When is there gonna be another classic Trans Am race?
All-American cars: that's the way it's supposed to be!!!
Yup very nice cars
good of the camera man to carry that commentator!
Mr. Bob Varsha.
Whoever videotapes racing always picks up the one and two drivers this is ridiculous
Aah - memories - the very first car I owned was a 1968 Datsun 1600 (as the 510 was called) here in Australia). I enjoyed driving it immensely! To see so many of them racing puts a HUGE smile on my face Thanks for showing!
where do I go to find out about the cars, how fast are they, what did they do to the engines, suspension changes etc.
Yenko just hoppped up the engines and lowered them. No suspension changes. All factory GM components
@@flat6586 thanks, I'll tell my engine to get hopped too?!!!
I surprised that an old pro like Pickett would over run that left hand kink and end up in the grass.
The winning white sports racer is a car built by Jon Staudacher for SCCA DSR class. Carbon fiber bodywork and wings and all hand built chassis and suspension by Jon with a 1000 cc motorcycle 4cyl engine. He designed and built 5 or 6 of these cars for himself and sold them to finance the next one.
Recently discovered TA2 and am gutted they're not at Gateway for '25. I get it, though. Those stands were packed 😔 more people need to know about TA series
Can't hear the cars.
The car was not boxy, in fact it had a cd of .23, which was lower than a Corvette at the time.
Fella in the Javelin doesn't know how to drive.
I’ve become a major fan of vintage racing. NASCAR just doesn’t appeal to me anymore. Just “PIT” the leader and take the lead. I have seen little actual “racing “ anymore. THESE HISTORIC races are great‼️‼️ 🚗🙂
Steve Schardt getting after it in Chevy Corvair Yenko Stingers, Awesome!
The NP01 falls under the names of both Elan and Sebeco. It's an unwanted child, with new parents.
Congratulations Peter and DDPR!
Another great weekend at the SpeedTour COTA weekend. I attend this series every year and it just gets better while retaining the grassroots, fan-friendly attitude with the open paddock and being able to wander in and out of the garages. Thanks SVRA! I'll be back next year!
Love it!! My oldest son in his early twenties loves Corvairs and Stingers!
My neighbor is number 39 🤙
Great racing, a tribute to when you could identify with the race car's
5:06:43. Awesome young man. Very good driver and very humble and respectful. I've raced with him in some endurance events, and his persona is 100% sincere. Genuinely a good guy, and if you know his family, you know where he gets it.
6:53:08 This comment is meant more for encouragement than negativity. Camera people, watch a race video or two to observe that incidents are important to follow with the camera for the benefit of viewers. A moment after the time stamp at the beginning of this comment reflects a perception that the camera person thought: "Oh, something happened to that car. Oh, well, let's find the person still on the track.". No, that's not the SOP. In other news, this was a Hell of a fun weekend of racing at VIR.
Well, nevermind. Apparently, the camera persons have been asked to "cut away" from action on the track. Excellent choice. Tequila all 'round. For those in The States who have no comprehension of verbal irony, this is sarcasm. It is not an excellent choice to "cut away" from action on the track.
Need the whole race
Buzzin Half dozen, these are awesome!!! In car clips of both 6 and 8 cyls are a bonus Great vid man I cant believe how well those corner and still haul azz down the straight Love to see one up close and see what changes were made. This is a giant go cart! As much as I love building 1/4 mi stuff Id love to grab a corvair and make it handle like a slot car instead!
This was a staged & pre planed procession Race but still entertaining
I raced both a 510, and a 1200, in SCCA: my completely subjective, absolutely unexpurgated opinion is… This is some of the best racing ever!
34:01
The most important part of this event (Saturday), after Trans Am, are the classic cars, those that competed on the track (SVRA) and those that were at the auto show (Hagerty Cars & Caffeine). I don't understand why after the shots that were taken when they were going to go out on the track (1:12) they did not show absolutely anything of the Hagerty Cars & Caffeine classic cars rolling around the circuit. I don't understand, it must be because the cars don't have sponsors and VIR prefers to put anything, even still images, instead of putting someone without a sponsor.
Very incompetent narrator that doesn’t know the name of the driver s.
Bob Tulius in his Pontiac Tempest won the inaugural TA race in 1966 and then won the first race of the 1967 TA season.
These were the best trans am cars ever. I think they should come up with a racing series where you build the same type of race cars out of restoration or reserection cars with better braking and handling and correct year motors with a little leway towards aftermarket parts in place of hard to find pricey originals and call it the mad Max series
I guess these are all small block V8s around 300 ci with 4 speeds and drum brakes? All wonderful cars, mechanics, and drivers. Thanks to all.
305 WAS THE CUBIC INCH LIMIT. I WISH THEY WOULD BRING IT BACK JUST LIKE IT WAS.
I watched all these cars race in the 1960s and 1970s on many West Coast race tracks. The Minis and Cortina GTs were kings. Alfas were fast too. Then came the Datsun 510s. There was a very fast VW Beetle with 356 Porches running gear. A stock Ford Lotus Cortina GT was a fast car. All I watch is vintage racing.
GR8 vid! Seeing that many Yenko Stingers was fabulous. Many thanx to cast & crew 👍👍
love how the cars sound. the videos could use a leader board or banner something showing driver and car class position, and lap counter,
Wishing the McLaren will come back!
Those drivers are not just cruising around. Great vintage racing!
That's me again at 2:26:21-2:26:35 and 4:53:54-4:58:58 at the turn looking at the front straight.
2:35:05-2:36:11 That's me in the background after the race.
The are driving like old ladies, pretty boring
What speed are they running at?
Try to imagine a 21st century Corvair!
America’s Porsche!
Boxer 6 before Porsche
A ‘63 Monza was my first car. I always thought they were ahead of their time. I always wanted a ‘66 Corsa after the ‘63 Monza. One of those dreams never realized. Always a fan bc as a former owner, I know what great potential they had, but gm promoted the Camaro instead.
Awesome Race to watch live, highly recommend!
Pirelli tires suck...just ask Adam!
It would be nice during the Trans race on the leaderboard if the different classes of races were in different colors on the leaderboard
Sebring!! Our team races in TA2
