Thanks so much. These videos are super helpful ❤
You are the best!❤ Could not have done it without your tutorials 🤗 Have a fantastic day!
@@lindalewis9829 Awww - you’re so kind! I’m so glad the videos have been helpful for you.
You are awesome. Thank you so much for each video I know it’s a lot of work I so appreciate all of your work!❤
You are so welcome!
This video is amazing! It is so helpful. Can you please (in the future) hold up the project so it can be seem at the completion of each row? I think that would really help me to see it more completely. TY!
@@user-ve2ou9cl1o Absolutely! I will do my best to remember to do that from now on. Thanks for the suggestion! I’m glad you found the video helpful.
Wonderful instructions and explanation as always.
If only In-N-Out offered bacon... thank you for the video! I'd be lost without these!
Well now I’m hungry! (And my closest In-N-Out is 1300 miles away, but now that’s what I’m craving!). You’re so welcome! I am so glad they’re helpful!
At 41:46, you are working the beginning of Row 5 after switching to the dark color. You say the first stitch is a p1, but that’s not written in the swatch instructions in the EFA MKAL. Those say: sm [and switch color], sl1wyib, *k1,… If I add the p1 there, will it mess up my count?
The swatch instructions are slightly different from the main project instructions (the video demonstrates the main project instructions). The main project version has an additional stitch at either end - just inside the edge markers - which is always purled on the RS and always knit on the WS. If you’re working the swatch while following the tutorial, just follow the written instructions and ignore the first stitch I work after the edge marker at the beginning, and the last stitch I work before the edge marker at the end.
You rock!!!! Love your tutorials. Make such a difference for me.
Thank you...that was helpful
Amazing tutorial! Thank you so much!
New crocheter could not have done it without your help, thank you.
Thank you 😊
Thank you for the video and for your time. I appreciate it. The videos help me visualize the pattern.
You’re welcome! I’m glad it was helpful!
Excellent! Couldn’t have done it without you!!! Thank you
I'm a crocheter, but because you have these videos out.... I will definitely give the knit year along a go! Thanks so much, you are much appreciated ❤
That’s awesome! I look forward to seeing your progress.
Thanks for the tutorials. Where can I get some of those stitch markers?
You’re welcome. Let me apologize in advance for sending you down this rabbit hole 😉 Scroll down for the Melody Clips available in silver, gold, and pastel rainbow colors (and no, I don’t get kickbacks for sharing, I just love their products!): twiceshearedsheep.com/collections/removable-stitch-markers-for-knitting-crochet
thanks so much!
You're so welcome!
Thank you so much for helping us along! It is so greatly appreciated ❤ Your tutorials are awesome!
Thank you so much for doing this! I'm still relatively new to knitting (skill-wise) and have a tendency to take on things a little more challenging than I should. And reading knitting patterns is still confusing to me sometimes. This really makes the pattern more understandable. I can't wait to continue my challenge!
Thank you for your videos! They are so helpful. What size hook are you using?
You’re welcome! I’m so glad they’re helpful for you. I ended up using a US6/G (4.0mm) hook to get gauge for this square.
I am kinda new to crocheting and am confused by the back post double and triple crochet when starting row 4. Can you show how you would start the row 4 using original stitch?
On row 9, you change hooks, what size do you change to? There is nothing in the instructions that show a size change.
Hi Tracey. I actually address this specifically in the Row 9 Introduction (which begins at 22:00 in the video). Yes, you are correct that there is no mention of changing hook size in the pattern. My suggestion for doing so was just a personal recommendation, and was offered specifically because I found that working the single crochet rows with the same hook size prevented those sections from blocking as wide as the other parts of the block. I just went up one hook size - I was using a G hook (US6 / 4mm) and went up to a US7 / 4.5mm - for the single crochet rows. I hope that helps!
@@writermomo4 Thank you so much! My apologies for missing the introduction, I guess that's what I get for skipping ahead. :-) Your videos are so helpful on this project, thank you again.
Thank you. That was very helpful.
For rows 29 and 30, should we bump up the hook size or keep it the same?
I stayed at the same size, since the single crochets are interchanged with larger stitches. At the same size, the fabric easily stretched to the correct width without feeling restricted like it had been on the single crochet sections.
Hi Jen, I appreciate all of your tutorials. Thank you.
Jennifer, thank you for your tutorials for MCAL clues, they are very helpful.
I'm so glad i found you. I'm still confused - am I slip stitching into the chain or the first stitch?
At the end of each round, you work two slip stitches. The first slip stitch will go into whichever stitch you began the round with - either slip stitch into the top of the chainless starting double crochet (csdc), or slip stitch into the 2nd chain if you began the round with a chain 3. *THEN* you slip stitch a second time around the chain space between the two puffs that began the round. This second slip stitch will move your yarn so your next round will begin in the corner each time. Does that make sense? I can definitely add a video showing that in more detail if it would help?
@@writermomo4 thank you, thank you. I think I got it now. 👍🏻
Jennifer I want to say a huge thank you for this tutorial. I wouldn't have jumped on this MKAL if you hadn't done this. Would you consider doing tutorials for the other clues too?? Pretty please!!!
By popular request, I am going to shoot a tutorial for each MKAL clue. I apologize that the first one (and possibly the second) wont be out before the contest deadlines for those clues. But it is my hope that starting with Clue 4, the remainder of those tutorials will be released closer to when the actual clue comes out. I’m so glad you’re joining us!!!
Please disregard my verbal flub at 1:08:35 (I said “Round 52” when I meant to say “Round 17”)
I would like to join the EF 2024 MCAL and have read the rules and agree to abide by them.
Thank you ❤
Thank you 🙏
Don’t know how I found you but thank you so much, I was ready to give up 🙏❤️ Bring on next clue 😝😝😝
Ditto what everyone is saying. I almost gave up on Clue two. Thank you for your help!!
What a lifesaver! I did notice how easily her hook went through the loops so I googled. Never knew of an "in-line" hook. So tried one of my old metal Susan Bates hook that looked like hers and was amazed at how easy it was to pull loops through compared to the more bulbous new ones. I certainly finally tamed the csdc stitch. Held my breath for last round and had about 3 feet of yarn left. Thank you Jennifer!!
You’re welcome! Yes, I absolutely swear by in-line hooks, especially if you tend to crochet tightly. Tapered hooks allow the loop that is around the hook to pull tighter than the actual hook gauge if you have any tension on your working yarn, which can make it very difficult to get into that stitch on the next row. I’m a huge fan of the Susan Bates hooks, which also have a slightly pointier “head” that helps get into tighter stitches as well.
You are a crochet goddess! Thank you for taking the time to save our sanity! ❤️❤️❤️
Aww.. You’re so kind. You’re most welcome!

You’re welcome!
You saved my sanity with this tutorial. Thx!
My pleasure! Glad it helped! (Sanity is important!!!) 😁
If it hasn't been stated too many times already - thank you, thank you, thank you! I got stuck on this clue as well and was just about to post an SOS on the forum.....then I saw a link to this tutorial. It was perfect! Exactly what I needed and very well done, even the little "oops" that happened (which seemed to coincide rather conveniently with my own mistakes!). Please know your efforts are greatly appreciated and were a huge stress reliever. With much gratitude, me. <3 🙂
You are so very welcome! i’m glad it was helpful!
Would be nice if this was explained in the pattern and we didn’t have to go hunt down a video when we’re used to doing a real eye cord instead of this mock eye cord
Thank you for making this video and showing how to make the first square for the Indivisible MCAL. I could not figure out how to do the start chainless dc. Your instructions made it so much easier. 😊
You’re welcome! I’m glad it helped!
Thx! Very helpful.

Thank you for this!! I wasn't going to try the i-cord edge. The instructions looked very confusing. This video made it so easy!!!
You’re welcome!!! I’m so glad it was helpful.
I just learn I can’t go by the legend. The dots keep changing from pearls and knits. That’s why my swatch didn’t look right.😂.
😂 Sorry about that. Yes, what the symbol means changes on the wrong side so the overall patterning shows up.
@writermomo4 it's going great now, halfway done with clue one
