2016 250 Honda RECON tapping

I replaced the bottom end crankshaft because someone ran it low on oil. So the bottom is tight but I noticed the Piston shirt had wear on it and the cylinder has wear near the bottom . Will this wear make this tapping sound ?

My restored 1984 honda 200es big red , Brookport Illinois. I will be making a 1987 atc 200x restoration very soon. I am in the prosess of colecting nos parts for this model.
Mines does not jack up at all i pull it up and wont stay up either
What kind of oil do I use
you are seriously my hero
Thank you so much
Awesome after years i finally fixed my table following this videos instruction and it worked!!!! Do as he says do not follow the hf instructions it wont work properly and lower itself
Can you do a new video on this please? It's kind of confusing when you're talking about doing this and doing that and adding just a little bit of this... and not seeing any of these things happen when you're talking about them.
Thank you I got a welded gear shift too. Now I can fix it
Thanks
I bought the 500lb table and had the problem of the table not going down when the handle was squeezed. Being familiar with hydraulic pumps and rams, I did not read their instructions on bleeding, merely added fluid and bled the air out. But the table would barely creep down when the handle was depressed. Me and a friend picked the table up and placed it on my workbench. I put the table up and locked the release handle to the full down position. Next was to check how far the swivel mechanism was depressing the plunger when the handle was depressed. I then pushed a common screw driver between the swivel and plunger and levered the plunger further down. The table top started coming down at a very nice rate. I then adjusted the cable ends to the extreme out position and the top comes down at a rapid rate (just fast enough for me). I have also heard (and experienced) about models with the rubber plug on the oil fill being extremely hard to get back in. When I had the table on the bench, the plug was removed and the level checked. Afterwards I took some sandpaper and rounded the very bottom edge where in would just fit in the hole. As I was reinstalling the plug, I noticed inside the whole there appeared to be two of three threads. I then put the plug into the hole and instead of trying pushing it in, I screwed it in and it went right in with no hassles. I think the manufacturer would have a lot less returns if they would just go over possible problems in the manual (and have an english speaking engineer write them), as most are easy fixes. Of course you are paying for it to perform properly out of the box, but, in many cases fixing small problems are easier that a return and possible wait for another one.
How about the 350 model
You done saved me a lot of time and money brother.
I have a 250 recon es lost 5th all other gears work ....gear any ideas ?
My release cable broke. Any idea how I can fix this
Remove the cable and pull the wire from the housing. Go to a small engine shop with the wire and buy new wire. Ace may also carry the same gauge wire. Put the wire back through the housing and reattach to the lift. The wire and housing a common stock at shops that use them.
What did you use to remove the pins on the table top? Can’t seem to get mine off.
Have one at my shop we have been working with today that sounds exactly like this after a fresh top end rebuild, cylinder was oversize bored at a local machine shop i believe now that they have too much piston to cylinder wall clearance. Thanks for the video it helped me out.
What is the part number for that
This worked for me but I didn't take the table off. Thank you 😊
Will this also work for 2005 trx250te the electric shift model and if so do you know part number for shaft
Awesome 😊
Thank you for saying the instructions for bleeding are wrong! I suspected the same. Bought one of these new and it says to bleed it before use. It also squeaked pretty bad when jacking up, so I figured to bleed it. I followed the instructions, but the table wouldn't lower afterwards. To my chagrin, I pushed down on the table, which lowered it, but popped the rubber filler bolt out and sprayed hydraulic fluid all over the cart and my garage floor as well! Doh! Seems to me these shouldn't be filled up all the way, only add a small amount. My cart works fine now and no longer squeaks when jacking it up, as it did out of the box.
Mine is new and it won’t raise now I think it’s full of air. I will use this video to bleed it. Thank you, much appreciated!🙏😊😁
Just got this yesterday. (9-28-23) Assembled it according to instructions and pump the foot pedal and ….nothing. Pumped it 60+ times. Nothing. Lifted the table up by hand and it goes about 1/2 way up and no further I’m going to try this method tomorrow. First I have to go to the hardware store to get hydraulic fluid and I think I’ll get a rubber sealing washer for that screw too.
How did it turn out when you did these things?
Thank you, brother
can you demo lifting the atvs
Did you add the screw to the fluid fill hole or did it come that way ? - They usually have the rubber plug.
Just picked one up yesterday and it has a black screw. I've been using it out of the box and haven't bled or added any hydraulic fluid. Seems to work fine with the exception that the table won't lower without some weight on it. (pushing on it by hand works although slowly)
What if the Table only goes up half way....do I bleed it a couple of times hoping it will go higher after the first bleed ...? 👍
great video. Do you know if this will work on a 2007 trx 250? thanks
Yes it will
What about fix the rapid table drop issue
There is an adjustment on the cable for the lever
YES!! YES!! YES!! This was the video I've been looking for. My table lift has been out of commission for 3 months and I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it. I just did as instructed in your video and it's working again! Thank you!
do you mind showing the location of the bolt i just fixed my trx250ex up on my channel but the shifter shaft is vibrating out so i was looking to find something on the retaining bolt i have a single bolt missing behind the shifter on the back of the plate im sure its that but i like to see before messing with things
Very helpful. I used the bleeding instructions that came with the unit (i.e. fill the cylinder when the table is up) and the table wouldn't lower. This makes much more sense.
excellent video. that was the trick. 24mm socket head needed for that big bolt to come out on my model. be careful as there is a spring and I assume small parts that can shoot out. Also, put a pan or at least a cardboard box underneath to capture the spilled jack fluid. trust me, you will need it. IF you do not take off the table top, secure it with a rope, or it may fall and take off your fingers.
Great video! Ive been fighting shifter on a honda 250ex since the engines are almost identical. I think gearing maybe diffrent. Do you know if this is the sane way on them? Thanks
Exactly the same engine as a TRX250TM Recon.. so this method will work the same
Ok thanks, appreciate the video!!! Do you need it to be in neutral or gear?
Mine doesn’t have a screw, it’s a rubber plug
Exactly. That’s the main problem that everyone is havin
You have the 500 lb not the 1k
@@TylerBigHead mine is 1000#
@@clintwilliams2705 weird ive only seen the rubber on the 500
@@TylerBigHead my 1000 lb had a rubber stopper and I returned it .
Thank you worked out great 👍
What gear do you have it in when changing out the spindle ?
I had it in Neutral but it doesn't matter if it's in gear or not
This is an 03 right? Cause if it is buddy you just saved my bacon. See mine has the splines broken off and it was ground down and has a socket welded to the shift lever and try as I may I can’t get the mf to stay on. I’ve tried shims, jb weld, epoxy, and nothing worked. So I’ve deduced the only way I’m gonna keep it on there without any adhesive or welding is to just swap the shaft. Fingers crossed on this one I ain’t got the skill or the know how to split the case and be able to put it back together. And the electric shift doesn’t work either the wire rusted and broke off so I can’t shift it at all and it’s stuck in reverse right now and I can’t start it or get it into neutral to be able to start it again. I was told it was an 03 but I can’t tell there’s anything on it to verify that. Any help would be very greatly appreciated you seem to really know your stuff about recons
In the video I was working on a 05 Recon.. your 03 will be the same.. Do exactly as I described in the video.. you must lay your bike on it's side and remove the 10mm retaining bolt..SLOWLY pull out the old shaft. Then slide in the new one with the dot on the end of the shaft facing up. Make sure it's in all the way then reinstall the 10mm retaining bolt.
I have a 2000, and each time I look up the shifter shaft it shows a lever made in the other end. I just don't see how this could work with it. Can you tell me if it's the same and if so maybe send me the link for the part ?
@@messiahsmisfit7973 it won’t. For those the case has to be split
Did you figure out noise? I bought a 2000 rancher that already had a Niche cylinder installed and have a simlar sound. Read the niche pistons were to small.
The problem is the niche brand..too much clearance..you need to either go OEM Honda or just try another brand of aftermarket cylinder kits. Here is a good low price cylinder kit I use: www.ebay.com/itm/184778109786?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=w2be1wpqrlc&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Hg8p6leOQVy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@@hondaatc1987 Yeah I am searching for a OEM cylinder, I pulled the rancher apart and the piston is so loose in the bore it wobbles around.
Hello, thank you for the video, I am about to buy a Dynamo HS-1 cabinet fully working and 100% restored... hence I am not too sure if it would be a good idea to modify it in order to get install/setup a mame pc or get a pandora setup and install a 20" lcd monitor... may I ask what lcd monitor you used? Also would love to see a video or pics of your family member's final cabinet... I think laminated overlays and side panel artwork is the way to go. Thank you! Tony
Steven can you tell me how to hide the carriage bolts for the joysticks so that they don't show up top?
It's strange, the piston fit tight.. barley could get the feeler gauge in at .004 between the piston and cylinder but still made this metallic sound you hear in the video. I installed another aftermarket cylinder and piston and it sounded like new.
It's not the timing chain, I had it completely apart..At idle there is no rattles, just when I give it gas and when it's under load ..
Hey there Steven, Can you please answer me this question and it's about the Dynamo cabinet. Ok I have a Dynamo and I was changing a game board out of it and when I was done the wooden sliding board must got of track because it doesn't slide up and down and now it's stuck. I tryed pulling it up but nothing happens and now the control panel won't latch up so it's hanging down. It's like the sliding board is above the track because the two hook latches that keep the sliding board from moving in underneath and it made a loud noise like it got stuck below. Do I have to remove the control panel or what to fix this problem?
@@vanderloo1978 I finally figure out that one of the latches were stuck on the side and the sliding board went to far up that the board went off track so one of the latches was under the sliding board so I had my friend figured it out for me. I appreciate for writing back and I love the Dynamo cabinets and this is the first machine that ever did this before so yeah I was like wtf. lol :)
Did you ever resolve the issue. Mine sounds the same.
Yes I figured it out.. the Piston and cylinder was wore and had play, so what you hear in the video is the Piston slapping. I installed a new Piston and new cylinder.. sounds perfect now
Hey Steven. Hope you're doing well... Sorry this comment is actually with regards to Costochondritis and the BackPod. I saw your comment on Steve's video. Are you 100% cured from Costo? How bad was your costo and did the BackPod fix it? Please let me know. Kind regards.
I'm not cured, but the backpod is doing it's job.. got to stick with it
The front fender big red sticker is for a 250es, just saying but nice build man!
Thanks! It did turn out to be a nice 200ES and I have mt 1987 ATC200X all done, it is in near perfect condition with a ton of NOS HONDA parts and it is all OEM . I will be uploading it in the next few days! I think everyone will drool over it ,it is not out of the crate condition but it is r verrrrrrry nice and damn close with NOS , seat fenders tires, even the 23.5x8x11 OHTSU original front tire. NOS engine hangers , NOS front forks ETC.
Holy shit dude that is so awesome Did it kick ass job.. On your project
Your missing Your reflectors and mud-flaps (; , i just picked up a 200e atc chain drive for 300$ and it's mint, Only bad about it is the fork seals went in it before i bought it and all of the fluid is out of my shocks but i plan on getting those restored.. But mine has NOT a crack in any plastic and still has the original reflectors on it! Amazing deal cant wait to start riding .
Neat video. Thanks for sharing your ATC with the interested community. Just bought an '84 Big Red and plan to restore and ride - although it needs little.
