Struggling to Fit a Window as an Attic Door, Italian house renovation

We are still new to filming ourselves and editing videos ,so please forgive us for any mistakes.
House is totally off the grid ,we generating power ourself , water is straight from the roof(if its raining).
Drinking water we buy in local shop.
If you like to watch us struggling while we do the renovation ,with zero knowledge of the Italian language, please consider subscription. You can follow us on instagram @our_italian_escape

wow! I was praying for you. Gret job.
I was also praying....and swearing a little
lovely!
Thank you, When we compare it to the plank, which we had before as countertop, it looks like a million dollars.
No subtitles.
Which part do you want to have translated? I will do subtitles for you.
@@our_italian_escape I am deaf. There are many people like myself. Subtitles help us.
Bellissimo piano cucina bravissimo ., anche le finestre buona continuazione
Grazie mille. Sono felice che ti piaccia.
Planirate li ograditi svoju zemlju?
Yes.we will be fencing . Just not now ,we need to at first earn some extra cash. Fence is expensive 😒
Love your kitchen counter and bottom, the tiles are beautiful! Tiled countertops look really good and are affordable too.
Great minds think similar way. Exactly. We could go to ikea, buy the cheapest kitchen ,but there is no charm, they look good but it's not this same.
Preglasna glazba, ne čujem Vas
Sorry,it was my first time editing attempt.
dislike music. It would be nice to have some silence for a least half the time
I know ,i know i apologized for loud music few times before. Cant do anything right now with this apart of deleting and re uploading again. but i won't do that as this is my first video and first attempt on editing video.Hope that this explains everything. You can watch other videos ,with time spend on it and gaining more experience i think that they are better.Regards
@@our_italian_escape i understood both your points. I just like to have a bit of peace and quiet while I'm watching. AS I said, some silence, or maybe natural sounds like the wind in the trees and birdsong. Good luck with your new life
@@afifasutherland8208 Very True
You did a fantastic job cleaning up that log burner. Can I ask have you got a quote for having a water well installed? Will a well guarantee you water all year round or do they dry up also?
Thank you. No i don't have the quote for well but i know the price for drilling a one meter. Our neighbour well is 80m meter deep and do not dry out in the summer.Price for one meter of drilling is 70 to 80 euro.Apart of that you need to have permission from local municipality to drill the well (and you need to also pay for permission ).
@@our_italian_escape wow that’s €6,400 for an 80 meter well?! Ok it’s expensive BUT if it means you never run out of water then I think it’s worth it. I love your videos and thank you for making them. I hope to move to Italy in a few years
Sometimes it is cheaper to buy the land with well than drill one.😂. If you can ,you need to move. It's a different lifestyle .
Can you help me find a similar property?
We could try, but for us it was long process . Took about 2 years to find property which was not ruined and in very good price. You can try on beginning by yourself . Just go to immobiliare.it and try to look for cheapest one in area which is interesting for you. We did exactly like that. Take care Toni.
I love Southern Italy. We always go to Roccanova in Basilicata a tiny little town that is the real Italy with the nicest people on Earth. Good luck with your house!
Couldn't agree more!
From Basilicata, thanks
Super, powodzenia 😊
Dziękuję! Cieszę się, że się podoba!
Your kitchen looks fabulous, your plastering is fantastic, I love the strimming parts of the video as well. Are your neighbours friendly? I want to move to South Italy before I’m 60. I’m 53 now and I’m a bus driver and I want to retire by 60 and have no stress in a nice house in South Italy . Thanks for these videos
Thank you so much for your kind words! The kitchen really is a labor of love. As for the neighbors, they’re lovely! We don't see them much as we are in the middle of nowhere. But every time when they drive by they waving and shouting hello.Wishing you all the best on your journey to South Italy-it is like a dream! But remember if you will be buying property in the south to check if there is the well .You have to have access to water all year round. We need to cut our stay short due to lack of water.
Nice project. Silence is nice too.
I bet it is. Not this time, though. 😅. It was my first time editing attempt.
That looks the same as the two fires we have, Hunter 80B. First one we got had a leak after a couple of years use. The got another which is great. Old one I repaired. Before you take it to Italy, pressure test the water jackets too 3bar, and leave test on for at least 24hrs. Very property and land you got, the woodland will keep the hunter fire fed, as they are hungry beasts
Thank you . We have already transported it to Italy. I'm not sure about the model. I was thinking that is hunter 14, there is no plate with any details. But now I'm in doubt.
The flue is 6” for 14, and 7” for the 80B, also How many grate bars do you have in your stove: 17 = Herald 8 or Herald 14 19 = Hunter 80B. Hope it helps identify the model.
@kenmann4698 flue is definitely 6 inches . I will need to check on video how many grates is there
The tiles on the countertop are really beautiful. The whole thing turned out very nicely. I can't wait for more videos!
Thank you so much. It was Ela idea to do the kitchen this way. I'm just labourer 😉
Just beautiful. Iam happy for you.
Thank you. Still lots of work but not enough time. Take care, Kristina.
Great job! Hard work and ingenuity will get you far when living off the grid! Bravo!
Thank you for your kind comment. We are doing our best. It's a bit hard right now with high temperatures and lack of rain. We will be struggling with water.
Conosci il canale UA-cam di THREE ACRES OF MARCHE ? È UN UOMO INGLESE CHE STA RISTRUTTURANDO UNA CASA DA LUI ACQUISTATA
Si,stavo gurdanto I suoi video.
Lots of land = lots of weeds, forever
@DonAntoniodetucum is true,but I love my weeds.👍
Where about sun Italy is the house?
We are about half hour drive from Avellino. 👋
Rodacy Polacy? Bueatiful place, good luck with the work as it needs some.
Yes we are. Thanks.
permaculture perennial food forest.. are there any properties near you that are similar in property size or a little bigger for around the same amount???
perennial food sounds good,we will be back in Italy in two weeks i can ask my neighbours (with google translate)if they know about anything for sale around
@@our_italian_escape hifive
We ask our neighbours if there is anything for sale around and yes it is few properties but nothing in the price which we paid.Best will be if you go to immobilare it and you search for home in Campania. There is a lot of homes with land.starting from £25k but for extensive renovation.
@@our_italian_escape thank you

Greetings from Toronto :). Love your house - what an amazing location. Looks like you found a little gem.
Thanks! I'd like to think we have a good eye for hidden gems...or maybe I just got lucky!
Sir I am interested but how it is possible?
Magic! Just kidding, it's all about hard work and dedication.
@@our_italian_escape I have enough money to buy this house but I am.l from India
im sorry but the house is not for sale
@@Feelalive1009there are so many houses in Italy with this price in South .
If you need glass for your stove, get it in the UK. I needed glass for a stove in Spain, €170!!!!!!
Will definitely buy one in UK, here are for £20 each.
New subscriber here from Ireland! 75 quid for that window is an absolute bargain! Did you say it is brand new? Where you get it?!! That boiler looks like one serious piece of kit as well. I’m sure with the back boiler in it will heat the house nice and toasty! Love your videos - thank you for making them.
Magic of the facebook market.Brand new and yes £75.Log burner was even better .....Thanks for subscription.
Why accelerated video?!! We can't see the important thing of this journey: landscapes.
There is no possibility to upload 24 hours long video on youtube. You can slow down video in the app. But the sound will be distorted.
Sorry for the music being too loud ,It was my first attempt in editing. Please turn off the sound and turn on subtitles. I promise to get better. You can check my progress in editing on the last uploaded video. Love you all❤
Music is fine for me - can I ask how you find this house? I want to move to southern Italy because I am working myself into an early grave here and property seems to be cheaper in south Italy - your house and land looks beautiful
@Oscartherescuedog first thing is codice fiscale. Is like national insurance number in italy. Without that, you can't buy anything in value in Italy. We were asked for it even when we bought a mattress for our bed. You can get it online or in ambasy. Then you can search for the house on immobilare.it or idealista.it,
good to acknowledge, I was about to comment the same.
@@100Noddy thank you for understanding.
music much too loud!
Im sorry, that was our first video, and first time to editing in my life
how much land did this come with??
We got just over 4 acres of land.
@@our_italian_escape that's awesome
Humidity. Dehumidify, fans. Nice home. Good luck to you
Thank you. No one has been living here for years. All windows and doors closed. Maybe with time and french drainage on the back of the hose will be better.
Hello-I’m enjoying your channel and looking forward to learning from your journey. Which province/area of Southern Italy are you in? Are you able to describe the buying process, especially the extra costs for taxes, legal et…? I’m considering doing a similar thing and I’m trying to understand everything that’s involved. Take care, and thank you from Ontario Canada.
To describe full process of buying this house, we will need to do another video. Which we will definitely do. We are in Avellino, (Campania). Taxes , notary and agency fees are considerable part of money, which you need to pay apart purchase price. Take care Steve.
Sono italiana .I am Italian France was beautiful once and now it is full of Middle Easterners filled by Macron. Unfortunately there are also in Italy but fewer. If someone lives in southern Italy he cannot expect certain things.Have a nice trip anyway
I'm really don't know how to respond to that 😐
Dig a French drain around the outside of the house (plenty of tutorials on UA-cam) It probably won't stop the damp completely, but it's a good start.
I was also thinking about that. At first we was thinking that is from heavily leaking (rusted) guttering . But I changed gutters all around the house and not much changed. Thanks for your idea.
Maybe built without damp proof course.@our_italian_escape
@rodjsy6363 that is also possible. When I changed pipes under the bathroom floor, there was no damp proof at all.
So where is it exactly?
Hi,we are a 30 minutes away from Avellino
@@our_italian_escape Thanks. I guess you bought that place for the land mainly. Right?
For the house. Land is the bonus
@@our_italian_escape Aha ok.. the other way around.
Wow. What a lovely place. Lucky you
Good luck with the renovation...it looks like a very good find.
Thank you,we will need that.
