Hello and welcome to a game of “Who’s that Pokémon?” Except with a little twist. Instead of Pokémon, you will be trying to guess a bird species based on the given silhouette. You only have to guess the species name rather than the full name, so for example, with this silhouette, you can just say duck rather than Mallard duck. But if you wanna test your luck with guessing the full name correctly...

In the arid landscapes of the Southwest, the Phainopepla stands out as a striking avian presence when it takes to the skies. The males exhibit a sleek, black appearance, complemented by a graceful crest and striking white patches on their wings that are visible during flight. The females sport a more understated gray hue. Found primarily in desert washes, these glossy birds primarily feed on mi...

10 Birds That Sound Like Aliens
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
In 2012, a NASA spacecraft made the clearest record yet of choruses of noise in the Earth’s magnetosphere. The chirps and whoops were captured by one of NASA’s two launched Radiation Belt Storm Probes, whose mission was to understand space weather to a greater extent. Sometime after, Craig Kletzing, the experiment principal investigator, joked that his wife calls it alien birds. Thanks for the ...

5 Interesting Facts About the American Bittern (Call, Sound, Song, Neck)

Only the sharpest of eyes catch sight of an American Bittern. This streaky, brown and buff heron can materialize among the reeds, and disappear as quickly. These stealthy carnivores stand motionless amid tall marsh vegetation, or patiently stalk fish, frogs, and insects. It has a Nearctic distribution, breeding in Canada and the northern and central parts of the United States, and wintering in ...

Thank you so much. This was fabulous information. We just found one in the mailbox on her property. Yay.
Pigeons are one of the few animals that have managed to adapt to human urbanisation they deserve more respect for their intelligence
Super cool bird! I love watching your videos and drawing the birds in them :) I always learn something new too
That’s awesome! I’d love to see your drawings sometime!
Where was this? Really hoping to photograph a scoter this year. I’m in Galveston
Texas city!
Pigeons are the bird version of the Mayfair !! 🎉
Any advice to draw in a pair of Eastern Screech Owls to nest in my backyard?
Wow . I recently moved to Tennessee and heard my first mockingbird... I began talking to it-telling him how talented he was. thought i was flattering myself- thinking his pausing while I spoke, then continuing to sing- were merely coincidental. But now he comes every afternoon. So l'm not crazy? I really have a bird friend! Thanks guys😊
White bell bird is just lip syncing with siren
I Iike the look of the turkey vulture and understand they are endangered. I am looking for a property where I can build a habitat for them and take the dead animals I find on the roads to attract them and then feed then as I collect more. I was once visiting a friend who raised turkeys for market. he would often find a dead one in his barn which was taken out back to the incinerator. and as you know you don't fire it up until you've collected a few. Many times he would have to chase away the vultures so he could clean up. That's where I hatched my idea. Now all this happened 10 years ago so I've had lots of time to plan and look for the right place. I know that even when I get started it will take some time before my dream is realised. along the way I still have much to think out.
nice
No New Zealand Tui?
I saw one today and a dead bird so I was like oh never seen a vulture before
Ive noticed a couple in my yard and I was curios what it was because it sounds like a weird radar
Can these guys make a cartoon snoring/snoozing sound? If so, apparently we have one in our front yard.
Wait a second could humans have evolved from a scavenging primate???
Thanks. You nailed the key point: air bubbles push upwards so are not wanted for this deep diver
I enjoyed this video very much ! Extremely informative. I live in central florida and have been for the last 25 years . I live on a large lake and just thus year the black bellied whistling duck has shown up . I have seen about four pairs have babies thus season! We thoroughly enjoy watching them in my yard and hope to see them again in seasons to come.
Thanks for enlightening us! We just saw the Eastern Screech Owl at Lee Martinez Park in Fort Collins. They're just beautiful. New subscriber here. Thanks!!
My pleasure! Thank you for subscribing :)
This guy was visiting the salt water marsh near my place last week. I called him on Bluetooth speaker. What an experience as it showed interest
That last fact makes me sad 😢
I did NOT expect that call lol
I got one visiting my lake all summer 2024 in NE MS.
Thank you! Very informative. I have feeders and bowls of water in my yard and this guy recently started showing up and I've been trying to figure out what it is😄🐦
Cormorants and Shags are 2 distinct birds. The Shag is smaller and has a distinct green iridescent hue (purple on the wings) on it's Black feathers. Also it has a crest in it's head at mating time. The Cormorant doesn't have these distinctions.
I have these all around my house (SE Colorado) in the summer. They live in the elm trees in my yard and are awesome to watch.
How do you know pigeons are easy to impress? They kept saying "cool".
A very educational, informative video, thank you!
I love pigeons and I really wish I had one sometimes lolz
Mobile Alabama city of, poisoned all 100% percent, now no birds a TV, down town park to feed pigeons.
There are quite a few in Katy TX, just outside of Houston. Ive seen a whole bunch together in Sealy, TX
I wanted to let you know what a terrific video on the Eastern screech owl. Last night I was outside working on a motion light changing its bulb when I heard something that i believe I may have heard one other time in my life but that was in Northwest Florida between the Gulf Seashores and Alabama border in a smaller neighborhood east of Pensacola Florida named Pea Ridge which I reckon is part of the city of Pace, Florida; that owl I saw years ago in the the summer of 2019 was most likely not this kind of owl because it was a huge owl to which the likes that most have never seen which was the Largest Owl I or most people in the world have ever witnessed. Ok back to the Eastern Screech Owl to which I believe was in out front yard tree branch to which i didnt exactly recognize the sound but my first thought was some kind of owl and then I shined my flashlight towards it and my second guess was it was really small from when I think of a Owl it was more like the size of a younger Pigeon and I couldn't see the front side face area but what i could see it looked white with grey so I wasn't sure what I had saw. Luckily the sound was caught on our security video from when I was outside so i sent to a amateur birder in my family and she immediately thought it was some sort of Screech owl so in looking up the sounds of them I found a video that all but confirmed it was the Eastern Screech Owl and then I had to watch a video all about them which I watched yours and greatly enjoyed your presentation. At the end of your video there is a Park that you are walking thru which looked alot like Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve in Southlake, Texas so i wasnt sure but then i looked thru your other videos that may let me know if you happened to film your Owl video here in Texas and to my delight your video about the 2020 Texas freeze and and resulting power outages which I gotta say another swell video that reminded of my family's time then and now missing a member who was here then hit me in the "feels" if that makes any sense, Rest in Peace to those before us that deserve it, woe to the others. In watching the power outage/freeze video it sounds like you are in south Texas from what I heard so unless you happened to be in my area of the state for your Eastern Screech Owl video then I have to assume the Nature Park was just built similarly which makes sense after all it in the same state so it very conceivable that a nature park reserve would look allot alike. Lastly wevrecieved a new animal family during that Late Winter 2020 which was a Blessing by the Great Creator. I will say you have been blessed with a great narrative skills and I believe a unique love of animals so when you can I recommend you make more of these Informative videos that will help others learn about the wonderful world of animals or really any subject you enjoy. Thank You, JW in DFW P.S. 1. Sorry about the book. 2. Will you let me know where that park is in the video please? Godspeed young man!
You do not have to go to the southeast to find these birds. They have nested well in Wichita, KS. Started about 2011 and have multiplied
So I'm holding a baby right now. No mom anywhere to be found. He made it past all 3 of my cats!! What to do with him? We're on day two...
Nice as my state bird I love it.
You left off the Painted Bunting. They used to come to my feeders every spring.
Thanks for this channel!
What a great video, very informative and detailed ❤
Thanks.
Have you had any problems with the plywood base delaminating in the weather over a period of time?
Nice list. But it’s the rose-ee-et Roseate Spoonbill
Love this video, please come back!
I've had three pigeons come find me when they were ill, They must put the word about, I'm not even joking either, how else would the others know?
I live in southern Illinois. There are 5 maybe 6 that soar above my yard. I have a big bird bath that is usually full of many different species. They have stopped coming since the Kites appeared. I love all birds but these guys have really disputed things around here. 🤷
Thet get eaten by alligators too.
Thanks to your video I just identified the couple that hangs in our backyard at dusk 🤗. Thank you! 🦉❤️
I love mourning doves so much. I didn't know about the seed storing, explains some rather plump doves I've seen. 😂 Thanks for a great video!
Are those the calls of the purple Martin females, I always thought they were more high-pitched than this? Must be the males?
yay! this is what I saw today! i knew it! thank you! I sub’ed
I’ve heard these will kill newborn calves
I'm glad I found your channel. The Limpkin was the first of your videos I watched. I live in northwest Alabama (Muscle Shoals) and I spotted one of the Limpkins in one of our many wetland areas here. I was pretty proud of that photo!🙂
