Hello everyone, welcome to the channel for the Mitochondrial Innovation Initiative!
We feature podcasts and talks, bridging the gap between patient advocates and researchers- from our research-centred mitoPodCast, to our community centred mitoVOICE, to our symposium and conference highlights!
The mitoPodCast is a new interview program featuring guests in our community involved in cutting-edge projects in the fields of mitochondrial medicine and research as well as those involved in amazing advocacy initiatives!
Watch the mitoPodCast to learn more about the exciting work of members in our community, their future directions, what is needed to responsibly accelerate the drug development process, and why bringing together diverse voices is so important to coming up with solutions that improve the lives of patients.
Thank you to the University of Toronto and the Connaught Fund for their support in making the mitoPodCast possible!

Dr Picard gives authoritative possibility for true health, by unveiling the possibility of the type of change mitochondria can make. Schizophrenia is exposed to me as a political bin.
how do mosquitoes know to bite you right in the center of your back so you can't reach them with your hand? That's pure genius.
when he said genetically same mice in litter - I had a flashback to my animal caretaker job at the biomedical center at University of Wisconsin-Madison. That was over 30 years ago.
Admiring the insightful discussions on leveraging mitochondria biology for kidney rehabilitation pre-transplantation. A promising glimpse into the future of organs health and mitochondria transplantation! 🌟
She's reading and it's a turnoff
... as a German Biochemist Ph D - my son hanged himself some weeks ago in the forest close to his apartment. He was „Bi Polar“ from Childhood Infancy on - and it blocked him from growing up into mature adulthood. I tried to show him All the TOOLS and trainings to find ways to Balance himself he was utmost Therapy Resistant. And mastered the skills to hide his inner world... This personal experience points to me we need much deeper understanding and ways to balance those persons - who have all the chances to have a wonderful Life as All Life is a Miracle and most precious in the universe. I promote Inner Strength Training for ALL of us - to be able to deal with any situation hitting us from nowhere - for no reason as Life is major Chaos... for me personally as a Biologist and Scientist - no form of any Suicide is ever acceptable. No matter how BAD it is. Suffering is a sign to show so much more compassion, empathy and LOVE...
Great talk, thank you! :)
It's very interesting to watch Homo Sapiens "genetic bottleneck", because of "genetic drift", which happened, and now epigenetically they breed offspring who experience "backward evolution", visible as "social degeneration" and causing "societal collapse" to their own societies. There is nowhere to go. We all in this together. Stay home. Love your neighbours. All lives matter.
Superb job
Is there indication of actual mitochondrial function actively releasing wavelengths of measurable light, that then is used in other functional ways for mitochondrial bioenergetics?
Such fascinating emerging knowledge of vastly complex system! Great explorations!
How might the lab environment, say in artificial light exposure, affect the bioenergetics of the mitochondria in different brain regions, differently than in daylight light energy inputs (or in mouse habitual darkness behavioral environment)? Sure, that is adding a huge number of variables, but I'm concerned about how wavelengths of different light, entering different depths of the brain tissue alter electron transport chain functionally. Does, blue -light dominant lab light already adversely affect mitochondrial energy functionality, at quantum biology levels that ultimately will need careful study?
SWAGGER😍
Im your biggest fan yo
Damn bro mitchondria powerhouse of the cell and allat
SO AWSOME
Hi Burelle big fan girlie xoxo
keep it up bro
Woah sooo cool
Preach Picard!! ❤❤❤
All women, one token man
I wish I could have had this done in different years: after being molested, left Air Force, all the bad things that happened to me. No wonder I left Florida. One day this will be available for living brain tissue to prove damage when stressors are unbearable. Now how do you compensate?
You want a stressor: take a Respiratory therapist, chronically stressed by: nursing, codes, short staffed and demanding number of patients.
Michael Levin is doing crazy stuff with flat worms and ion channels .. collectives intelligence that starts with cells
The First 5 minutes are a waste of time
It’s me ____, now here’s ____ who has accomplished ____ research at ____ university: Hi it’s me ___, now here’s the speaker you came for
Not sure how much audio quality plays into this, but her intonation isn't promoting comprehension, nor has the audience in mind, on the contrary. Sorry to say. Appreciate the head-sup on G4s!
You forgot to mention that it is dietary sugar (fructose/sucrose) which disrupts the mitochondrial function through several mechanism. It increases oxidative stress, inhibits some enzymes needed for the Krebs-cycle to function properly and inhibits mitophagy which over time leads to defective mitochondrias. We already know the cause. It's time to ban the sugar and promote meat and animal food!!!
How wonderful ❤❤!!! Want more likes? -> Promo>SM!
The brain is the extension of your guts, probiotics and your guts simply form a symbiosis relationship.
Miss Guo jinghua , please calm down. You got too excited from what you saw in your lab. That’s old news. 😂
Each cell types correlates different mitochondria type. or .. each cell type molds mitochondria to fit in its hosting cell ??
Mitochondria evolve faster, much faster than their hosts due to a much faster life cycle. They evolve within the constraints of their host cells. There are slow and fast evolutionary forces acting on mitochondrial survival, within the host and survival to propagate to a new developing host. I think you need to switch perspectives faster, host centric? Mitochondria centric? The Krebbs cycle just confused me at college but its only part of the function. There is so much future study in this and I am waiting for it to mainstream.
suggest Nick lane lectures on the Kreb cycle
The real question is whether mitochondrial malfunction leads to these illnesses or if it's the other way around -- the illnesses cause mitochondrial malfunction.
Dr. Christopher Palmer's book Brain Energy addresses this. Great read!

Hey guys!! Great Podcast and great video!! We are currently filming a report/self experiment about bettering the brain functionality, would you mind if we used part of that video as an explanation sequence in that film (including an indication of source of course - but shortened and translated into German)? Is there any way I could contact you? Kind regards and have a wonderful day
Hi, thank you for asking! All of our contact information can be found at the bottom of our website page at www.mito2i.ca/ Please feel free to email and inquire further. All the best! - the MITO2i Team
