ABOUT THE SONG: This song is a response to a few popular Sabahan songs.
Sumandak Idaman ('The Girl of My Dreams') follows a guy's story where he goes “merayau-rayau” (wondering around) in search of his dream girl. He has been around the whole world but has not found any as lovely and as perfect as the one he found in his beloved Sabah.
She is “paling lawa” (the most beautiful), “sangat pandai” (very intelligent), “memikat hati” (charming) and can cook “bukan nasi saja” (more than just rice). Even though he was really really ‘miskin’ (poor) it doesn't deter him from “cari duit” (earning money) abroad to be used for her “berian” (dowry) and 2 “Karabau” (buffaloes) as customary in most Sabahan cultures.
Even though he “jauh merantau” (travelled afar), his heart wants to go home to the land “bawah bayu” (below the wind) as there is no other beauty like “Sumandak Idaman”.
Truly none compares to the one that is in Sabah.
