i want to do CISA but dont have IT audit experience howerver i have 10 years of experience in accounting , tax and working with the auditors. i know 5 years of experience in IT audit is required. Do you think i qualify coz i wouldnt want to waste my money and energy on a certification i'll keep in my wadrobe
You can waiver some of the 5 years required with accounting qualifications. Also, you can just be a CISA Holder for up to 10 years while you get the experience, so it is still valuable and holds some weight when applying for jobs. More info on ISACAs website: support.isaca.org/s/article/What-are-the-requirements-to-become-CISA-certified
Excellent review! I have been using notion for some years now. Suggested it to a friend who questioned about the security of data. I just share this video . Great job man!
This is great stuff!! Some of this I think was also part of the Security+ exam. Still great stuff and it is always helpful to hear from people that have gone through some of the investigations to get more thoughts and opinions.
Is there another video after this one?? You mentioned in the next video but I don't see it listed with the others. I am loving all of this content and am eager for more.
Not yet, but I am working on it.
I took my Security+ remotely a few years ago. Thankfully, the testing people weren't that tough. I had a cup of water near me and that was about it. Nobody gave me issues about anything else. I can't remember if I had tissues or something else near me. The worst part about the fear of "cheating" is that in the real world if you don't know it you would ask a colleague or just look it up. These exams have all forgotten the importance of that... especially when they are entry level exams. The best exam I ever took was many years ago and was to be IBM certified to fix their computers under warranty. Unlike every other exam theirs was "open" book (searching their website) because they wanted to ensure that you knew where and how to find the answers needed for it. All of us that took it loved it compared to the others that we had to memorize stuff that 90% of it we didn't use. I wish that more of these companies would understand that the most important skill at this point is being able to find the information and not memorize tons of things when most of it won't be used. Just adding this because I forgot... Love the video. Thank you for the content.
Somebody else said that NOTION doesn't have end-to-end encrypted data security ... it's the only thing to be totally secure in case we don't let people store their data where they want ....
Yeah I think they can access your data for support purposes but it is encrypted at rest and in transit. Always be skeptical though.
These points seem useful, thanks.
The best thing about standards is that there are so many of them. Humans seems to like to make things more complex than they really need to be to get things done. It reminds me of years ago at a company I was working with two people were talking back and forth for about 15 minutes asking if a student said that they were coming back this in the fall to work again. 10 minutes..seriously. I just picked up my phone, texted the person asking, and within about 1 minute he got back to me. I told both of them that I just texted the student and they said that they were coming back to work again. We all had the person's number but why nobody else bothered to to text the person when nobody knew the answer baffles me. I sometimes feel that security and other things work this way too. If there are all of these different standards/requirements and as you said, they overlap by 80-90% in many cases, why not combine them all into one and have industry specific sections to ensure everything is covered. While at it... take whatever is the "best" (most secure) parts and make them the default because it would be better for all involved. Love the content and current watching your Risk Register project videos. Thank you for the excellent content.
Yeah you’re so right, those kind of situations happen so much in a corporate setting and waste so much time. It’s like layers of complexity and time wasting for no reason! Glad you’re enjoying the videos I need to get back and make more risk register project videos to be honest. Hopefully get back to that soon.
@ That would be great if you do. I am trying to break into GRC and there really aren’t enough free resources to learn the skills. I am glad that you have made some.
@@flakeinator1979 to break in, youll need to learn the reverse in on the job training. You'll need to take Compliance training modules to remain in ISO compliance within their Org Structure. After you gain the expertise in remaining compliant with Std Library Goverrnance rules (if they have a Governance Board which they should to remain withihn the rules of standard controls) you natrually progress with a mix of interal training skills to devleop yourself into learning Regulations of Compliance, whether Regional or International. Good luck in your endeavors. It must be exciting!
It always disconnects on their end, always.
Nice one! - I had no idea about the keys being all the same!! Thank you :)) I'm a bit of a linux newb but found that using Arch wasn't very conducive to learning so took the plunge with kali. In three days I've learnt more than I did in a week on Arch, because I'm forced to do things more hands on and people in the Arch community can be a bit up themselves. Also, I just didn't like pacman, I really like apt - I don't know why!
Thanks you for the comment! Yeah arch is a death wish to be honest. You’ll have no time for anything else, but you do learn a lot about OS’s/kernels etc. I like Linux mint too for its “ease of use”.
Hi Salih, I`m really excited about these azure certs that you are taking. I have watched all your videos and these certs that you are taking in Azure is 100 percent in line with what i am taking. I have been struggling and I am so glad now that your are taking these, because then i can get inspiration and guidance regarding how to get the AZ-104 and maybe (fingers crossed) the other certs that you can see below. I failed it ones and i hope that i will get in the next attempt. My roadmap in Azure is these certs: After AZ-104, I`m planning to get the Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) and after that the Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300) and lastly the Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect (SC-100). It`s big goals and it feels scary. It would be so awesome if you had similar plans because it is so inspiring to see you accomplish taking the certs and there is so much value in the work you do. I`m stuck in helpdesk and have been here almost 3 years and I really, really want, no I need, to get to the next level. All the best, From J All the best

Sir, so many gems in this video I believe I owe you some money. Well done
Congratulations 🎊
Been trying to find a solution for this for a bit, thank you!
if someone uploads their document of thesis in notion, will it be safe from plagarism?
It “should” be, I would just double check to see if they use customer data to train their AI models.
Thank you for the video. This was great advice. Just curious. How long did you take to study for the exam?
About a year, I really took my time with it and over prepared to be honest. I have friends who’ve done it in 2-3 months though with 4-5 years of experience.
Hi Salih, love your content, I’m a information security officer with 2 years experience, working on CISSP accreditation, would love a video on consultancy salary expectations, things like working remotely/digital nomad etc.
Sure thing, I will add it to my content plan and start working on it.
Thank you! This was exactly what I needed. Watched so many tutorials but none of them worked. Even chatgpt wasn't helpful.
Thank you so much this is so helpful. Genuinely I really appreciate it.
i asked chatgpt "A has 4 coffees, B has 5 coffees, and C has 9 coffees. If 4 of C's coffees are small, what is the total number of coffees?" and it answer was true. i am not convinced to ai cant do reasoning better than humans
Great video
GOATTT
i'm just starting learning cybersecurity, and youtube recommended u to me 😅
Hi Salih Which job in Technology is beginner friend entry level for who is switching career?
IT Support and Service Desk Those types of jobs are generally entry level. Sometimes you can get different jobs that are entry level too so make sure you look around!
AI wont replace you but someone using AI will; that's 100% true!
Food for thought
Are you working in cybersecurity?
Yes
Good bench
Thanks for this Video and keep up the good work
Great Video. With 25 years of experience in Network architecture and implementation, i started to transition to Cyber Security and was looking for a motivational content and my dear brother has nailed it. Loved your content and the way you explained it. Keep up the good work. May Allaah bless and protect you.

Thanks Salih! I have no IT experience. Just got two basic security and cloud certificate under the belt. I am in clinical research. Do you think getting CISA could help me into switching to IT auditing career?
Yeah definitely, CISA is a good option. However, make sure you research audit jobs in your area/country and see what is commonly being asked for before committing. Search CISA too and see how many jobs pop up asking for it etc.
Good to see you man!
Likewise
saved my life... thank you so much...

Hi, I come from a business/sales background trying to get into IT. A friend suggested going for the CISA. Looking into this led me to your channel as well as UnixGuy. I’ve been studying for the CISA and GRC Mastery as well (GRC mastery is much more engaging than the CISA manual). I’m still early in my journey…based on this video, would you reconsider studying for the CISA/GRC first, and pursue a more technical certification in development, networking, coding, etc.?
It’s hard to say tbh - not enough info. If you reach out on LinkedIn happy to give tailored advice.
Would you reccomend this course for people who are in cyber and are looking to upskill? I currently work as a soc analyst
It’s hard to say tbh - not enough information. if you reach out on LinkedIn happy to talk and I can give tailored advice.
White by day and back by night: we go the Neo’s way and swallow the red pill 💊
جزاك الله خيرا Thanks for the video. Makes sense. If you want to really get into programming and can afford to, go to 42 London (or any other 42 where you are based). I study at 42 in Wolfsburg, and it really is one of the best programs to not only learn real software development, but to understand memory management, syntaxes of different languages, CI/CD, Git, and APIs. Their curriculum goes way beyond what a bootcamp could ever teach. We learn C and Cpp and the alumni basically learn javascript or java to the point of shipping software in a matter of days or weeks of training when they get into a job. It is an extremely hard program, but if you stick to it 8 hours a day, 6-7 days a week, you will leave as a versatile and strong software engineer after a year or so. It is free, and the school helps you find jobs in development as well. Your background would give you an advantage, and the training would give you an advantage, just like you said, basically in every domain of IT and especially within Cybersec.
And the program is free you just have to pass the pretty challenging entrance examination
the one that REALLY hires
Bro i am confused between cyber security and data science which is best ,i recently join soc analyst class it is worth in india
They are both really good. I wouldn’t say either is better, they are just different. Just remember whatever you choose isn’t a life sentence and you can always change later if you want to.
Omg, you and I are thinking the same thing. Today I was thinking I need to learn some basic programming languages like Python and JavaScript. Do post some mini programming projects on the channel too, I love to see it and follow along with you ❤
Sure thing, will pull something together soon.
Hi Salih! Great video outlining the steps in an incident response process. Just to add to this, we have clients who use different ticketing systems like Jira service mgt, servicenow to raise a ticket to report incidents. That ticket gets updated with a timeline of what corrective actions they took to contain the incident and to assist with post incident review. Great job on the video 🎉
Thanks Aimee, yeah that’s a really good point. It’s also important to keep all the incident information in one place (I.e. same ticket). Just makes things easier for retrospectives, investigation’s and review. I remember something kicked off and this guy sent a email and said it was forbidden for anything to be discussed about the incident outside the email chain because it will be investigated by a third party - I thought that was a good idea. I.e. 1 central place for all relevant comms. Otherwise every IM system and meetings etc gets pulled into scope of investigation.
Mash’Allah, you covered everything I needed to know akhi. Jazakalakhair, although a lot of the recommendations, like the books and Luke Ahmed start becoming expensive! Pete Zerger’s class is good and free.
Yeah unfortunately it does, a lot of the good resources are paid for. But yeah some great free ones too - not looked at or used Pete Zerger’s class personally.
Great video very informative Salih
Seems useful.
