people having this issue. but i figure messing with the damper might help. and obviously controlling how many splits and charcoal one uses.

Hmmm.. yeah that’s tough. I know they’re selling the counterweight separately. Maybe pick one up and have someone weld it on for you if it’s not something you can do?

I was looking at the Mill Scale 96 and the Arron Franklin Pit. Then I found the Workhorse in the others review. I purchased te 1975 and it should be here this week. does it matter if you use tallow of a cooking spry to season?. Thanks
Good move! Nope it doesn’t matter if it’s spray or not. I use the spray since it’s easier on the inside.
