what is the difference between plane in column picture and the coefficient matrix

This is because adding one equation to another is an elementary row operation that preserves the solution set of the system. This demonstrates an important principle in linear algebra: while certain operations may alter the representation of a system, they don't necessarily change its fundamental solution. Let me explain this with a concrete example: ## Example System Consider this simple system of equations: ``` Equation 1: 2x + y = 4 Equation 2: x - y = 1 ``` When we add equation 1 to equation 2, we get: ``` Equation 1: 2x + y = 4 New Equation 2: 3x = 5 (after adding) ``` ## What Changes **Planes in Row Picture** - Original plane 2: x - y = 1 - New plane 2: 3x = 5 The second plane has changed to a different orientation. **Column Picture** The column vectors remain exactly the same: $$ \begin{pmatrix} 2 \\ 1 \end{pmatrix}x + \begin{pmatrix} 1 \\ -1 \end{pmatrix}y $$ **Coefficient Matrix** Changes from: $$ \begin{pmatrix} 2 & 1 \\ 1 & -1 \end{pmatrix} $$ to: $$ \begin{pmatrix} 2 & 1 \\ 3 & 0 \end{pmatrix} $$ **Solution** The solution (x = 1, y = 2) remains unchanged, as adding equations is a valid elementary row operation that preserves the solution set.

@@fodoai For the Equation 2x-y if you solve/replace the x and y values with 1 and zero you get coordinates as (0.5,2) and (0,0). To elaborate even more if we solve the equation and replace x and y values with zero you get coordinates (0,0) and if we solve the equation and replace x and y values with 1 we get coordinates (0.5,2) where as you mentioned (1,2)

@@madunishant6052 in equation 2x-y = 0 can be written as y = 2x, now when you will put x = 1, y = 2. therefore (1,2) lies on the line 2x - y = 0. (0.5, 2) does not satisfy the equation 2x-y = 0.
