A thing that I like about the end-game god bosses in this series is that they’re a lot like the final bosses of traditional jrpgs, even though fear and hunger is nothing like one of those. It goes to show how strange and powerful they are, disconnected from the nitty gritty, maiming-and-pain system that the F&H games embody. We have to deal with things like losing limbs and going insane and bleeding out because we’re mere mortals. They don’t. They get to be pure, untouched, terrifyingly powerful expressions of the universe’s mechanics. They get to play by the old rules.

i mean i came from persona and my first "actual" shin megoomi tonsils game was devil survivor 2. the entire discourse surrounding these games is fuckin' wild but i will say smt4 and 5 both are excessively easy and if there's any lack of "grinding" it is purely because of that, I'm not sure how many smt fans even played 1 and 2 or even know that smt was itself a sort of reboot of mt which itself was based on a book series but those games are all a massive grind.

I'm just wondering if most SMT players are bad. Every "tough" jRPG I've played is perfectly doable with set-ups and at least some grinding to keep up with enemy levels.
